Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 1192: Regain One's Liberty
"Did you detect any residues in the sample?"
"No, sir. We've already confirmed that all the blood has evaporated without a trace of residue."
"Damn it, give me the latest test report. Also, send another team to collect blood samples from the experimental subjects. Be careful this time, Noble. Give me a report on the analysis of the base's air. I hope there won't be any pollution incidents."
The experimental center was in a mess. After discovering that Alan's blood had disappeared for no reason, everyone, including Josh, was busy, and the workload seemed to have increased more than tenfold. Only then did Josh have time to sit down, and the assistant brought him a cup of coffee. The supervisor drank his coffee as he looked at the latest test report on Alan's blood on Tablet Intelligence.
Suddenly someone shouted, "Sir, you have to see for yourself."
"So what!" Josh almost wanted to throw the coffee out. There was plenty of trouble today. He finally put the cup down and walked over with the tablet in his hand. But when he saw a screen that the staff member pointed at, the tablet in Josh's hand fell to the ground. He rushed to the screen and a drop of cold sweat fell from his forehead. "Quick, notify General Fendi that something is wrong with the subject!"
His assistant beside him said, "General Fendi is going to suppress the intruders. I'm afraid he won't reply to us."
"To think that at such a time …"
"Sir, the Origin Energy Disturbance Instrument's reading is rising. It will soon reach the critical point!" One of the staff members said nervously.
Josh opened his mouth wide and shouted, "Is he crazy? The more intense the Origin Energy movement is, the more intense the current released by the interferometer will be. That will inevitably damage his brain and he will die!"
"What should we do, sir? Should we turn off the interferometer?"
"Idiot!" Josh roared, "Turn off the jammer and he will be able to move his Origin Energy freely. I have seen his combat evaluation and found that two heavy presses cannot imprison the experimental subjects!"
"Then what should we do now?"
Josh grabbed a handful of hair and shouted, "Quick, send a team of guards over first. Tell them to use all means to stop the experimental subjects!"
The order was quickly issued, but Josh could not rest assured. He looked at the screen, where Alan was shouting angrily. His skin was swollen red and hot smoke was rising from his body. The jammer helmet on Allen's head was sparking everywhere. This was the first time that the jammer had increased its power to its maximum critical value.
"This is simply insane." Josh whispered as he looked at the distorted face in the picture.
Alan roared.
A piercing roar echoed throughout the room. The blood vessels in his body started to rise, and his blood was flowing at a speed that was several times faster than usual. This caused his entire body to turn red, and the heat he emitted continuously pushed out the moisture in the air, causing it to form a rising hot smoke. Allen's eyes had already lost their focus, and even his will had dissipated. The electric current emitted by the interferometer made him feel extremely painful, but he didn't show any signs of stopping. Even though blood had begun to spill out of his eyes and nostrils, Allen was still moving his Origin Energy in an attempt to break through the confinement.
At this moment, a group of guards came in. Seeing this situation, the captain made a gesture. The few of them took out their rubber sticks and rushed over to give Allen a loud whip. However, the pain they inflicted on Allen was far inferior to the stimulation of the interferometer, and Allen subconsciously ignored it. After a dozen or so blows, the soldiers were sweating profusely. They looked at each other and were at a loss for what to do.
At this moment, the helmet of the jammer suddenly emitted a series of soft noises, and several electrode needles popped out. A strong electric current continued to climb along the cable on the helmet and eventually submerged into the working parts at the rear. The working parts immediately burst into flames, and the circuitry inside immediately stopped working due to a short circuit. The illumination of the entire room was constantly flickering. It was a disturbance caused by the impact of strong electric currents. As the lights flashed, Alan finally stopped. He seemed to have exhausted all his strength and had fallen into a coma. He closed his eyes and his head fell to his chest.
The guard captain looked and said to a member beside him, "Check the crew and see if the interferometer is normal. If there is no abnormality, restart it … What are you doing? Hurry up and go." The captain was stunned when he saw him stare up at the sky and followed his line of sight. A ball of flame appeared above Allen's head at some unknown time. The scarlet flame was only the size of a fist, but it continued to expand. After a moment, its diameter had already exceeded one meter. At this moment, something poked out from the fireball, flames dancing about, reflecting the eyes of the guard.
They subconsciously retreated a little before they could see that it was an arm wrapped in rock. The arm stretched out the fireball and swept it horizontally. The captain and the other team member reacted quickly and bent down in time, but the others were not so lucky. They were swept around. Crashing into a wall, or smashing into a few machines, he couldn't get up for a while.
"Back up! Back up!" The captain shouted and pulled the remaining guards back. He raised his head and saw that the fireball had already turned into a pillar of fire. A figure walked out from the pillar of fire. It was a werewolf covered in rocks. Flames flickered through the cracks in the rocks and sparks sprayed out from time to time. The werewolf had a strange one-eyed man on his chest. This huge eye was like a separate individual, rapidly turning to scan the surroundings.
"What the hell is this?" The guard cried out.
The captain roared, "Whatever it is, shoot! Fire!" He threw away the rubber stick and used his magic rifle to shoot at level.
The Origin Energy bullet pierced through the air, and the werewolf merely raised his arm to block this wave of attacks. Then, he suddenly rushed forward and kicked out his thigh. The captain and the last guard were kicked flying. When they crashed into the wall and fell, they were already unconscious.
'"Sargeras" Alan raised his head again, his eyes burning with flames. "Dismantle these two damn machines!"
The werewolf let out a low roar and turned around to leave. The werewolf gripped the heavy press on both sides with both hands. The cracks in his body burst into flames. Where it gripped the machine with both hands, the surface of the machine immediately lit up with red light. The metal was melted at high temperatures, and the heat was quickly conducted, causing the components inside to stop working one after another. The heavy press began to emit green smoke. A few moments later, there were a few slight explosions inside, and the machine stopped working.
Ellen roared and pulled his hands out of the parts of the machine with a blazing flame in them. After 48 hours in captivity, he regained his freedom.
Looking at the scene on the screen, Josh took a few steps back and muttered, "We should go. Damn it, everything is out of control."
He then shouted, "Quick, take everything you can. Remember to back up the files. We have to evacuate!"
In the room, Alan took off his helmet and threw it heavily to the ground. The Flame Devil stepped on the jammer and turned it into subway juice. Alan took a deep breath. The past two days had been like a nightmare. Alan would never forget the man who had put the nightmare on him, Fendi!
Alan examined himself. There were countless wounds on his body. These were all souvenirs that Fendi had left him. However, most of these wounds had healed, and the rest were not worrying. On the other hand, the interferometer had caused him more damage. Alan still felt a splitting headache, but it was much easier than the pain from before. He narrowed his eyes and made a decision after a moment of thought.
Even though he wished he could tear Fendi into pieces now, he knew that a Federation general was not a soft persimmon that he could casually squeeze. At the very least, there was nothing he could do with his bare hands. That was why he needed weapons. Whether it was praises from Red King or the Abyss Devils, he had to get his equipment back. Alan began to sense that he was sending Origin Energy out to search the base. Not long after, he felt the devil's praise. This Origin Tool had already been with him for quite some time, and an invisible connection had already been established between the two.
Allen took off one of the soldiers' uniforms and put them on. At this time, the Flame Devil had easily opened the door. Alan strode out of the room, and several guards rushed over from the other end of the corridor. Gunshots rang out in the corridor.
Leotan walked back and forth uneasily.
He was a guard at the warehouse of the base and had served five years in this underground prison. Five years wasn't long, but it wasn't short either. But this moment has never been as dangerous. There have been criminals who tried to break out of prison, or outsiders who tried to break in. However, they were quickly suppressed by the prison guards, and the longest time they took was less than ten minutes. However, twenty minutes had passed since the ground defenders were attacked, and the battle seemed to be continuing and getting fiercer and fiercer.
Through the ubiquitous exhaust pipes of the base, Leotan could hear gunshots coming from afar. The most deadly thing was that the voice was getting closer and closer, as if it was moving in this direction. This made Leotan a little nervous. If it wasn't for the base system, he would have wanted to smoke a cigarette. This would help him ease his nervousness.
"Hey, buddy. I said stop shaking, okay? My eyes are almost dizzy from shaking." A young soldier gestured in his eyes, saying that the recruits had only been in prison for less than half a year, and they did not have enough respect for the veterans. In these six months, there had never been more friction between recruits and veterans.
Normally, Leotan wouldn't mind teaching this kid a lesson and letting him know what it meant to be respectful. However, he wasn't in the mood right now, and an unknown sense of crisis was lingering in his heart. It was as if something big was about to happen. At this moment, the recruit seemed to see something and stiffly raised his finger towards the end of the tunnel. Leotan saw nothing unusual except that the lights in the passageway had lit up a little.
He unbuttoned his collar and felt a burst of sultry heat, not knowing if the air conditioner was broken or if he was too nervous. Then he finally saw something. On the wall at the corner of the passage, a long shadow was cast on it. As the shadow continued to expand, it was as if something was approaching. Leotan shouted, "Who is it?"
No one answered.
