Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 1222: Pro-Great Emperor
After the war, the soldiers swept the battlefield. The dwarves' corpses were collected and placed in ice coffins specially prepared for them. They were then transported to the upper cemetery and handed over to the archaeologists for autopsy. However, there weren't many specimens needed now, so after sending two complete dwarf corpses, the rest were thrown into the incinerator for disposal.
This was the eighth day the Fire Lion had entered the eleventh floor. A little more than a week had not been easy for Ellig and the warriors. After they built this camp and the supply line, they had been attacked fiercely by underground dwarves and other creatures. But with Allen's detailed information, Ellig has devised different responses to the weaknesses of these creatures. Even though the defenses were tough, they still managed to protect the camp. Compared to the past, this was a great improvement. In fact, Ellig had a lot of confidence in clearing up the entire maze.
A few soldiers had just thrown the last dwarf's corpse into the truck when they heard footsteps coming from the darkness ahead. The soldiers immediately drew out their sabers vigilantly. One of them threw a torch into the darkness. The torch spun into the darkness, illuminating a pair of red eyes. Only then did the soldiers see that they were actually two humans, a youth and a youth. However, the two of them looked strangely similar, and both of them had silver-gray hair.
The soldier who threw out the torch came to his senses and hurriedly shouted, "Earl Allen, you're back!"
The old man nodded.
Twenty days later, Alan and Bai returned to the human encampment on the eleventh floor.
When he saw the two of them in the camp, Ellig laughed out loud. It was such a familiar scene. Just like last time, the two people who returned to the camp devoured the food, and their eating habits didn't look much better than the refugees. However, who knew that one of them was a noble Earl of the Empire?
After filling his stomach, Alan took a deep breath and sat lazily in his chair. "Nothing is happier than a full meal after three or five days of starvation."
"The count is really easy to satisfy." Ellig smiled and said, "With your current abilities, you'll be fine even if you're hungry for a month, right?"
"Even so, the feeling of being hungry is really terrible." Ellen stretched and sat up straight. "General, do you want to know what's in the twelfth cemetery?"
Ellig was stunned. "Have you explored the entire eleven-level maze?"
Allen shook his head. "This labyrinth is so deep, how can it be so easy to explore? I'm just going all the way to the exit. I'll draw the route for you guys to set up your camp later. But I think you'll be busy even if it's only half the size of the labyrinth."
"Indeed. Not only is there a large space in the depths of this place, there are also quite a few remnant creatures here." Eric smiled and said, "But I still want to know what's on the next floor so that I can prepare for my future work."
Alan laughed, his smile a little mysterious. However, he did not have Ellig's appetite. After smiling, he said, "The labyrinth below will definitely be beyond your expectations. In fact, there is no labyrinth there. It is a flat, open space. It looks more like a grand underground hall. Of course, this hall is not prepared for a life like ours …"
Ellig recognized what he meant and frowned, "You mean, there are giant creatures in the next maze? How many?"
Alan raised a finger and said, "There's only one. It's a giant beast. It's a real giant beast. But it's asleep, and we didn't wake it up. We went around it and found the entrance to the thirteenth floor. To deal with this giant beast, I think you should treat it like a tough battle."
'"There's actually such a thing" Ellig narrowed his eyes and said, "I'm getting more and more curious. Just who built such a maze and what was the purpose of placing these creatures in the maze? It's simply too curious."
"When you reach the finish line, all questions will be answered." Allen said, "We should be resting in the camp today. As usual, please prepare supplies for us. We will continue to go deeper. We will probably leave for a longer time this time."
"Supply is not a problem, but Count Allen, I must remind you to be careful." After saying that, Ellig left to prepare what Alan needed.
The next day, the two of them left again. Two weeks later, they appeared in front of a bronze gate. This bronze gate connected the ground to the dome. The door was deep underground, as if it was connected to the ground. There was a statue on each side of the door, but the two statues were upside down. The portrait had no distinctive features. It could not be seen whether it was a man or a woman. It could only be seen that their legs were bent, like babies in the womb. As a result, the two reversed figures took on the shape of 69. Allen noticed that the two figures stretched out their hands, each holding something that looked like a halberd or a gun in their hands. It was as if it was a weapon, but it didn't matter what it was. There was a depression in the center of both of these things. The depression was very flat and symmetrical. It did not look like it was damaged, but rather, it was reserved for something.
Alan pushed the door hard, not moving at all as he had expected. He used all of his Origin Energy to try a few more times, and the results were the same. This was very strange. From the eleventh floor to this maze, almost all the doors could be pushed open. As long as they could cross those complicated terrain and kill off those underground creatures that had lived in the cemetery for an unknown period of time, the maze on each floor would be practically unobstructed.
However, the exit of the labyrinth on this floor was sealed off. It seemed that it could not be damaged by external forces. Only by following a certain method could the door be opened. Alan stroked the cold bronze door. He could feel that something was calling out to him, but he lacked a key to open the door. He could only look out and sigh. He looked at the two sunken places on the door again, and faintly felt that it was the key to opening the door.
"That might be the keyhole" Allen said, "But where is the key?"
Obviously, he couldn't answer this question for nothing. Alan shrugged his shoulders and sat down at the door. "Let's rest for a while, then go back. We can't find the answer here anyway. Why don't we leave it to Ellig to get a headache?" I said, "Why don't we go find trouble with the big guy up there?"
His white eyes lit up. "It should look delicious."
Allen shook his head and said, "You know what to eat, that guy" Suddenly, Allen remained silent. He jumped up and looked up into the endless darkness above the door. A moment later, he sighed and said, "It came so quickly. It looks like our vacation is over."
Blinking his eyes, he didn't know what Ellen meant.
"A guest has arrived, and you can still feel that boundless aura from such a distance. This guest is not simple." Alan smiled bitterly.
When Alan sensed an unknown might appear, he saw the blue planet in the outer space of Heaven's Planet. The owner of the pair of eyes sighed sincerely, "How beautiful! This planet is glowing with powerful vitality. It is so obvious that even if you intentionally ignore it, it is difficult to do so."
"I can't believe this planet was one of our ancestors' experimental grounds," a warm voice said. "I heard that during the Golden Rose era, there were a series of large-scale experimental programs, but nothing was mentioned in the later literature. Perhaps we can find the clues left behind by Empress Rose on this planet."
The leader gradually retreated, and the soft light on his head fell, reflecting a square and dignified face. Everyone in Adahua Planet recognized this dignified face, because he was the king of justice, Orfasis. Next to Great Emperor was Duke Gulliver, who was in charge of heading to Heaven Star. However, he was obstructed by Shakelin, and the Duke's fleet had been delayed in this desolate starfield for quite some time.
Unable to wait any longer, Orfasis personally came to this region and found the exact location of the Heavenly Star in the vast starfield by relying on his invisible connection with Lucy.
Orfasis sighed, "Lucy discovered the ruins of the Rose Empress era on this planet and brought back information about the Golden Tree Project." However, I have checked the ancient books and documents, and there is no record of it. Although we lost a great deal of literature in the Age of Void Skyfire, I believe that the Golden Tree project was concealed artificially. As for the reason, only the ancestors of that era would know. "But we don't have time to care about this right now. The Son of Twilight is a hundred times more important than the Great Empress' secret plan."
"You're absolutely right, but Your Majesty, do you want to think about it again? It would be relatively gentle for me to come into contact with His Highness Lucy inside the planet …"
"No need, my friend." Orfasis shook his head. "If Alan is indeed the son of twilight, then there is a dead knot between Lucy and I. Sooner or later, this knot will be tied. Even if I miss today, I will not be able to avoid the future. In that case, it makes no difference whether I go today or not."
Gulliver looked at the Great Emperor and saw that the wrinkles on his forehead had deepened. He sighed in his heart. It was not easy to resolve the old grudge with Lucy, but now, because of Alan, the father and daughter were going to have an inextricable knot.
"Duke, have the fleet organize a spatial defense line. No starships are allowed to leave." "Let me talk to Lucy myself," said Orfasis heavily. "I hope the situation doesn't get too stiff."
He turned around and strode forward. The scarlet cloak was as red as blood, and Gulliver seemed to see the flames of war.
It was a war between their father and daughter.
"Ah!"
Lucy suddenly sat up on her big bed in her bedroom in Dawn Castle's parlour. Her entire body was drenched in sweat, her face was snow white, and her heart was beating wildly. Just now, she had a dream. In the dream, she saw Alan standing in the middle of the flames. The flames were burning around him like a barrier. However, that was definitely a fragile barrier, because there were countless enemies outside the ring of fire.
She vaguely remembered that Alan was standing alone on the summit of a mountain, surrounded by enemies from all races. But they all had a common wish on their faces, and that was to kill Alan.
Alan's expression was calm, as if he had sensed her presence. In the flames he looked at Lucy with his usual gentleness, smiled and opened his mouth, and then pounced on the star-studded enemy.
Although she could not hear anything, Lucy understood what he meant.
I love you.
In that environment, however, it was as heavy as a mountain, so heavy that Lucy could not breathe, and her heart ached.
She woke up when she wanted to do something for Alan.
Lucy sat on the bed and watched the sun shine on the floor. It was already morning. Holding her head, she changed her clothes and was about to leave the bedroom when she saw a note by the door. It looked like someone had stuffed it in through the crack in the door. Lucy squatted down and picked up the note. Her expression changed as soon as she spread it out.
There was a line written on it: Here he comes.
Which one of them?
Lucy immediately pushed open the door and quickly walked to Sharlyn's room, recognizing that it was Sharlyn's writing. She pushed the door open rudely, but there was no one in the bedroom. With Shaglin gone and her words, Lucy had guessed who he was referring to.
Orfasis, her father, the king of justice in Adahua Planet!
Lucy's heart skipped a beat, and a voice screamed in her mind, He's coming, he's taking Alan.
"No, I won't let anyone take him away, not even father!" Lucy shouted, suppressing the voice in her mind. Her voice was so clear in the morning that Laura and Regis arrived almost at the same time.
Seeing Lucy's pale face, Laura cried out softly, hugged her and cried out in alarm, "Heavens, you're so cold."
Lucy's whole body was cold, but she couldn't care less about herself now, "Laura, go wake everyone up."
"Why? What happened?"
'"Someone's coming. It's my father. He's here to take Ellen away. I can't let him do this. Wake everyone up and let those who are willing to help stay behind. If you don't want to, leave immediately …"
Before she could finish, a voice sounded in Lucy's mind, "No need, son. I'm here. Let them go back to sleep. I just want to talk to you."
Just as this voice rang out, an invisible might suddenly descended. Laura and Regis' expressions stiffened, and they both fainted at the same time. Lucy reached out and covered her mouth gently. She could feel that the hall had suddenly become incomparably quiet. No matter who it was or what he was doing, he couldn't help but fall asleep under the pressure of Orfasis's might.
A moment later, Lucy heard a knock on the door.
The time had come, and Lucy calmed down. She shook her arm and the silver bracelet slipped off her wrist. When it landed on the ground, it had already transformed into the shape of a silver spider. Lucy said to the silver spider, "Put them on the bed."
The Silver Spider's body grew rapidly until it reached the size of a puppy. The next thing was easy. It spat out a silver spider web at the unconscious Laura and Regis, wrapped around them and pulled them onto the bed. The spider web was extremely flexible, and even if it dragged the two of them along the ground, it wouldn't scratch them. However, when needed, each spider web could also become very sharp. As long as the web was closed, the prey in the web would be cut into pieces.
Seeing that the two of them had pulled the silver spider into a big bed, Lucy walked out of the door and gently closed the door before heading to the hall. As soon as she entered the hall, she saw two figures. One of them was Gulliver, and the gentle Duke nodded to her. The other was naturally Orfasis. He stood there, his exceptionally tyrannical posture difficult to accomplish even if he wanted to be ignored by others. He seemed to be the center of the entire universe, and whichever station he went, he would become the focus of his gaze.
When Lucy saw him, she stopped and said, "Father."
Orfasis turned around. When he turned around, his expression was as cold as a piece of iron. But when he faced Lucy completely, he softened. Looking at his favorite daughter, Great Emperor sighed, "I really don't want to come to you in such a manner. But Lucy, since Sharon has already come to see you, you should know about Alan, right?"
'"Teacher Shargren did tell me a lot, including the Son of Twilight. But the teacher also said that even if Alan was the Son of Twilight, he would not pose a threat to the universe once he did not awaken. That's why the teacher hid the truth from you."
"Where's Shaglin?" "She must have left," said Orfasis. "Believe me, my child, our Marquis must have concealed something else, otherwise why would he not see me?"
"She is not afraid of your punishment, but the teacher thinks that your intervention will make things worse." Lucy said, "Teacher has seen the dusk of the universe, but she also sees that there is more to the dusk than end and despair. She wants you to give Alan some time and give the universe some hope."
Orfasis shook his head and said, "First of all, you have to understand, son." I can't let down my guard just because of a few words from Sharon. I am the emperor of Adahua Planet, and I need to take responsibility for the safety of my people. Secondly, I didn't intend to harm Ellen. At least, I didn't intend to hurt him. But he has to come with me. At the very least, he has to stay where I can see him. I promise I won't do anything to him as long as he wakes up at the end of the day. On the contrary, I will give him everything he wants! "
Lucy laughed, "So you don't know Alan, father." He won't go with you. He has already lost a lot of things. If he even loses his freedom, he would rather die! I hope you can trust me. I will stay with him and look after him. I won't let him become a son of the twilight, if he really awakens and wants to end everything. Then the first one to end will be me, and I'm sure Alan won't do that. I believe him … "
"I'm sorry, child." Orfasis shook his head and said, "I can't bet my hopes on you or Sharlyn. I can understand how you feel about protecting Alan, but I ask you to understand my difficulties." If I were just a simple father, I would believe you as much as you trusted Alan. But I am not only a father, I am also a king. I need to take more responsibility for my life. "
Lucy nodded and smiled, "Yes, I have forgotten that you are the king of justice. There is only one balance in your heart, and everything needs to be weighed, doesn't it, Your Majesty Orfasis?"
Orfasis sighed and said softly, "Tell me, son, where is Alan?"
