Chapter 98: Take you
Chapter 98: Take you
Quinn let her vent, not interrupting. Only when her voice grew quiet did he lean in, his fingers grazing the wound on her neck.
His expression darkened as his thumb traced the faint marks left by fangs. "Did he do this?" His voice carried a possessive edge, his gaze locked on the injury.
She scoffed and answered, "Why does it matter?" Her tone was hollow as she added, "I don’t even know who he truly is anymore. Everything’s a mess."
Quinn, who was focused on the injury, repeated, "I asked if he did this." Bent on knowing who injured her.
His intensity forced her to meet his eyes. A bitter laugh escaped her lips. "Yes. Are you satisfied now?"
He said nothing. He only stared, his gaze fixated on the wound, unreadable.
"You know..." she began, watching him carefully. "It’s strange how you are always here when I break down these days. It used to be Mia. But now..." A single tear slipped down her cheek. She wiped it away before it could fall further. "How ironic life can be."
Quinn caught her hand before she could lower it. His grip was warm, grounding.
He urged, "Let it out." His voice was quiet, and sincere. "I am not leaving your side this time." He promised.
Belle’s lips parted, but no words came. The tears she had been holding back finally fell, one after another, until she was sobbing into his chest. He pulled her into his arms, his hand stroking slow, soothing circles along her back. He didn’t speak, didn’t rush her, just let her be.
Minutes passed before her cries quieted. Her breathing steadied and she lifted her head.
Quinn studied her face for a moment, then asked, "Can I kiss you?" Taking her off guard. She didn’t answer, nor reacted, just stared at him blankly.
Taking her silence as permission, he leaned in, pausing just enough to see if she would stop him. When she didn’t, he pressed his lips to hers.
Belle’s eyes fluttered closed. Her lips parted, surrendering to him.
Quinn pulled her closer, his hand slipping around her waist as he deepened the kiss. It was slow, intense, and laced with need.
Belle tilted her head back, granting him more access.
When he pulled away slightly, it was only to let her catch her breath before capturing her lips once more, this time with a passion that made her fingers dig into his shoulders for balance.
Without thinking, her hand slipped into his hair, running through them, igniting something raw within him.
He moved lower, trailing soft, lingering kisses down to her wounded neck. His tongue swept over the bite, and Belle gasped.
"Qui...oh!" A moan slipped past her lips as heat coiled inside her.
She felt only pleasure, unaware that Quinn wasn’t just kissing her, he was healing her wound, replacing Hezekiah’s mark with his own. He bit down gently, soothing each sting with his tongue, the mix of pain and pleasure sending shivers through her.
Leaning close, his lips brushed against her ear as he whispered, "I am never giving you to him again."
And then, before she could speak, he claimed her lips once more.
Belle wanted to protest, to pull away and say no, but she was too lost in the moment. Just for tonight, she wanted to be shameless, to give in to desire, to take what she had long craved. He was here, within reach. Why shouldn’t she allow herself this selfish indulgence?
Quinn withdrew slightly, only to trail his lips lower, pressing lingering kisses along her cleavage. A louder moan slipped from her lips, her body arching instinctively toward him.
Outside the room, an unseen presence stood frozen in shock. It was Mia, finding herself at a lose for actions.
She had come to check on Belle at Hezekiah’s request, but she hadn’t expected this. The sounds from inside made it painfully clear what was happening. Had Hezekiah done something to drive Belle into Quinn’s arms? Judging by the look on his face when he sent her here, he must have made a grave mistake.
Mia’s first instinct was to storm in and put a stop to it. But as she hesitated, doubt crept in. Could this be what Belle want?
With a quiet sigh, she chose to stand guard instead, ensuring no one else interrupted them. Maybe she had been too hard on Belle. Maybe Quinn had always been the one for her. Everyone deserves a second chance, and if Quinn kept his promise—if he truly made Belle happy, who was she to interfere?
Inside, Quinn suddenly pulled back completely.
"I won’t take you like this," he murmured. "Not when you are vulnerable. Not when you are seeking comfort instead of me."
Belle’s breath caught. She met his gaze and saw nothing but restraint...control.
Shame rushed through her. She lowered her head, unable to face him. "I am sorry. I shouldn’t have given in."
He said nothing, simply watching her.
"It’s going to be a rough day from tomorrow," he said instead, shifting the subject. "I am staying with you tonight."
Belle opened her mouth to object, but before she could speak, he eased her down onto the bed, settling in beside her. He wrapped an arm around her, drawing her against his chest.
"We can’t do this," she whispered, glancing toward the door. "Anyone could walk in."
"I don’t care." His hold tightened.
Belle exhaled, knowing it was useless to argue. Slowly, she let go of the tension in her body and relaxed against him.
Quinn smirked to himself. He had sensed Mia’s presence the moment their kiss ended, yet she hadn’t intervened. That meant they were safe from interruption. It seemed like Mia was also having doubts about Belle’s happiness too.
He turned his head slightly to glance at Belle and found her already asleep. His smile faded. How exhausted she must be. The past two days had been nothing but torture for her and that was why he was never letting her go again.
He brushed a loose strand of hair from her face.
He wished he could go confront Kia that moment but remembering tomorrow’s plan, he decided he could wait. For now, he would cherish this moment. Because after tonight, he might not get another like this.
Belle’s safety was all that mattered. He could not bear leaving her alone with Hezekiah, the ministers, and her father while he left for war again. Her father would live a living hell for her and Hezekiah would be forced to watch as a King. He wouldn’t make the same mistake twice of leaving her again, it cost him gravely.
Also he was no king, he had no kingdom to rule, he had no priorities, she was his only priority.
