Chapter 179: Episode 179: The Client Requests Li Jiniang
"If one of you two could just take the initiative, it would be great..." Li Jiniang sighed.
"It’s tough..." Zhou Xueyin helplessly shook her head and got up to play with the cat.
Although they no longer had to worry about the company going bankrupt, the workload had become so overwhelming that there was no time for rest. Come the weekend, she was so exhausted that all she wanted to do was lie flat and sleep, with no spare energy to engage in a relationship or maintain emotional ties.
On the other hand, Wei Jingzhu had been nursing an inferiority complex ever since Zhang Lei had said, "Do you think just because of your background and your position, a grand company manager would take an interest in you?"
It wasn’t exactly an inferiority complex, but he felt that until he could work hard enough to deserve Zhou Xueyin, he wouldn’t easily ask her out.
After all, he hoped that once they were dating, she wouldn’t have to exhaust herself managing the company anymore.
Moreover, a degree of male pride was at play; he didn’t want others to say he was living off a woman. He wanted to earn his place beside Zhou Xueyin through his own efforts.
After the Qingming holiday, several people arrived at the office, and for the first time, Zhang Yongzhong was already waiting for everyone in the office area.
"Li Jiniang, you’re finally here. Come to my office!" Zhang Yongzhong, seeing Li Jiniang, called her into his office as if seeing a savior.
The other three looked at each other, unsure of what was happening, but since she would tell them about it after coming out, they just went back to their desks and started working without much concern.
"Sit!" Zhang Yongzhong invited Li Jiniang to sit down, then sat back in his own chair, "There’s a client who specifically asked for you to handle their case, and I had no other choice. Xiaoyun will come later; she’ll coordinate with you."
"What client specifically asked for me? I’m in business development, not sales now... I’m not handling ad spots currently..." Unless it was a client specified by Zhou Xueyin, Li Jiniang rarely dealt with ads anymore.
"Langri Razors. Their sales representative said that if you show up, they would give us a 5-million annual advertising deal!" Zhang Yongzhong stretched out five fingers, "5 million! That’s one fourth of our sales target right there!"
Li Jiniang felt a chill at the mention of the brand.
At the company’s inception, they had been led in circles by them. Not only had they failed to secure the advertisement but they had also wasted a lot of time.
Years had passed, and yet they still persistently wanted to place advertisements; their persistence was indeed remarkable.
"Eh? By the way, did we ever work with Langri before?" Zhang Yongzhong suddenly thought of something.
"No..." Li Jiniang denied outright, not wanting to reveal those agonizing days.
"That’s strange, how did Pang Xin know about you?" Zhang Yongzhong looked at Li Jiniang suspiciously.
"Ah... well, I guess I am somewhat famous, right?" Li Jiniang deliberately supported her ample bosom with her arms.
"Oh~~ I see now! Indeed, you have some fame..." Zhang Yongzhong understood immediately as he nodded with a sleazy grin.
However, Li Jiniang wasn’t his type; he thought she was a bit too voluptuous, which detracted from the overall aesthetic appeal.
Zhang Yongzhong personally preferred Zhang Jingwan, but sadly she had resigned and gone back to her hometown, so he couldn’t keep pining for her.
"Manager Chan, does Langri Razors have any specific requirements for the ad campaign? When did you schedule to meet with them? You give me a schedule, and I can arrange my work accordingly." Even with numerous grievances, she couldn’t just refuse to cooperate.
After all, the company didn’t just listen to the four of them; all actions still had to consider the company’s interests.
"The other party didn’t specify, but they just said that for next Thursday’s dinner, you must come, or our future cooperation will fall through..." Zhang Yongzhong curled his lips, he had just found out why he had taken Zhang Jingwan to so many meals without being able to secure the advertising deal: he had brought the wrong person."
"Next Thursday... No problem, you’ll be going too, right?" Li Jiniang asked, somewhat worried.
"Of course I’ll go. After all, this is my client!" Zhang Yongzhong would never let an opportunity that was almost in his grasp slip away to someone else. His name must be on the contract for it to be valid.
You can dodge once but not forever, what’s meant to come will still come.
The merchant she had refused a few years ago was knocking at her door again; it seemed this time she really couldn’t avoid it...
Li Jiniang walked out of the office feeling completely disheartened and slumped weakly in her chair.
"What’s wrong? You look like someone cooked your goose," Zhou Xueyin passed by Li Jiniang’s workstation with a glass of water, seeing her dispirited look, she asked with concern.
"The idiot wants me to go talk about Langri..." Li Jiniang grabbed Zhou Xueyin’s arm, appearing as if she was about to cry.
"Isn’t Xiaoyun supposed to handle Langri... Why must you go?" Zhou Xueyin asked, completely baffled.
"The idiot said the client specifically asked for me, if I don’t go, they won’t sign... What can I do?" Li Jiniang looked helplessly at Zhou Xueyin, "Yinyin, I really can’t escape this time. That Pang Xin is back..."
"Damn, I truly don’t want to see that greasy, flabby face again." Zhou Xueyin felt a chill run down her spine just thinking about Pang Xin’s appearance.
"I’m afraid he might torment us again like last time..." Li Jiniang said with worry.
"That’s not impossible... sigh..." Zhou Xueyin sighed heavily.
Let’s take it one step at a time; after four years of ordeal, hopefully, Pang Xin has learned to know where to draw the line.
"Xiaoyun, the idiot said Langri is my responsibility now. Can you pass me their requirements and information..." Li Jiniang turned and explained the situation to Zhao Caiyun standing nearby.
Zhao Caiyun handed over the information immediately, and looked at Li Jiniang with sympathetic eyes, "Sister Jixiang, good luck..."
"Xiaoyun, you weren’t harassed by Pang Xin too, were you?" Seeing Zhao Caiyun dispatch the information as if ridding herself of a plague, Li Jiniang asked worriedly.
"Not yet, but this guy really can’t keep his hands to himself. Wanwan said that Pang Xin was touchy-feely during meals, but he didn’t dare to go too far." Zhao Caiyun shared some earlier complaints from Zhang Jingwan with Li Jiniang.
"He said he’s already bought a house back home and has saved enough money to soon buy a place on the edge of South Third Ring in Beijing. He also said that if Wanwan agreed to spend one night with him, he would put her name on the property deed." Zhao Caiyun said, curling her lips in disgust as she spoke.
"But Wanwan mentioned that Pang Xin is already married; there’s a clear mark of a ring on his left ring finger. She asked him, and he wouldn’t admit, but his phone wallpaper was obviously a wedding photo of him and another person... Anyway, he’s quite disgusting." Zhao Caiyun shared everything she knew with Li Jiniang.
"This disgusting man, we’ve dealt with his kind before you started here. I can’t believe that today, four years later, I still have to face him... Ah... I might as well be dead." Li Jiniang’s despair grew the more she thought about it, wishing she could just quit immediately.
But quitting now would be too unfair to Zhou Xueyin and all the years of effort she’d put in. He’s just a scumbag, right? As long as he doesn’t cross her red lines, she’ll spare his life.
Otherwise, she would deal with him this year just as she had dealt with Mi Lu back then!
He’s only a general agent for Huabei, right? After all, 51buy now has a backing of an international group, so there’s no reason to fear a private company, right?
Li Jiniang bolstered herself up.
