Divorced and Chased by My Alpha Billionaire Ex-Husband -
Chapter 122: Epilogue
Chapter 122: Epilogue
Nana Rossi’s mansion was filled with cheerful hustle and bustle of birthday preparations.
Streamers, balloons, and decorations were already half done from the night before, but Aurora had come early with Aria and Leo to give it the finishing touches.
And tagging along—excitedly bouncing with energy—was Caleb, thrilled at the chance of celebrating his Great Nana’s birthday.
Aurora directed the kids as they gathered around the table laden with supplies.
"Alright, we’ve got streamers, balloons, flowers... and I think Nana will love those ribbon curls we’re putting up by the windows," she said, smiling at their eager little faces. "Who’s ready to help me make this the best birthday Nana’s ever had?"
"Me!" Aria and Leo shouted in unison, raising their hands and giggling as they exchanged grins.
Caleb nodded solemnly, keeping his eye on the ribbons. He loved birthdays, but he wasn’t so sure about sharing his Great Nana with Aria and Leo.
Nana was his special person, after all, and he hoped his "mean Mommy" would make sure these two knew it.
Still, there was fun to be had, and he didn’t mind pitching in.
Aurora handed Aria a pile of blue streamers. "Aria, could you drape these around the chairs? Make them look all fancy for Nana."
Aria nodded excitedly and scampered off, carefully arranging the streamers with all the focus her little hands could manage.
"Leo, can you help me with the flowers? We’re going to line them along the side table," Aurora continued, smiling at her son, who was already pulling the blooms from their basket and placing them in a row. "But remember, Nana loves neat arrangements!"
"Like this?" Leo asked, arranging them into a pattern that was decidedly more ’creative’ than ’neat.’
Aurora chuckled. "Close enough."
Caleb watched them work, a frown pulling at his face, but he remained silent, determined to do a good job.
Aurora noticed and crouched beside him, offering a ribbon in a shade of purple. "Caleb, do you think you could handle these bows? Nana’s going to love seeing what you make."
Caleb’s face brightened just a bit as he took the ribbon and began tying it around the chairs, trying to match the skills he’d seen previously.
He glanced back at Aria and Leo every now and then, secretly hoping they wouldn’t make any mess of his Great Nana’s special day.
As they continued, Aria looked up at Aurora. "Mommy, is Nana going to wear her crown today?"
"Oh, I’m sure she will," Aurora replied with a smile. "She loves wearing that crown whenever she can."
"She’s the queen of the party!" Aria squealed.
Caleb’s eyes narrowed slightly as he took a deep breath and looked up at Aurora. "Well, she’s my Great Nana, you know."
Aurora gave him a reassuring smile. "She’s everyone’s Great Nana today, Caleb. And I know she’ll love knowing you all helped make her day so special."
Caleb pursed his lips, a small pout forming as he tried to focus on tying the ribbons instead of worrying about sharing. He was going to make sure his Great Nana remembered who was the best helper.
The door creaked open, and Lucas rolled into the room in his wheelchair, his face lighting up at the sight of all the hard work going on.
"Are you all almost done with that?" he asked with a chuckle. "Because the baker just delivered Nana’s cake."
"Oh, almost, Lucas!" Aurora said, her face brightening. "Just a few finishing touches left."
Caleb’s eyes lit up with excitement. "Daddy, you should hurry up and pick up Nana so she can come quickly!" He could barely keep still, imagining his Great Nana’s delighted face when she saw everything.
Lucas chuckled, nodding. "Sure thing, buddy. I’ll bring her as soon as you’re all ready."
Lucas cast a warm look in Aurora’s direction before heading out, and Aurora found herself smiling back, a flutter in her chest at the way his eyes lingered on her.
She watched him go, feeling a spark of joy at how seamlessly Lucas had become part of these moments with her and the kids.
Once Lucas left, Aurora clapped her hands gently to refocus the kids. "Alright, team, let’s make this the best-looking room Nana has ever seen. Caleb, how’s the ribbons going?"
Caleb’s little fingers were hard at work, but he paused to look proudly at his handiwork. "They’re perfect, Mrs. Aurora. Nana’s going to know I did the best job."
Aurora smiled, a soft laugh escaping her. "I think she’ll love every bit of it, from all of you."
Aria popped up beside Caleb, tugging on his sleeve with a mischievous grin. "Caleb, I bet Nana’s gonna love my streamers the most!"
Caleb crossed his arms, lifting his chin. "We’ll see. Great Nana knows who really knows her best."
Aurora placed a gentle hand on Caleb’s shoulder, sensing his need for reassurance. "Caleb, Nana’s going to love everything—and she’s going to be so happy to see how much you all worked to make this day so beautiful."
The kids continued their tasks, working together and sharing supplies in a way that warmed Aurora’s heart.
As the last of the decorations went up, Aurora looked around, satisfied that they’d created a truly magical space.
A little while later, Lucas returned with Nana in tow. She entered the room, her face lighting up with surprise and joy at the sight of the colorful decorations and the proud smiles of the children.
"Oh my goodness!" Nana exclaimed, clapping her hands. "This is the most beautiful birthday surprise I’ve ever seen!"
Aria, Leo, and Caleb beamed with pride, running to her with arms outstretched.
"Happy birthday, Nana!" they chorused, their voices filled with excitement.
Nana pulled each of them into a warm hug, her face beaming. "Thank you, my darlings. You all did such a wonderful job. This room looks like it’s fit for a queen!"
Caleb gave her a tight hug, whispering, "Great Nana, I did the ribbons. Just for you."
Nana smiled, placing a gentle hand on his cheek. "They’re lovely, Caleb. I can tell you put a lot of care into them."
As they gathered around, Aurora noticed the warm smile on Lucas’s face as he watched them, the look of contentment in his eyes unmistakable. She felt her heart swell with gratitude for this new beginning, for the chance to share these moments as a family.
"Shall we bring out the cake?" Aurora asked, glancing over at Lucas with a playful smile.
He nodded, his gaze meeting hers. "I think it’s time."
The children cheered, clapping their hands as they eagerly awaited the cake’s arrival. And as they sang "Happy Birthday" to Nana, Aurora felt a deep warmth settle within her. The joy of family, of laughter, of being with the people she loved—it was a feeling she never wanted to let go of.
When the song ended and Nana blew out her candles, Lucas reached over, taking Aurora’s hand in his, a gesture filled with quiet affection and a promise of all the happy moments still to come.
The birthday celebration carried on in a lively, joyful atmosphere. Nana was still smiling brightly, surrounded by the love of her family.
Streamers and balloons adorned every corner of the room, the kids were still buzzing with excitement, and Lucas watched the scene from his wheelchair.
However, as he watched the others enjoying the party, he noted two missing faces.
Nora and his mother, as always, had opted out of family gatherings, claiming to be "too busy."
Just as Lucas’s gaze drifted over to the door, it swung open, and Gabriel, his assistant, entered the room with an unusually tense expression.
Catching Lucas’s eye, Gabriel made his way over, respectfully keeping his voice low so as not to disturb the others.
"Sir, I have some surprising news to share with you," Gabriel said.
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" he murmured, leaning back in his wheelchair, slightly wary of what this surprise could be.
Without a word, Gabriel handed him a sealed envelope.
Lucas took it with a slight nod, peeling it open and pulling out the document inside.
As his eyes scanned the paper, he quickly realized what it was—a DNA test result for Caleb.
His eyebrow twitched, and he let out a scoff before he handed it back to Gabriel, the faintest trace of bitterness in his expression.
Gabriel seemed taken aback by his reaction. "Sir, are you just going to ignore it? Caleb is not your biological—"
"I know, Gabriel," Lucas interrupted, his voice calm but firm. "I’ve known since I caught Julia cheating on me a few years ago. Caleb might not be my biological son, but he’s still my son. I’ve loved him since the day he was born, and he’s still part of the Rossi family."
Gabriel’s eyes widened slightly, surprised at Lucas’s composed response.
Lucas’s loyalty to Caleb was strong, and he could see that no paper could shake the fatherly bond Lucas had with the boy.
"And as for Julia," Lucas continued, his voice carrying a quiet intensity, "if she thinks she can worm her way back into my family, she’s sorely mistaken. I’ll personally throw her out myself if she tries. I’m done with her games. If she even dares to hurt anyone I care about or tries to come between us, I’ll ruin her."
Gabriel nodded, admiration evident in his expression.
He knew Lucas’s strength and loyalty ran deep, but hearing his commitment to Caleb and his family was something else.
"Understood, sir," Gabriel replied, his voice steady.
"Thank you, Gabriel," Lucas said, his eyes flickering toward the lively group in the center of the room. "Now, let’s keep this between us. Today is Nana’s day, and nothing is going to spoil that."
With that, Gabriel offered a respectful nod and stepped away, leaving Lucas to rejoin the celebrations with his family.
