Chapter 357 - 357: Ch-357: Did I get kidnapped?

"You trash—didn't you hear my question?" the same disciple barked angrily, releasing a bit of his cultivation aura, which immediately caused several Outer Court disciples to pale.

"Enough!" snapped another voice as a different disciple stepped forward, releasing his own cultivation aura to counteract the pressure. "You guys from that peak are nothing but a bunch of mannerless savages. Is this how you go around questioning others?"

"Tsk," the first disciple clicked his tongue but said nothing, clearly weaker than the newcomer who had intervened.

"Hello," said the more polite disciple, stepping forward. "Could the person who reached the rankings please introduce themselves? We'd like to recommend you to our Peak Master."

The surrounding disciples looked at one another in confusion, surprised by the request. When no one stepped forward, the polite disciple frowned.

"Looks like they're not here," he said with a sigh.

"Well, I'm not surprised. Most likely the Sect Master or one of the Peak Masters already took him—or her—away," another added with a shrug. "We'll find out who it is sooner or later anyway."

A capsule placed outside the Serpent Building hummed softly before opening, and a handsome young man slowly opened his eyes with a groan.

"Ugh, my body feels numb from lying in the pod for so long," Wang Ming mumbled as the lingering numbness spread through his limbs. He groaned again, sat up, and was about to step out when his entire body froze at the sight before him.

Dozens of unfamiliar faces surrounded his capsule, all staring at him intently. What truly creeped him out, however, was the way they were looking at him—smiling, eyes glowing with intense desire, as if he were some priceless treasure they were determined to obtain at any cost.

A cold shiver ran down his spine when he noticed the way some of the men were looking at him—covetously. He had no issue being ogled by women, but getting that kind of attention from men made his skin crawl.

'Oh shit... did I get kidnapped while I was in the capsule?' Wang Ming thought, panic creeping into his mind. 'No—if that's the case, how did they even manage it in the first place? Are the Sect Master and Elders that incompetent? Or... are there traitors in the sect?'

That seemed to be the only explanation he could come up with. The last thing he remembered was being in a completely different room, surrounded by other disciples and dozens of capsules. Now, he was alone.

His expression darkened, eyes growing cold. Quietly, he began preparing to strike first if needed.

"Where is this place?" Min Li, who had just emerged from the capsule, looked around in confusion. The room was clearly different from the one she had seen before entering the VR world.

"Hmm, you're here too," Min Li heard a voice and turned to see Bai Lingxi, Shi Yu, and Luo Li looking at her. She recognized them immediately—they were Wang Ming's partners and possibly her future family as well. Her gaze paused on Bai Lingxi, and she shuddered slightly, recalling the latter's battle with Wang Ming.

"Yeah. Do you ladies know where we are?" Min Li asked.

"No idea. Let's go over there—looks like there are some people in that direction," Shi Yu said, pointing toward the distance where she sensed several auras. Min Li nodded and followed them.

"Sister Lingxi, why do you look a little pissed?" Luo Li asked casually.

"Ugh, of course I'm pissed. If there had been a bit more time, I could've raised my ranking and broken into the top 2000," Bai Lingxi grumbled. Shi Yu and Luo Li rolled their eyes but didn't refute her claim. Min Li, on the other hand, visibly trembled when she heard this, her eyes wide in disbelief as she looked at the group.

'Top 2000… does that mean…?' Min Li swallowed hard as realization hit her.

"Did you also make it into the rankings?" she asked, trying to calm her emotions.

"Yes, I did. Why?" Bai Lingxi replied nonchalantly.

"Nothing," Min Li responded in a calm voice.

'Yep, she's also a monster… I should've expected this,' Min Li thought to herself, already feeling numb from the mental shocks she'd received—first from Wang Ming, and now from Bai Lingxi. Still, having already witnessed Bai Lingxi's strength firsthand, she was able to regain her composure quickly.

"Hey, isn't that Wang Ming?" Luo Li suddenly said, pointing in the distance. Everyone looked over.

Wang Ming was currently surrounded by a group of people, and the girls began sweating when they noticed the covetous stares being thrown his way. Some of the strangers even looked ready to pounce on him.

'What the hell happened?' they all thought at once.

"Disciple Wang Ming, you're awake!"

Wang Ming was just inches away from drawing his weapon and launching an attack on the group, but before he could do anything, he saw Jiang Hong, Lei Ping, and Zhou Huixin pushing and shoving through the crowd to reach him.

"Sect Master, you're here... so I haven't been kidnapped?" Wang Ming asked genuinely, causing everyone's lips to twitch in disbelief.

"Of course not. Why would you think you'd been kidnapped?" Jiang Hong replied with an awkward cough.

"Honestly, seeing so many unfamiliar faces, I thought I had been kidnapped and they were after my organs or something. I was just a moment away from launching a sword technique," Wang Ming said.

It wasn't an exaggeration—evil cultivators were known to kidnap and kill others to harvest their organs, which could be used to make pills to help with breakthroughs.

The group surrounding him, as well as Jiang Hong, sweat-dropped upon hearing his explanation.

'Oh shit, good thing I intervened in time otherwise there would be few corpses here,' Jiang Hong thought while sweating, shuddering as he recalled the golden arcs Wang Ming had summoned to kill the beasts. He was certain that if he hadn't intervened, some of the Peak Masters might have been injured—or worse, killed.
