Chapter 55: Boarding Gate
Feeling a creeping sense of curiosity as the silence stretched on, Sophia hesitated.
She gently pulled back and looked at Aurora. "But... are they sure Lucas did it?" she asked cautiously.
Aurora turned her face away, nodding slowly. "I was there, Sophia. I saw him beat Hades... and the evidence is all there. Lucas’s fingerprints were on the weapon—the silvery rod—and the ropes. There’s no chance they’ll think he’s innocent."
Sophia bit her lower lip, processing the information. "I see," she murmured. But she forced a smile, squeezing Aurora’s hand one last time. "Just try to relax, okay? It’ll work out."
Aurora nodded, her eyes tired and clouded with worry.
After some more time spent comforting Aurora, Sophia finally excused herself.
She made her way to her room, shutting the door behind her with a soft click.
Her hands lingered on the lock for a moment, trembling slightly.
As soon as she turned the latch, a flood of fear washed over her.
"This is bad... really bad," she thought, her heartbeat quickening.
Sophia moved quickly, her fear taking over as she started rummaging through her belongings, throwing clothes and essentials into a luggage.
She needed to leave.
She had to protect her mother before Hades ruined everything.
Once she packed her things, she grabbed her phone and dialled her mother’s doctor.
The phone rang twice before a familiar voice answered.
"Sophia? What’s going on?"
"I need a favour," Sophia said, her voice tight with urgency.
The doctor hesitated for a moment. "I’ll help you, but only if you can pay me."
Sophia’s heart sank.
Of course... the money.
She thought quickly, knowing she didn’t have the funds, but she couldn’t let that stop her. "I’ll get the money. Whatever you need, I’ll pay it."
The doctor’s tone shifted to one of satisfaction. "Alright. What do you need?"
"I need my mother moved—out of that hospital and transferred somewhere far away, to a hospital outside the country," Sophia said, her voice firm.
The doctor paused, sounding sceptical. "That’s going to be difficult with Hades’s men watching her so closely."
"You’re my friend," Sophia pressed. "Help me. Find a way to transfer her. I’ll get you the money—don’t worry about that."
There was another pause, and then the doctor sighed. "Fine. I’ll figure it out. But you better have the payment ready."
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you." She hung up and sat on the edge of her bed, mind racing.
"I need the money," she thought.
Ten million dollars.
She’d have to get a loan, no matter the cost. There was no time to waste.
Determined, Sophia quickly finished packing her luggage, her thoughts a storm of anger and fear.
"That devil, Hades is trying to ruin everyone’s lives," she thought bitterly. "But he won’t ruin mine... or my mother’s."
With her decision made, she grabbed her things and rushed out the door, determined to secure the loan and book a flight far away from Hades’s reach.

Sophia stood at the airport boarding gate, her heart pounding with both excitement and relief.
She clutched her luggage tightly, eager to escape.
When the gate agent reached for her boarding pass, Sophia presented it with a bright smile, trying to mask the nervousness fluttering beneath her skin.
The gate agent scanned the pass and confirmed her details.
"You’re all set," the agent said, handing it back with a polite nod.
"Thank you," Sophia replied, taking it with a tight grip, eager to board the plane and leave everything behind.
As she stepped toward the jet bridge, she couldn’t help but think of Aurora, feeling a brief flicker of pity.
"Poor girl," she thought. But then she shook it off. "I’ve done my part. She’ll figure it out."
She remembered the note she had left in her room, lying on the bed for Aurora to find.
In it, Sophia had laid out everything—how Hades had manipulated and controlled her, how far he’d go to get what he wanted.
The truth about his schemes was there, waiting for Aurora to discover.
A small part of her hoped Aurora would read it and see the man for what he truly was.
Just as Sophia was about to step forward and leave it all behind, a voice rang out.
"Sophia!"
She froze, her heart lurching.
Slowly, Sophia turned around, and there, storming toward her, was Aurora, her heels clicking sharply on the polished airport floor.
Aurora’s fitted black gown hugged her figure, emphasizing her barely noticeable bump and a sleek black jacket draped elegantly over her shoulders.
Her eyes were fierce, radiating anger and determination, and each step she took sent a clear message: she wasn’t here to talk.
Sophia barely had time to register the sight before Aurora reached her.
Aurora’s hand flashed out, delivering a swift slap.
The sudden burst of force snapped Sophia’s head to the side.
The sharp sting on her cheek hit her instantly, followed by the overwhelming shock.
Sophia stumbled, disoriented, her legs giving way as she collapsed to the floor.
Her mind raced, trying to catch up to what had just happened.
The sting on her face throbbed, and the embarrassment of being struck in public washed over her.
She looked up, wide-eyed, at Aurora, who stood over her with her hand still raised, the adrenaline from the slap evident in her tense posture.
Aurora’s breathing was heavy, and for a moment, she seemed to savour the impact, her emotions still raw and coursing through her.
The guards behind her stood motionless, their presence menacing.
Sophia’s face burned with both pain and anger. She tried to push herself off the floor, but her head was still spinning from the sudden blow.
Aurora glared down at Sophia, her eyes burning with fury. "You’re despicable," she spat, her voice trembling with barely contained rage. "Trying to run off after what you’ve done, huh?"
Sophia, still touching her throbbing cheek, stared up at Aurora in disbelief.
Never in a million years had she imagined Aurora would slap her—Aurora, the calm and composed one, the one who’d always seemed to hold it together.
The slap had stunned her, but the words stung even more.
She struggled to find her voice, her fingers pressed against the red mark on her face as if trying to soothe both the physical and emotional blow.
Aurora’s gaze flicked toward the guards, her anger still simmering.
"Take her away," she ordered coldly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
