Chapter 150: Chapter 126 Milk Tea Shop_2
The mere thought of it feels sinister.
The school is doing this on purpose as well. There are too many couples at Zhenan Middle School. If the school dares to give the students one night off, they’ll just be welcoming the birth of even more young couples.
Besides, the morning is suited for classes, and the evening is suited for studying.
Considering everything, they simply gave us the afternoon off.
Zhang Ningzhi used the excuse of going to the restroom to sneakily pay the bill at the front desk. After returning and hanging out a while, as soon as Jiang Nian finished eating, they left together.
"Is there a supermarket downstairs? Wanna take a look?"
"Sure." She nodded.
Her plan only went as far as eating in the city, and she was clueless about what to do next. Hearing Jiang Nian’s suggestion, she immediately felt excited.
The supermarket was on the basement level, and the two searched for the elevator for a while before slowly descending.
Jiang Nian, with his sharp eyes, spotted a scratch card station with a crowd gathered around it.
"Over there, want to play?"
Zhang Ningzhi was stunned for a moment, "I’ve never played before."
"No worries, it’s very simple. I’ll treat you to a game," Jiang Nian explained. "The rules are written on it. Just scratch, usually, you neither lose nor gain much."
She glanced at the prices, "One card is enough."
"Alright, one each."
Jiang Nian looked and saw the individual ones were already sold out. Some people were squatting down eagerly as the clerk pulled out a newly opened stack, and the crowd surged forward immediately.
He also scanned to buy two twenty-yuan cards. Scratching one, he won a guaranteed prize, just breaking even.
Zhang Ningzhi scratched carefully, unsure why she was so nervous. When asked if she understood the rules, she shook her head, saying she hadn’t looked, leaving Jiang Nian feeling a bit embarrassed.
Why be nervous if you haven’t even read it?
Looking for nonexistent enemies?
Once Zhang Ningzhi finished scratching, Jiang Nian leaned over to check with her.
"It’s a win!"
"Huh? Did I win? How much?" Zhang Ningzhi asked, confused, with the tiny words packed densely, making her dizzy, especially with him standing right next to her...
"Whoa, two hundred!"
"Really?" Zhang Ningzhi was surprised but visibly delighted. "Then, um... how do I claim the prize? Will it be troublesome?"
"No, just give me your phone," Jiang Nian wanted to joke about a loan.
Unfortunately, Zhang Ningzhi was too honest and handed him her unlocked phone.
Even though Jiang Nian was tempted to look at how Zhang Ningzhi had saved his name, he held back, respecting her privacy.
"Uh, open the receiving code," he said.
"Okay." Zhang Ningzhi fumbled a bit and opened the payment code instead.
Jiang Nian: "..."
With a ding, two hundred yuan was deposited.
"Here," Jiang Nian handed the phone back to Zhang Ningzhi, smiling, "You’re really lucky today."
Zhang Ningzhi beamed, "I think so too."
The two wandered around the supermarket, sticking to the classic "just looking, not buying" approach. After all, buying snacks at the supermarket isn’t cost-effective, so they only bought some fruit and yogurt.
At the checkout, Jiang Nian casually paid the bill.
"Huh?"
"You treated me to a meal, so I’ll cover this. It’s only fair."
"But you paid for the cab fare, and just a moment ago, the scratch cards..." Zhang Ningzhi suddenly seemed less confused, counting on her fingers, "and the yogurt..."
"Stop, it wasn’t much money."
"But it was supposed to be my treat for you, dragging you to the city like this." Zhang Ningzhi felt a bit guilty.
Jiang Nian: "....."
Sometimes it’s not about showing off; he genuinely wanted to flash his bank card balance.
No more hiding, it’s out in the open now.
The thing is, he wasn’t showing off; he usually spent money normally.
Luckily, Jiang Nian had many tricks up his sleeve, and Zhang Ningzhi accepted his reasoning after a short while. Not listening? Then don’t cry when we change seats next week, buddy’s leaving.
Can’t deny, that move was quite effective.
Once they felt sufficiently digested, they went into a bubble tea shop. They got two cups of fruit tea to go and, with no more plans, they prepared to take a cab back to Zhen Nan.
After all, it wasn’t a real date.
The drop-off point was at the gate of Nanjiang Bay community. Zhang Ningzhi needed to go home to freshen up. Perhaps take a nap, or wash her hair, stuff girls care about.
After getting out, Zhang Ningzhi waved the bag at him.
"Bye-bye, see you tonight at study hall."
Jiang Nian waved back, "Bye-bye."
As he turned to leave, he instinctively looked up at the tall buildings of Nanjiang Bay. He felt neither emotion nor inferiority, not feeling anything.
Zhen Nan is still too small.
Buzz, buzz, the phone rang.
Jiang Nian thought it was Zhang Ningzhi messaging him, but it was Xu Qianqian instead.
"I’m treating you to bubble tea."
"You’re this kind-hearted?" Jiang Nian broke into a sweat, then typed and asked, "Which bubble tea shop are you guys at?"
"Wow, you guessed it right?" Xu Qianqian was typing, sending a cute emoji, "At Seven Cats, bring some snacks over."
Jiang Nian: "(Sending you a punch)"
At the Seven Cats bubble tea shop.
Xu Qianqian put away her phone. The table was full of test papers and study materials. Even knowing she couldn’t finish them all, she still brought them, just for the atmosphere.
"Found someone nice to foot the bill."
"Who?" Song Xiyun looked up from her test paper.
"Who else but that jerk Jiang," Xu Qianqian grumbled for a while, accusing, "He clearly has money, yet he’s mooched three meals from me!"
"Him? Is he coming soon?" Song Xiyun agreed deeply.
"Yeah, and he’ll bring snacks," Xu Qianqian squinted her eyes and leaned back, "Let’s play cards when he gets here, perfect for relaxing."
"Okay." Song Xiyun nodded, squeezed her legs together, and whispered, "Qianqian, I need to go to the restroom, but why is it always occupied on the second floor?"
Upon hearing this, Xu Qianqian hesitated for a moment.
There are some things she really doesn’t want to know, but she couldn’t escape having a bad influence around. She knew quite well about the little tricks in the bubble tea shop, but how to explain it?
After contemplating, she ducked her head and asked for help via her phone.
Not long after, Jiang Nian replied.
[Shout a couple of words near the restroom, just say the toilet’s door is broken, and ask the boss to check. Say it and leave, and you should be able to go in after a minute, but I’d suggest waiting a few more minutes because.....]
Watching as the other party was still typing, Xu Qianqian sent a "stop" emoji.
"Got it, no need to say more."
She stood up and, seeing Song Xiyun leaning forward in her seat, snapped her fingers.
"Watch this."
Saying that, Xu Qianqian turned and walked to the restroom at the corner on the second floor, loudly repeating Jiang Nian’s words. Then she quietly backed away and returned to her seat.
Sure enough, within less than a minute, a young couple dressed as high schoolers came out from around the corner and calmly returned to their seats as if nothing had happened.
Xu Qianqian silently gagged in disdain, then turned and nudged Song Xiyun’s arm.
"You can go now, but I’d advise holding it for a few minutes."
"Huh?" Song Xiyun bit her lower lip, looking slightly troubled, "Why?"
Eventually, Xu Qianqian, too shy to explain, said, "Someone just finished using it."
Upon hearing this, despite her discomfort, Song Xiyun held off for three more minutes. With the bubble tea shop’s ventilation fan running continuously, by the time she went in, the smell had dissipated.
Not long after, Jiang Nian came carrying a bag of marinated snacks. In his hand was the fruit tea he and Zhang Ningzhi ordered in the city, half-drunk with half left.
He ordered the cheapest lemon tea for himself at the front desk on the first floor and got some snacks, then paid off the entire bill at Xu Qianqian’s table.
"Alright, here’s your receipt, please keep it safe," the clerk politely said.
"Yes, do you have playing cards?" he asked.
"Yes," the clerk replied, opening a drawer and handing him a new pack.
"Thank you." Jiang Nian took it and went upstairs.
Wandering the second floor, he saw two couples. Not sure which pair had occupied the restroom earlier, but they both looked quite worn out.
Overall, the environment there was relatively quiet. With high sofa backrests and winding passages and partitions, it offered maximum privacy.
Other than being a bit far, it didn’t have many flaws, no wonder wild couples came here for rendezvous.
The speaker in the bubble tea shop was playing Zhou Jielun’s "Peninsula Iron Box," and as the lyrics reached, [placed next to the candy is me], he found the two girls.
Standing by their table, he shook the bag of marinated snacks.
"Qianqian, Xiyun, open up, it’s daddy."
"Get lost!"
