Dungeon? This Tree? Why Don't You Join Me for Lunch? (Dungeon Core) -
Chapter 101: First Hurdle!
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: First Hurdle!
Now, I couldn’t just let my kids fight by themselves, now, could I?
No! I had a plan!
Why kill the Queen, when you can actually get her to join your Nymph Union?
It was a simple plan. A plan like no other! One doomed to fail, or so everyone told me!
And I really thought that everything was going to be fine, until I found out that...
She ate souls. Only souls. Which was why she was so thin. And that she was so model-like.
I didn’t like that.
Why eat souls, when there are perfectly good mushrooms to be eaten? Golden ones?
So... I began an operation by the name of: Get the Queen to Eat!
It was not something that was doomed to fail, I believed! I picked up my men and then tried to get to her. Everything was stored in my bottomless bag! I had all the materials I needed to get in her good graces!
Until...
"Well, how are we going to get there?" Amdis asked. I eyed his wings, he just snorted. "These are ornaments. Not for flying."
To be honest, that was what I had been thinking about them as well. They didn’t look like the wings of someone who soared the sky.
There were no eagle marks on them. Nor were there any signs that he was stronger than he should be.
He was just Amdis. Pretty, pink-haired Amdis, who had no place on this grown-up table!
Or so I thought, until he leveled me with a stern look.
"Look," he told me, as he began to smile at Nate, who took out something from his bottomless bag. "I might not be a horselord, but I am a good archer!"
I was reminded then that he was Belladonna’s nephew. She was a strong witch, and I was certain that he was strong as well!
Amdis took out a branch from the bottomless bag! I began to blink.
"Well," I told him because I didn’t know exactly what he wanted to achieve with it.
"No, don’t be sarcastic! Just look through my eyes," wait, what did he mean, don’t be sarcastic? Was I sarcastic?
Was I so sarcastic that people told me not to be?
Should I change?
"No, Sylvan," Aron told me, as he hugged me from behind. I melted into my big spoon with a smile. Ah, Aron. Those rock-hard abs had given me great joy.
And I was sure were going to allow him to do some serious damage to that witch, Mary!
"If you change, we would be faced with a being who is flawed, but not funny," he told me, as he flicked my nose. "Now you are flawed, but funny! That’s still something, don’t you agree?"
I nodded. Funny was good. Feeding your men was better. Being kind was the key!
"And, besides," he told me, as he began to pet me on the hair. I felt like a prized cat. It was nice and warm in his arms.
Safe.
"If you quit cooking, who is going to feed us all? Apart from Nate, all of us are only good for peeling potatoes," he chuckled at his own joke.
But I got an idea!
"No! I will teach you all to cook!" If I can teach Mordred, who had started off with baked oats which had given me indigestion and was now a master of the noble chocolate-chip muffin, then I could teach my men as well!
"You are not coming with us," Aron told me, biting my ear in parting. "Out of the question."
I snorted! So, what was I supposed to do in the Tree of Memories all day? Make snacks?
While my men were fighting?
"Lord Sylvan," the woman was familiar. I thought that I had seen her once before.
She had a silly hat on, her hair was short, but it looked so, as if she was trying to grow it long.
Her dress had so many frills on them that her curves were completely concealed.
That was a dress chosen by an older brother; I knew at that moment.
"My name is Fin," she bowed her head a bit. Aron tightened his grip on me. "And I would like to come and stay here, in the Tree of Memories."
"Why? So, you can harvest Sylvan’s organs?" Nate snapped, stepping before us.
"We know who you are!" Desmond snapped, stepping next to his partner.
"Lady Fin, please forgive Nathaniel and Desmond’s reactions. But you must understand that we love Sylvan. If you are here to harm him, we will have to go to war with you," and Solas, I could tell that Nick wanted to say Solas!
But Pan was with Solas! I couldn’t put my baby at risk!
I was old. I had finally felt joy.
There was little which I still had left to live for.
"Ok," I prepared myself to get a dagger between the ribs. I nearly heard my blood dripping on the stone floor.
But then!
"I would like to learn how to cook from you, Lord Sylvan," I had no idea since when I had become a lord, but that didn’t mean that I should be treated like one.
I was just the Foodie Nymph.
No one special.
"Ok, then," the princess, for I finally put two and two together, said with a smile. "Solas sent me to guard you. So, you wouldn’t do anything stupid. And... he does want me to learn to cook."
Nick sucked in a breath. He walked to the woman, placing a hand over her shoulder.
"If he tries to marry you off again, I will kill him," I didn’t know just what had happened between Alexios and Fin. I knew what had happened to Fin afterward, seeing as I had eavesdropped on Solas and Doran, but that was enough for me.
"We won’t be killing anyone," necromancers, so fatalistic. As if the world were just one big murder show! "But no one is marrying anyone, either!"
Which was ironic of me to say, seeing as Max was listening in. That Max, who stole my golems!
And was protecting my Tree of Memories together with Fin in exchange for his life...
