Chapter 95 – The Avatar of Fear
Golden, gleaming eyes.
A greatsword as long as his own body, being swung effortlessly with one hand.
It was surreal—strange yet familiar, unfamiliar yet deeply nostalgic. Jhin narrowed his eyes and let out a dry laugh.
’...That’s really me, isn’t it?’
Arman , knocked back, let out a furious roar and raised its head sharply.
The man who had caused that blow—’Kyle’—rested the massive sword on his shoulder and silently glared at Arman .
’It’s Kyle from Exodia1.’
Jhin swallowed hard as he looked over the gear—equipment he had gathered and refined with painstaking effort. Things he thought he’d never see again after the service ended.
BOOM!
Kyle deflected Arman ’s tail with his sword and immediately dashed in, aiming to drive the blade into its side.
But this time, Arman didn’t go down so easily. It tightened its muscles, locking down the embedded blade and tried to crush Kay’s body with its coils.
BANG! BANG!
Kyle barely managed to escape, but was struck by Arman ’s wildly flailing tail and sent flying. He crashed into the ground like a bug.
KRAAAANG!!
Kyle got back up, unfazed. Arman belched out its breath weapon toward him, butKylehad already slipped into its blind spot.
It was a fierce exchange. Too close to call.
Watching this, Jhin turned to his group.
"Now."
"Huh?"
"Whatever it is, it’s our chance. Run!"
BOOM! BOOOM!
Kyle danced up Arman ’s tail with nimble steps. The movement was graceful—like brushing past blades of grass.
It was ’Kalar ’—a peak-level martial skill. One of Kyle’s signature techniques.
BOOOOM!
The battle between Arman and Kyle raged on violently.
As expected of an S-rank monster, Arman quickly regained its senses and met Kyle’s fierce attacks head-on.
Their clash was devastating, tearing apart everything around them.
Arman ’s sheer size caused every movement to ripple outward in destructive waves.
"...What’s going on? Why is Kyle over there?"
Luke asked in shock, his eyes wide.
Jhin , already retreating from the battlefield, turned back to look at Kyle.
At first, the sudden appearance of ’Kyle from Exodia1’ had left him speechless from disbelief.
But after thinking it through calmly, it wasn’t all that strange.
Yeah. If it’s here—then it makes sense.
"Think about where we are. It’s not that implausible."
"You don’t mean..."
"Yeah. Someone summoned him."
Kyle, his Exodia1 avatar, couldn’t have just appeared for no reason.
Where there’s an effect, there’s always a cause.
"Seems like... we’re not the only ones here."
From what they knew so far, monsters only appeared when someone feared them.
And not just any fear—it had to be something they had feared in Exodia.
That’s how Luke had spawned the King Centipede. How Millie had brought out the NPC Cramp .
And how Arman , the terrifying dragon Jhin feared most, had appeared.
"So, there’s something we can guess from Kyle’s appearance," Jhin said, swallowing hard.
"Someone here... is afraid of me."
THOOOM... THOOOOM...
Blade and claw clashed, sending shockwaves through the air.
Windows shattered. Rides were crumpled like tin cans.
The Gyro Drop was snapped in half and toppled over, crushing monsters that had been wandering nearby.
Kyle, ranked #1, versus Arman , an S-rank monster.
This was a clash of the strongest—top of the food chain.
Jhin felt something swelling in his chest just watching it.
But he kept his voice steady.
"Fortunately, they’re not using their full-level power."
The battle might’ve looked flashy, but the damage to Bey World was relatively limited.
A few smashed buildings, some fires.
For any normal monster around level 100, that kind of power would be unimaginable.
But from Jhin ’s point of view—who remembered their true forms—this was only a ’mild’ version of both of them.
’If they were at full level, we wouldn’t last a second.’
Far off, Arman belched another stream of breath.
Black flames engulfed a ride and began to consume it.
On its own, it was threatening.
But compared to Arman ’s real power, it was nothing.
If this were the real Arman , it could burn all of New Capital to ash with a single breath.
And that wasn’t all.
If Jhin ,Millie, or the rest of the group faced the real Arman right now, they would probably die just from its gaze.
True high-level monsters had such intense killing intent that low-level players sometimes dropped dead just walking past them.
’Still, its traits are the same. The flames... they won’t go out.’
Bad news.
He had hoped the reduced stats would mean some traits were sealed.
But from the way those flames continued to burn—there were no guarantees.
’Black Flame.’
The flame of death that never extinguishes.
There were only two ways to put out Arman ’s fire.
Let it burn everything to ash... or have another dragon interfere to suppress it directly.
’For a player to deal with it, they need to strike it down with a Dragon Weapon.’
It was ironic, but true.
To face a dragon, you needed a weapon made from a dragon.
That was the only known strategy against dragon-type monsters.
It was a perfect example of Exodia’s notoriously brutal difficulty.
’That’s why dragonkind was always considered the strongest—and why they only appeared in S-rank dungeons.’
The battle raged on, neither side gaining a clear advantage.
In the process, nearby monsters were getting caught and crushed.
It was hard not to feel a little gratitude toward them for that.
"Ooooh! Lord Kyle!!"
"T-that’s really the king’s previous life?!"
Luke gasped in admiration, his cheeks flushed.
Lykan, too, was completely unable to contain his excitement as he watched the fight unfold.
The size difference alone was ridiculous—like a man versus a skyscraper.
And yet,Kyle was holding his own against Arman without hesitation.
Even to Jhin , it was a remarkable sight.
Seeing Kyle from a third-person perspective... he really did look cool.
To think that he was the one who had created such a character—it made him proud.
’Though... I do notice a few awkward moves.’
They were little mistakes. Things that only stood out if you knew Kyle’s full capabilities.
Jhin narrowed his eyes critically and opened his mouth to speak.
