Chapter 988 - Chapter 988 Chapter 992 Earth Pavilion
Chapter 988: Chapter 992 Earth Pavilion Chapter 988: Chapter 992 Earth Pavilion Zhu Minglang shook his head and had no intention of telling Chang Gui the name of the God. He simply said, “Choose for yourself, whether to be a servant for life or to follow me in annihilating the Mo Family Fortress and freeing your entire tribe.”
…
Chang Gui was momentarily at a loss for words.
Initially, Chang Gui had planned to appeal to the great god by playing the sympathy card, hoping to persuade him to spare his life. He did not expect the other’s rhetoric to be equally adept, pushing him towards the revolution.
How formidable the Mo Family Fortress was–beneath it, the mechanisms were even more complex and perilous. Chang Gui knew that if he wished to survive, he was likely to follow. Although he did harbor a little hope that this god could defeat God Mo Shou, this hope was not substantial. After all, God Mo Shou had dominated Tian Ji Divine Area for many years. How could he be destroyed by a god of unknown origin?
“Then… then thank you for sparing my life, great god. I still need to consider the fate of my whole tribe. Better to live poorly than to die well, hehe, then I will go… Humph, what does ‘better to live poorly than to die well’ mean? As a Land God, I would rather die than submit. I must rise up, I must bring hope and light to my tribe!” Chang Gui said commandingly, looking like a revolutionary fighter who would never back down!
Zhu Minglang nodded in satisfaction. Only then did he command the Refining Ash Black Dragon to move its large fangs away from Chang Gui.
Indeed, it wasn’t worth a second thought.
…
Knowing there was an Earth Pavilion here, Zhu Minglang decided not to waste any more time in Puppet City.
He immediately met up with the others. As expected, after splitting up, everyone had been attacked to various extents. The puppets in the city were not inanimate; once they detected someone alone, they would eerily gather together and then, like evil spirits, launch a fierce attack on that person.
When Zhu Minglang found the He siblings, they were being trapped by a group of officer puppets in the labyrinthine alleys, indistinguishable from ghostly soldiers.
After helping them escape, Zhu Minglang went to look for Cai You.
Cai You was on a beggar street; she had virtually annihilated all the beggar puppets. When Zhu Minglang arrived, the street was littered with parts and debris.
“Our God!” Cai You saw Zhu Minglang and immediately ran up to him, looking aggrieved.
Zhu Minglang glanced at Cai You’s “I’m scared” demeanor, then at the entirety of the annihilated Puppet Beggar Gang…
Okay.
Just like most girls are afraid of spiders and cockroaches, Cai You’s fear was genuine.
But there were two types of such girls–one type would be terrified and cower, sitting in one spot with tears like pear blossoms; the other would scream in terror, all the while smashing and hammering with her shoes until the foe was completely disfigured, then cry her eyes out.
Chang Gui swallowed a gulp of saliva.
This girl, she was fierce!
The beggar puppets formed an elite group of the Puppet Beggar Gang. Each was imprinted with martial arts memories. An ordinary cultivator might not even be able to defeat a small beggar puppet, but this girl had annihilated the entire street!
…
The people of the Artifact God Sect were not so lucky; their strengths varied greatly and they lost quite a few members.
If there were any gains from this venture, it was grudgingly accepted because when they stormed in, they were already prepared to battle with the people of the Mo Family Fortress. Unfortunately, lingering in the Puppet City became pointless; it was a dead end.
“Is that really true?” Bei Yaoying frowned.
“I believe it’s highly credible,” said He Haohan, agreeing with Zhu Minglang.
“But if there is an Earth Pavilion here, why hasn’t there been any whisper of it in the outside world? It’s impossible that for decades every intruder was a fool, unable to discover this secret,” argued a silver-helmeted man from the Artifact God Sect.
“That’s because everyone who entered the Earth Pavilion has never come out alive,” murmured Chang Gui softly.
“The closer we get to the Mo Family Fortress, the more dangerous it becomes. Moreover, the mechanisms and traps that can be laid underground are even more terrifying, like entering a malevolent tomb. I’m here just to let everyone know, no matter what, I’m going ahead. Time is pressing; you all make your own decisions,” Zhu Minglang said to the people of the Artifact God Sect.
With the life or death of the Xuanlong uncertain, knowing that below lay numerous mechanisms with a slim chance of surviving, Zhu Minglang still had to venture forward!
“Don’t underestimate us, the Artifact God Sect. If a Loose Cultivator dares to go forth, why should we shrink back? Just lead the way, life and death be fated!” Bei Yaoying proved to be a tough man.
Zhu Minglang was not particularly informed about the feuds among the major forces of the Tian Ji Divine Area, but from Bei Yaoying’s words, it was clear that the Artifact God Sect and the Mo Family Fortress had deep grievances. This was no whimsical venture on their part!
Apparently, the Mo Family Fortress had angered many over the years, not only big factions like the Artifact God Sect, but many Loose Cultivators also hoped to topple them and thus make a name for themselves in the Divine Area.
…
After finding the entrance they used earlier, everyone began to trace their steps back, heading straight downward.
As they reversed their path, everything in the cave changed, whether it was those specimen dragons or the downward cave mechanisms, all were triggered, making their downward journey particularly difficult!
“Going upward triggers no mechanisms, but going down does; this means we’re on the right track!” said He Haohan.
“Yes, this design by Mo Shou is truly outrageous!”
“Indeed, Mo Shou has had all sorts of bizarre rumors about him before he became a god. It is said that in his youth, he turned his own mansion into a haunted house, causing the death of his family. Since then, Mo Shou has shuttered himself inside and dedicated himself to the study of mechanisms. Although some of his craftsmanship has benefitted many people, he has also exploited people’s greed, causing the deaths of many…” He Haohan said.
After finding the well shaft that Chang Gui spoke of, while everyone was still hesitant on how to explore the path, Zhu Minglang had already jumped straight down.
One must be cautious when necessary and bold when needed. Knowing there was an Earth Pavilion below, Zhu Minglang decisively plunged, not having much time to slowly play this mechanism game with the people from the Mo Family Fortress.
Falling straight down, Zhu Minglang finally landed in a cave pool, the pool water chillingly cold, penetrating his skin with bone-chilling coldness. Zhu Minglang immediately summoned the Nuwa Dragon, making it more comfortable for himself underwater.
The Nuwa Dragon swam ahead, and with a gentle exhale, the pool water parted like a curtain, sparing Zhu Minglang from lingering in the frigid water.
Soon, the others followed. Seeing that there was a deep, secluded pool in the cave, their faces showed signs of tension. People naturally fear water, especially in such a enclosed, gloomy pool with no visibility to its depths, God knows what terrifying things lie in wait for them at the bottom.
Continuously diving deeper and deeper, Zhu Minglang finally saw a huge stone door at the bottom of the pool, covered by silt. If it weren’t for the Nuwa Dragon clearing them away, no one would have known about this entrance at the bottom of the pool.
