Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 1236: Carve Up
After passing through the small town, Alan appeared in front of a factory shed behind the town. The factory had been abandoned for a long time and the area was fenced in with barbed wire. In many places, the iron net had already been rolled up, and the ground beneath it was covered with haggard grass. Half of the door was knocked down, and the other side weakly shook in the sunlight, making a "squeaky" sound.
He walked through the door and passed by a rubble field. Tough weeds could be seen coming out of the cracks in the stones and swaying in the wind. Not far away, there were several cement stone pipes piled up. One of the pipes stretched out with two legs, and someone drilled into it to sleep. But in this town, you never know if it's a sleepless man or a corpse.
Alan was not interested in knowing. He walked to the main gate of the factory building. The factory building was made of concrete and steel, so it looked very broken. In many places, cracks had already appeared on the outer wall, but it was still very strong. It could last for at least a dozen years before collapsing. Such a building is rare in town. It can block the wind and rain and is a better place to live than those shacks and tin shacks.
Of course, as long as there were humans, there would be classes, even in a shabby town like this. As for good things, only the upper class could enjoy them, so only the most influential people in the town could afford to live in such a factory.
The most important person in town was definitely not a mayor, but Laudi the Cobra. Laudi was the true owner of the town, and two years ago, he was one of the subordinates of the previous owner. However, after he killed the man named Walter, the town belonged to him, including a dozen idlers and a few old-fashioned automatic rifles.
In town, guns mean everything.
Therefore, when Alan pushed open the door, he was not surprised to hear the moans of women coming from far away from the factory. Even in such a small town, there was at least some entertainment.
"Who is it?"
"Stop!"
From the left side of the machine tool and the right side of a few randomly piled up boxes down a few men, one of them naked upper body, trousers waist inserted a pistol, others are holding wooden sticks or machetes, a typical ruffian appearance.
Alan smiled and said, "I want to see Laudi."
The man with the pistol on his waist tilted his lips and smiled, "Boss Laudy, you want to see you? You think you're the president of the Federation?"
Alan shook his head and suddenly raised his hand. In his hand was a silver pistol. Several scarlet lines lit up on the pistol. A bright red Origin Energy bullet shot out and entered the man's head. The man was stunned for a moment before his entire head exploded like a watermelon! The white and red liquid splashed all over the faces of the men beside them. The smile on their faces gradually disappeared and was replaced by fear. Then, they let out screams and ran around.
At the end of the factory, an office door was kicked open. A man wearing glasses walked out with a rifle and shouted, "Who the hell dares to cause trouble here!"
Two other men rushed out of the office with guns. They wore the same clothes as the ruffians just now, but their eyes and movements were much sharper. As soon as the two of them left the office, they searched for their own masks and entered a state of battle. The man in glasses was naturally a cobra. Laudi narrowed his eyes and looked at Alan. He then looked at the headless corpse on the ground and sneered, "You have a lot of guts. You dare to kill people here."
"I still have the guts to kill a dog."
Alan took off his cloak and pinned a medallion to his collar. It was a golden eagle's emblem, and Laudi's expression changed when he saw it. Suddenly, he threw away his gun and threw it onto the ground. He roared, "So it's the lord. You didn't notify him beforehand. Otherwise, I would have personally picked you up outside the town. There wouldn't have been any misunderstandings."
When the two capable bodyguards saw the badge, they immediately withdrew their guns and saluted, but what they did was actually a federal military salute.
Alan shook his head and said, "I don't want anyone to notice my whereabouts. If you really pick me up outside the town, I'll have a headache. Where are those people?"
This Laudi was one of the chess pieces that Alan had nurtured on the surface. As for the two bodyguards, they were actually soldiers of the Federation Army. Under Alan's arrangement, they would be Laudi's bodyguards. Otherwise, how could Laudi, who had a stomach full of bad water, be the boss? After Alan finished speaking, Laudi hurriedly got up from the ground and said, "Sir, they are right below."
"Did anything unusual happen to them recently?"
"Lord," Laudy smiled bitterly, "they've taken over the underground factory. Not only are I not allowed to get close, they've also sent guards. I only get a few glances in every few days when I deliver food to them. Lord, they seem to be making something."
"Lead the way." Alan said.
Walking down a safe passage, Alan soon saw the entrance to the underground factory. This used to be the underground workshop of the factory. After it was abandoned, it locked the door with an arm-thick chain. As soon as they walked out of the stairs, a few dots of light filled Alan's body, and a strange voice came from the shadows at the gate, "Stand there, human."
It was in the human language of Earth, but it sounded strange and difficult to pronounce. Then, there was a soft sound from the shadows. First, two spots of purple light lit up. Then, an armored man walked out of the shadows. The opponent was over two meters tall, with a bald head and pale skin. His body was enveloped in armor, and there were waves of regular light flowing on the armor. The iron-armored man's right wrist was completely a handgun, and the muzzle was aimed at the staircase. As long as he was willing, the entire staircase could be blasted to ashes with a single shot.
"Is this how you treat your allies?" Alan snorted.
The iron-armored man clearly knew his identity, and a hint of ridicule flashed through his sparkling eyes. He said, "Whether the alliance is up to His Majesty, not you, is up to His Majesty."
"Cut the crap. I want to see your General Andos." Alan said unhappily.
The Nelm warrior nodded coldly. As Alan and the others were about to take a step forward, he pointed his cannon at Alan and said, "Only you can come in. The others are waiting outside."
Laudi and the others could only stop.
As he walked past the Nelm, Alan suddenly pointed his magical pistol at the iron-armored man's chest and said, "Next time you point your gun at me, I'll blow your head off."
Purple light shone in Nelm's eyes, and his chest rose and fell as he let out a low, suppressed roar from his throat. He lowered his head and glared fiercely at Alan. Another soldier walked out of the shadows. The soldier pulled his comrades away forcefully and said to Alan, "Human President, please."
Alan sneered as he put away his gun and followed the soldier into the underground workshop.
The workshop looked dim, with only a few kerosene lamps on either side to illuminate it. In the dim light, there was another door in front of him. However, this door was clearly not the original product of the workshop. It had an obvious metallic texture under the light of the fire. In front of the metal gate, there were two Nelm guards. When they saw Alan, they moved sideways. He led Alan's warrior forward and placed his hand on the gate. The edge of his palm immediately formed a circle of twisted lines. The gate retreated in all directions, revealing a passage.
Alan walked into the passageway and narrowed his eyes. "Is this your starship?"
The people of Nelm were silent, but Alan already had an answer. The door just now was directly connected to the alien warship. These Nelm people actually brought the warship underground, but Laudi and the others didn't notice.
Through Light Concealment Society's secret channels, Alan and the Emperor of Nelm, Cajasso, had reached a cooperative relationship. In the previous incident of the Son of Twilight, Alan had obtained some secret power from Cajasso, including the Nelm general, the furious Andos, and an elite tactical armored force. It was only when Andos encountered a slight accident while secretly crossing the interstellar line that he missed the Iron Prison incident.
Afterwards, it was used by Alan to attack A, a senior member of the Light Concealment Society. Andos also indirectly proved his strength to Alan. A had no ability to retaliate in the hands of this Nelm general.
When the door to the starship command room opened, Alan saw Andos. The Nelm man was said to be a mixed-blood with the Kidds. According to the information Alan could get, Andos was born on the Star of Machines. However, because of his impure bloodline, Andos left Star of Machines after the first mechanical modification and joined Cajasso's army.
He used his own strength to gain Cajasso's approval and became one of Cajasso's subordinates. Now, Andos was sitting on the seat of the bridge, and even if he saw Alan, he did not have the slightest intention of getting up to greet him. Alan narrowed his eyes and said, "General Andos, I want to contact His Majesty Cajasso."
Andos held his cheek with one hand and said casually, "Human President, this small matter requires you to personally come here. Is that all you have?"
Alan snorted, "I don't need you to doubt my abilities. It's not you who can decide whether or not to cooperate with me. It's His Majesty Cajasso. I must remind you, General, that every word you say now is a waste of His Majesty's time. Wasting His Majesty's time is wasting the future of the people of Nelm."
Andos laughed, "So I never liked politicians. Your mouths are far more powerful than your fists."
The general waved his hand and said, "Contact His Majesty on behalf of our president."
A triangular-shaped metal device descended from their heads. After it landed on the ground, a beam of light shot out from each of the three tips. The red, blue, and yellow rays interweaved rapidly in mid-air. A moment later, a three-dimensional image appeared in front of Alan. The image was of Nelm's Devil Lord Cajasso. Although it was only a stereoscopic image, it gave off an invisible sense of oppression.
The image started to flicker. When it stabilized, Cajasso rolled his eyes and Alan immediately felt as if he was being watched.
"It doesn't look good on you, Mr. President."
Alan smiled and said, "Your Majesty Cajasso will also be observing. Then, Your Majesty, why don't you take a look again? What is the purpose of my contacting you for this time?"
'"Like I said, you're not in a good position. Although I'm not on Earth, it's still possible to gather some information. And from the information I've got, Mr. President is running out of options, right? Then, do you want to consider my suggestion?" Cajasso smiled.
"I've considered it." Alan put away his smile and said solemnly, "That's right, I really don't have a better choice, so I've decided to accept your suggestion, Your Majesty."
Cajasso leaned forward slightly and his eyes glowed with purple light. "You will find that this is a wise decision. We each get what we want, Mr. President. We will divide up the resources of the planet as we promised, and you will be the biggest winner."
"Then His Majesty will decide when to start this operation. To be honest, my time is tight."
"I won't keep you waiting for too long, Mr. President. But one thing I need to see is your sincerity before we can officially start the whole project." Cajasso said with a smile.
Alan frowned, "What does His Majesty mean?"
"I want information on the military deployment of your Federation on the interstellar line. First, let me see the sincerity of Mr. President. Second, isn't that what we need to do?"
Alan nodded. "I see. In fact, I'm ready." He took out a pocket-sized storage device and said, "There is information on the military deployment of the Sirius Legion over the past three years, but let me remind you that Sirius and I have always been on bad terms, and I am not sure if the information is 100 percent accurate." And that little woman Windsor Belo is not a cheap girl. I even doubt how much truth she has in her annual military report to the Federation. Perhaps the real information only exists in her head. "
"There's no need for you to worry about this. There's no plan at all. It's 100% secure." Kagasso said, "I will arrange the operation as soon as possible. Just wait for my news. Before the operation starts, General Andos will cooperate fully with you in any operation."
Alan looked at Andos and sneered, "I don't think the general is willing to cooperate."
"That was before, but now it's another matter. Are you right, my general?"
Andos stood up, strode to Alan and half knelt down. "Of course, I'm happy to help you, President."
He raised his head and smiled, but the smile made Alan uncomfortable.
"That's it. I look forward to seeing you next time. It's on this planet, Your Majesty Cajasso."
Alan looked at Andos, who was still half-kneeling beside him, and said goodbye to Cajasso. The atmosphere here made him very unhappy. He did not like this kind of passive feeling. The channels of communication that he could go to were no longer safe. Alan was sure that Light Concealment Society, the wealthy clans, and even the old party would listen in on all of his communication channels. If he wanted to let the outside world know that he was in contact with the people of Nelm, regardless of whether the outside world suspected him as president, he would no longer be able to play Mobius and would even be thrown into a federal prison.
If it weren't for these concerns, he wouldn't have had to find a way to reach the surface and get in touch with Cajasso through the Nelm people's own communication channels.
It was already the morning of the second day after leaving the small town and returning to Babylon. The outside world didn't know anything about his sneak trip to the surface. After discarding the Light Concealment Society, Alan also secretly nurtured a substitute, so that he could continue to appear in front of the outside world as Mobbit when he needed it. However, in order to prevent the things he had done from falling on him, Alan's substitute would mysteriously disappear every once in a while, and then a new substitute would be added.
He lived every day with caution, especially in Nelm. During this period of time, he would not allow any mistakes to happen to himself.
After returning to his residence, he took a bath and then appeared in the mirror in high spirits. When he changed back into Mobbit's military uniform, he saw a badge pinned to the left side of his jacket. This badge was supposed to be on the right, but now it appeared on the left. It was obviously touched by someone. With a calm expression, he took off the badge and gently pressed it with his hand. The bottom of the badge split open, revealing a note.
Alan opened his eyes and rubbed his hands together, turning the note into ashes. He took out a new badge from the closet drawer and put it on before striding out of the house. There was already a queue of trains waiting outside the house. Today was the day he had a succession speech. The schedule was so tight that he even had to eat on the road. Alan got into the car in front of him. Naturally, an assistant would serve him breakfast and remind him of the things he needed to pay attention to when giving a speech.
As Alan listened, he remembered the message on the note.
Be careful, Light Concealment Society will attack the ground convoy.
It was a message left behind by Vina, but Alan doubted the authenticity of the message. It had been a long time since Vina had contacted him since the Iron Prison incident. There was no news about this woman in all the channels that Alan controlled, but now, she suddenly left him such a message.
Alan narrowed his eyes and laughed, "Vina, it looks like you've met your old friend. If I remember correctly, you never used the word'be careful 'before. When did you care so much about me?"
"Attack the ground convoy?" Alan shook his head. "I'm probably the real target, right? That's good. It just so happens that I haven't figured out how to push it out without a trace. Now is a chance."
He raised his head and smiled at his assistant, "I want to make a phone call."
Today's speech was scheduled at Dawn Square. According to the schedule, the President's convoy would enter Goldwing Avenue at 9:00 p.m. today. The convoy would slowly move forward, and Alan would show his face to meet people in order to raise the popularity of the convoy. Early in the morning, Goldwing Street was already packed with residents of Babylon, and such an event was no different from a festival for people. And there is an urgent need to know how Alan's Morbit will react after the Iron Hell incident and Light Concealment Society's true and false presidential claims.
As a result, before nine o'clock, people had already flocked to Goldwing Avenue. Looking around, the two sides of the Avenue were crowded with people. There was a dense crowd, and it was unknown how many people had been squeezed into the crowd. There were so many people, so when Vincent disguised himself as a guard and took to the streets, people didn't know that the man on the work permit that read "Oberman" was actually the leader of Light Concealment Society!
