Chapter 284: Chapter 248 What Cybertron Liu Bei
Zhang Ningzhi immediately pressed her elbow on the note and sat upright.
With a sidelong glance, she looked around to ensure it was safe before quietly opening the note.
"I’m going to take a nap, wake me if something happens."
After reading it, Zhang Ningzhi frowned. She wrote a big "No" on the paper with a huff and stealthily tossed it back to Jiang Nian.
Not long after, the note rolled back.
Her hastily written "No" had been modified with a red pen by someone, turning it into...
"No-need to worry."
Below was a reply from that someone, "Thanks orz."
What’s orz mean?
Initially, Zhang Ningzhi speculated that it was her own abbreviation. But thinking it over, she realized it didn’t make sense, as it should be znz, or even 3z for her nickname Zhizhi.
So, what does or mean?
Or z?
It made no sense at all.
Unknowingly, Zhang Ningzhi’s mind was consumed with deciphering it. After pondering for a while without results, she had to ask the source.
She patted Jiang Nian and scribbled orz in his book, softly asking.
"What does this mean?"
Seeing this, Jiang Nian glanced at the podium before responding.
"It’s bowing in gratitude."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi was momentarily stunned and looked carefully.
Indeed, orz looked like a little baby person bowing deeply.
At first glance, it quite resembled Jiang Nian.
Zhang Ningzhi clenched her fist, suppressing the urge to smile. She kept a straight face, stared at him, and said.
"Boring."
Jiang Nian was indifferent.
Thinking, if it was really boring, you wouldn’t have been guessing for so long. Wait till I doodle some indecipherable letter symbols, and you’ll behave.
He had picked it up from a novel, where the sly author used letter people to dramatize spring nights to evade censorship, vividly lifelike.
Someone might have even gotten excited over it, lightly humming to the letters.
Li Hua, who wasn’t sleepy during the Chinese lesson, was quite troubled. He felt he was wasting the most crucial forty-five minutes of his life and wouldn’t love anymore.
He turned his head, looked left and right, and glimpsed the orz on Jiang Nian’s book.
"Who are you bowing to?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Nian glanced at him and replied.
"Just scribbling around."
"Tsk tsk, can’t misuse letters." Li Hua shook his head and commented in a low voice, "According to unofficial history, Hua Tuo asked Guan Yu while scraping bones to heal."
"General, do you know who killed my son Hua Xiong? Guan Yu was drenched in cold sweat and had to tell the truth, saying it was killed by win9."
Li Hua wrote the term win9 on Jiang Nian’s book, raising his eyebrows and asked.
"Is cutting Hua Xiong after warming the wine impressive or not?"
Jiang Nian was speechless and retorted, "Idiot."
On the podium, Lao Liu was passionately teaching and noticed someone asleep. So he simply circled the class with his book while lecturing.
This made it impossible for Jiang Nian to sleep; he’d have to wait for Lao Liu to finish his round from the third group.
Out of boredom, he pulled Li Hua over and narrated even wilder lore.
"It’s said after Sun Ce’s death, Sun Quan had an affair with Da Qiao. While entangled, Da Qiao would always call out the wrong names, sometimes Bofu, other times Zhongmou, hence the expression indistinguishable between the two."
Li Hua was dumbfounded, muttering, "Damn."
"Where the hell did you hear that?"
"From story gatherings." Jiang Nian propped his head with his hand, "I’ve also read about Dong Zhuo testing loyalty using Diao Chan, and Optimus Prime selling hooks on Cybertron before becoming a leader."
"Selling hooks? Li Hua murmured, then suddenly realized, "Holy crap, real hooks? What Cybertron Liu Bei! Reviving Cybertron, huh?"
Saying this, Lao Liu had already passed by the rear row on his patrol.
Both immediately fell silent.
After a few minutes, Jiang Nian directly fell asleep, roughly for ten minutes.
He enjoyed the pleasure of napping, then woke up feeling refreshed.
Li Hua suddenly sensed commotion from Jiang Nian beside him, turned his head, and was stunned.
"Weren’t you just asleep?"
"Yeah, but I’m awake now." Jiang Nian nonchalantly pulled out a science exam paper, folding it to start doing it slowly, "Don’t make a fuss, listen to the lecture."
As the lesson ended, the entire class was sprawled out.
The following two comprehensive science lessons drove people crazy, with about a dozen standing at the back to listen.
For a while, the seats in the class seemed vacant.
During the last period, both Li Hua and Ma Guojun joined them at the back. Ma Guojun was truly sleepy and wanted to listen well. Li Hua, on the other hand, purely wanted to chat.
Jiang Nian was busy answering questions and mostly ignored him, leaving Li Hua frustrated, twisting around with restless talent unseen by anyone else.
Perhaps only by becoming op.....
After a whole afternoon passed by, Jiang Nian was planning on getting dinner after school.
So far, he still maintained the habit of being a solitary wolf in the cafeteria. Unless on a whim or having made plans with others, he mostly went to eat alone.
Have people invited him to join them? Yes, but the timing never worked, and he couldn’t be bothered to coordinate.
As Jiang Nian was about to head to the cafeteria to hunt down food, mulling over which side’s cafeteria to grace with his presence.
He caught a glimpse of Zhang Ningzhi still at her seat doing homework, and couldn’t help but ask.
"Why aren’t you going to eat?"
"I’ll go in a bit."
"Hmm... Who’s ’in a bit’?"
Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi helplessly looked up, somewhat speechless.
"I’ll go eat in five more minutes."
"Oh, okay." Jiang Nian decided to eat outside the school, took a few steps but turned back to her, "What do you want to drink tonight? I’ll treat you."
"Fruit milk, please." she replied.
"Okay."
Jiang Nian turned and left the classroom; he liked people who spoke clearly.
If Zhang Ningzhi had said ’whatever,’ he would have exploded, wondering where to find ’whatever.’
By evening, outside the West Gate.
The dim street was full of honking noises, likely due to a traffic jam up ahead.
This area’s streets were narrow, coupled with a short pedestrian street nearby. This led to many people setting up stalls selling snacks, often causing traffic jams in the evening.
Taillights flashed red, and the crowd was dense.
Zhang Ningzhi stopped to catch her breath, glancing at her watch.
With fifteen minutes left until evening self-study and the West Gate in sight, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After grabbing a meal nearby, she nearly missed evening self-study.
Just as Zhang Ningzhi was about to move forward, someone suddenly called her name.
Turning her head, she saw it was a boy from her old class.
In truth, Zhang Ningzhi wasn’t familiar with him, only remembering a name.
She roughly knew his grades were decent, but only decent within a parallel class.
Because of the competition for class promotion, she had a slightly deeper impression of him. Back then, they had little interaction in class and barely spoke.
Now, suddenly being called by him, Zhang Ningzhi was puzzled, not knowing what the boy intended.
Seeing the boy approaching, Zhang Ningzhi worried about being late but, out of basic courtesy, waited for him.
"Oh, it’s you. What’s up?"
The boy had a rather delicate appearance and was of average height among his peers.
He smiled at Zhang Ningzhi but didn’t dare look her in the eyes, half-jokingly saying, "Do you still remember me?"
"What’s the matter?" Zhang Ningzhi wasn’t keen on chatting, especially without much intersection before. She said seriously, "Evening self-study is about to start, I’m almost late."
"No issue, just saw you, it’s been a while." The boy didn’t mind, opening up, "Let’s walk while we talk. I saw your last joint exam score."
"Over 630, that’s incredibly high. How did you pull that off?"
"Could you teach me sometime, we’re old classmates after all. Not too much to reveal, right? I really do admire you, especially since joining the Olympic competition class, your scores have only gotten higher."
"I didn’t do so well, only scoring over 530 in the last joint exam, a hundred less than you."
"I had a chance to join the Olympic competition too, but back then, I didn’t beat you, plain and simple. Lost to you in the first baseline test, and couldn’t secure a spot in the second major exam due to limited openings."
"Oh, you’re in the third Olympic competition class, right?"
Faced with the boy’s endless dialogue, Zhang Ningzhi seemed somewhat rigid. She wasn’t good at conversing with strangers, let alone former classmates.
"Yeah... yeah, probably." Zhang Ningzhi only thought about getting to the teaching building quickly, then she could use the restroom excuse to ditch him, "I’m almost late."
"Oh, oh, then let’s quicken our pace." The boy said, "By the way, could you accept my friend request?"
Zhang Ningzhi froze, uncertain of how to respond.
Suddenly, an attractive hand emerged from the crowd, gently tugging at her wrist with a soft tug.
