Chapter 99: Deep Within Him

Lucas could feel Aurora’s fear radiating from her, but he couldn’t let it discourage him.

He knew exactly how much Alpha Grey wanted control—of the land, of power—and how far he would go to get it.

Lucas had given Alpha Grey a land in exchange for what he could not recall, but he now saw it for what it was—a mistake that had only strengthened the man.

With Leo’s life now hanging in the balance, it was clear that Alpha Grey was far more than just a ruthless Alpha King.

He was a wicked man, capable of unimaginable cruelty.

Lucas’s expression softened, his eyes filled with empathy as he spoke. "I understand more than you think, Aurora. But we can’t give in to your father’s demands. We need to find another way."

Aurora’s desperation quickly turned to frustration. "What other way? He has Leo! He’ll hurt him!"

Her voice cracked, and for a moment, she looked like she might fall apart right there.

Gabriel stepped forward, his voice calm and steady, providing a much-needed strength. "The police are working on tracing the call. We’ll find Leo, Mrs. Aurora."

Lucas’s jaw clenched, his face a mask of determination. "We’ll get Leo back, Aurora. And we’ll make sure your father pays for what he’s done."

Aurora seemed ready to argue again, her fists trembling at her sides.

But then, something gentle tugged at her sleeve—Aria, her daughter, who had been standing quietly beside Ava, pulled on her arm.

"Mommy?" Aria’s soft voice broke through the tension.

Her innocent eyes, wide with concern, cut through the storm of Aurora’s emotions.

Aurora blinked, taking a deep breath as she looked down at her daughter.

In that moment, the clarity hit her like a wave.

Shouting at Lucas wouldn’t help.

Being frustrated wouldn’t help.

Her father—Alpha Grey—was not a man who could be reasoned with. He was evil.

The fact that he could kidnap his own grandson, and the way her heart clenched in terror at the thought of what he might do to Leo, proved everything the rumors said about him.

She crouched down, gently cupping Aria’s face.

"Everything’s going to be okay," she whispered, trying to sound confident for her daughter’s sake.

As she stood back up, Aurora locked eyes with Lucas.

"You’re right," she said, her voice steadier now, filled with determination. "We can’t let him win. I’ll follow your plan."

Lucas gave a brief nod, grateful for her trust.

Ava, standing nearby, watched Aurora with quiet admiration. "You’re stronger than you think," she murmured, placing a comforting hand on Aurora’s shoulder.

Aurora smiled faintly at Ava before turning back to Lucas and Gabriel. "Let’s do this."

Lucas, Gabriel, and the team of cops had already traced Alpha Grey’s location to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.

The building, long forgotten and overgrown with weeds, had become the perfect hiding spot for someone like Alpha Grey—someone who thrived in the shadows.

Before they left, Aurora knelt down beside Derek and Ava, who were watching anxiously.

"Take Aria home," she instructed firmly, though her voice was laced with tenderness. "I’m going to get Leo back. I promise."

Ava and Derek exchanged glances but nodded in agreement, trusting Aurora’s decision.

"Be careful," Ava whispered, pulling Aurora in for a quick hug.

Aurora gave Aria one last kiss on the forehead, murmuring reassurances before straightening up and turning to face the road ahead.

---

With cautious accuracy, Lucas, Gabriel, Aurora, and the police approached the warehouse.

The night air was cool, and the gravel crunched under the tires as they rolled to a stop at a safe distance.

The cops moved swiftly, their weapons drawn, communicating silently through hand signals.

They were ready for whatever Alpha Grey had prepared.

Lucas, still on his wheelchair, watched as the officers took their positions around the building.

His hands gripped the armrests tightly, his mind racing with thoughts of Leo.

He couldn’t bear the idea of anything happening to the boy, but he also knew they had to proceed carefully.

Alpha Grey was a dangerous man, and Leo’s life hung in the balance.

Inside the warehouse, Alpha Grey paced back and forth, a cruel smirk curling on his lips.

He had Leo—his advantage—and he was confident that Lucas and Aurora would do exactly as he said. They had no choice.

Leo, tied to a chair in the corner, was sobbing quietly.

His face was streaked with tears, his small body trembling as he struggled against the ropes that held him in place.

"Mommy... I want my mommy," he whimpered, his voice barely a whisper.

Alpha Grey sneered at the boy.

"Stop crying, you little brat," he growled, his voice dripping with disdain.

But Leo, terrified, only cried harder.

Alpha Grey’s eyes narrowed, and he stalked toward the boy, leaning down so that their faces were inches apart.

"Your mommy isn’t coming for you," he hissed. "You’re all alone."

Leo’s sobs quieted, but the fear in his eyes only grew.

The warehouse was dark, dirty, and filled with shadows that seemed to swallow him whole.

He didn’t understand why this man was doing this. He just wanted to go home.

Outside, the team was ready.

With a signal from Gabriel, the police moved in.

The door burst open, and chaos erupted.

Alpha Grey spun around just as the first officer stormed into the room.

His guards rushed to protect him, but the police were faster.

Gunfire echoed through the warehouse as the guards were taken down one by one.

Gabriel moved like a shadow, taking out two of Alpha Grey’s men with swift, precise blows.

Lucas, from his wheelchair, directed the operation with a calm but commanding voice.

"Secure the exits!" he barked, watching as the officers moved into position. "Make sure no one gets out."

Aurora, focused only on her son, darted through the chaos, her heart pounding in her chest.

She spotted Leo in the corner, tied to the chair, his tear-streaked face looking so small and helpless.

"Leo!" she cried, rushing toward him.

Alpha Grey, now surrounded by police, didn’t even flinch as they slapped handcuffs on him.

His lips twisted into a dark, triumphant smile, but no one seemed to notice.

He had lost the battle, but there was something sinister lurking in his expression, a sense that he wasn’t done yet.

Aurora dropped to her knees beside Leo, her hands trembling as she untied the ropes.

"Mommy’s here," she whispered, pulling him into her arms the moment he was free.

Leo clung to her, his small body shaking with sobs, but she held him tight, whispering soothing words into his ear. "It’s okay, baby. Mommy’s here. You’re safe now."

Leo’s crying gradually subsided as he buried his face in Aurora’s neck, his tiny arms wrapped around her as if he never wanted to let go.

Across the room, Lucas watched as the last of Alpha Grey’s guards were hauled away, his sharp eyes tracking every movement.

When he glanced over at Aurora and Leo, something shifted inside him.

His mind drifted back to the hotel, where Leo and Aria had first called him their father.

The memory warmed something deep within him, a feeling he couldn’t quite explain.

He looked at Aurora, holding her son, and for the first time, he felt like he was part of something more—a family.
