Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 1211: A Plot to Gain Time in Order to Complete Defense
In a somewhat monotonous space, apart from the distant Heavenly Star's azure planet, there were no other planets in the surrounding space that could nurture life. From space, Heaven's Star was lonely, at least in the vast starfield around it, it was the only planet that contained civilization. But in this day and age, the distant starpath is no longer the root cause of obstructing the seeker's footsteps, so the so-called loneliness is only relative.
Space distorted, and the surrounding objects stretched and deformed, as if they were looking through a convex mirror. Then, at the middle point of the distorted space, something else entered the space. It stretched together with the space and returned to normal as the space shrank. When this phenomenon ceased, a starship that had just left the warp channel appeared in space.
The star-like porthole shield began to rise, allowing the passengers inside to see the scene outside, even if there was really nothing worth admiring in this space. However, when a corner of the distant Heavenly Star shone on the window of the porthole, Alan couldn't help but look at the blue planet.
"We're back." "But we have other things to do before we return to Planet Paradise," Edward said.
Alan glanced at him but didn't ask what it was. The starship had already begun to move. When it passed through a group of meteors, it could see the Gemini Star Locator set up near a Death Star from afar. Locators flickered in space, the unmanned machine serving as a link to the lunar space station. Allen and his team relied on it to return to Earth. Now that he saw it, Allen had basically guessed what other things Edward was talking about.
Even though it was a merchant ship, the starships were equipped with weapons systems. It was just that they were not comparable to the various types of warships that were specially used for combat. Two missile launchers rose from the front of the starship. Then, a few flames shot out and a few missiles flew out. Dragging the orange tail flames across the space, Allen saw the missile hit the locator a few seconds later. The twin stars immediately turned into a brilliant fireworks, and countless metal fragments flew in all directions.
After blowing up the positioner, the bottom of the merchant ship opened and five or six barrels were ejected from the starship. As soon as they left the starship, lights began to flicker on the surface. Then, a circle of blue lightning shot out from his tail and flew in different directions. Moments later, these things had already turned into dots of light that were constantly fading away.
"Those are signal transmitters." Edward explained, "Exploding the Gemini Planet would mean that Earth would lose the exact coordinates of Heaven Planet. They could open warp paths in this region, but their positions were random. It would take a lot of effort to search for Heaven Planet again." As for those transmitters, they will interfere with and mislead them if the Federation wants to track us through the signals of this starship. "
Alan nodded. Edward's plan was still very careful. However, the destruction of the Gemini Stars meant that they would not be able to return to Earth in a short period of time.
After ejecting those signal transmitters, the starship turned around and its tail engine sprayed with electric fire, pushing the starship in the direction of Heaven Star. At the same time, in some unknown space, after a moment of distortion, several starships appeared in the void. From the looks of it, the starships belonged to the Earth Federation, and the black wings on the main ship meant that these starships belonged to the Ace Legion's "Black Wings".
In the command room of the main ship, Hillfa looked listless. Even if the fleet suddenly left the warp channel, the young general didn't seem to care much. He just casually asked, "What happened?"
Someone replied, "General, the pilot signal from the Gemini Planet suddenly disappeared, causing the warp channel to close quickly. We are now locating the surrounding space to confirm our position."
"The Gemini signal has disappeared?" Hillfa sat up slightly and asked, "Then can we still reach Planet Paradise?"
"We can reopen the lunar space station, but without the guidance of the Gemini signal, we can only reach the Domain of Paradise. We will need to search for it ourselves, and it will probably take us some time."
"Be more specific."
"That depends on the size of the space in the starfield and the location of the Heavenly Star. Even if we send out an unmanned search engine, it will take at least three to five months to find the Heavenly Star …"
"How about this?" Hillfa asked, "Is there any way to find the signal from the other starship?"
"We did that just now, but the radar shows six sources. They appear in different directions and are still moving."
Hillfa laughed, "That's enough."
The adjutant beside him was confused and asked, "General, what do you think?"
"My opinion is that we can't track our target now. This mission has failed. Let's return."
The adjutant was stunned. He had followed Hillfa for some time and knew very well that this gentle looking young general was not someone who would give up easily. It was even more unusual for the mission to be abandoned before it even started, so the adjutant confirmed, "Shall we stop pursuing?"
"Yes, we, Blackwing, will no longer accept any similar missions. We have more important responsibilities, and I will report this to the President personally. If he still wants to track the target, ask him to send another legion to carry out it." Hillfa stood up and said, "I'm tired. You can apply to the Lunar Space Station for a way back. Let me know when you get back to Earth."
Then, ignoring the puzzlement on the faces of the adjutants and the other crew members, Hillfa walked out of the control room. He went to his room alone, but he remembered the scene of Alan being taken to the Iron Prison that day. He went to ask Mobbit for an explanation. But the president was reluctant to see him at the time, leaving him with a message: obey orders.
'"Mr. President, what are you up to?" Hillfa laughed as he thought about it. "It's different from what Orfasis promised."
Paradise Star.
Shadow Duchy seemed to have given up on the southern frontier since the last invasion by an outsider army that had been annihilated by the Federation army halfway through. More than half a month had passed since the end of the war, but no outsider had been seen. Salon's Bucks were still stationed in the unicorn territory, and even allowed Keller to bring an army back to Mountain City.
Just as Salon thought, there were no outsiders in Mountain City. It was as if the sudden attack had frightened them. The Shadow Duchy had completely abandoned its plan to invade the empire from this border. As a result, Keller simply stationed himself in Mountain City and rebuilt the defensive fortifications. The people of Mountain City had proposed to move back more than once, but Salon had rejected them, so Remington could only appease his people and temporarily stay in Allen's territory.
As Alan and Edward left one after another, the responsibility for managing the territory fell to Lucy. As Allen's closest woman, she had almost no shirk of her responsibility. Fortunately, she had a dragon who was familiar with the affairs of the territory to help her. These days Lucy is in good order. On this day, after she finished reviewing the budget application from Glory Academy, she had no other work to do. In the study of the Lord's Mansion in Dawn Castle, the afternoon sun fell on the dark desk, illuminating the golden rose ring on Lucy's finger. She spun her ring and suddenly missed that person.
After Alan went back to Earth, Lucy had no news of him at all. It was just that she had a lot of business to attend to, so she devoted almost all of her energy to the management of the territory. It was only now that he had some leisure that his longing for him emerged in his heart.
There was a knock on the door, and with Lucy's permission, the dragon pushed open the door and entered. "Miss Lucy, please go back now. Lord Alan and the others are back."
Lucy's green eyes lit up. She stood up and waved at the silver spider lying on the table in the sun. The silver spider jumped up and turned into hundreds of silver threads that landed on Lucy's wrist, turning into a silver bracelet. Lucy quickly walked out of the lord's mansion and got into a carriage to return to the newly-built pavilion. The guild hall was a plan that had been launched before the invasion. Edward built a guild hall in several territories for Alan and the others to stay in.
Returning to the hill north of Dawn Castle, the hall was quiet. The hall was built on a hill covered with green grass, overlooking the distant city. Along with this pavilion, there was also a small road connecting the city, as well as two rows of street lamps along the road, and so on. The carriage passed through the gates and stopped in the small square in front of the main building. Lucy saw Edward as soon as she got out of the carriage and her heart sank when she saw Alan.
"Where's Alan?"
"He's in the room." Edward accompanied Lucy into the main building and the two walked up the stairs in the lobby to the second floor. Turning into a corridor, Edward said, "Your Highness, Young Master Alan's experience on Earth this time is not good. Something bad has happened."
"Can you tell me?"
"Of course, I don't think Young Master will take those matters to heart. However, there is one thing that he will definitely not be able to let go of." "Mr. Horn personally went to rescue Young Master when he was being held in federal custody for no reason," Edward said briefly. "But Mr. Horn can't come back. He may have died in the big explosion in prison."
"Heavens." Lucy covered her mouth and whispered. She knew Alan's feelings for Horn very well, and she knew what it meant to Alan to lose Horn. Without seeing Alan, she could already feel the smell of sadness in the air of the pavilion.
"What can I do for him?"
Edward shook his head. "You don't have to do anything. You just have to stay by his side and listen to his words. It's the greatest comfort. On the way back, Young Master Alan said he's fine, but as long as he's not blind, you can tell he's seriously injured." He pointed at his chest and continued, "He's just trying to hold on, but this kind of emotion is very bad for Young Master. I think only you can help him release it now."
"Only His Highness can do this!"
