Chapter 115: Chapter 104: Don’t Let Me Catch You

Sun Zhicheng felt like the sky was falling when Chen Yunyun agreed.

No way, sis.

Aren’t you worried about your QQ messages leaking?

Even though you’re single now, what if someone happened to confess to you last night? How can you lend out your phone like that? Especially to let someone else log into QQ!

In an instant, Sun Zhicheng felt like quitting school and wanted to hang himself.

During English morning reading, Jiang Nian was in a good mood.

He glanced at his phone in the morning, and the JK he ordered yesterday showed it was already on its way to Zhennan County. By his calculations, he should receive the package by noon today.

He planned to go back at noon to receive the package.

Third-year classes were exhausting, with endless papers and drills. Sometimes going to the restroom during a break, he returned to find a sea of white papers on his desk.

The thick stacks of papers were like a snowfall on his desk, as if they could crush him.

If you lack energy, it’s best to steer clear of the third year.

Ma Guojun and Li Hua had switched seats. The big guy mysteriously leaned over to Jiang Nian, pulling a few chocolates from his pocket, offering them to Jiang Nian and Zhang Ningzhi.

"These are liquor-filled, give them a try."

"Are they strong?" Jiang Nian accepted, "I only eat strong liquor-filled ones, don’t like the others."

"Just eat them already, stop whining!"

Zhang Ningzhi took one and quietly said,

"Thanks."

"See how polite Zhang Ningzhi is, while you’re being picky even after eating," Ma Guojun pointed at Jiang Nian, "Ungrateful thing, can’t even say thank you."

Jiang Nian looked unconcerned as he unwrapped one and tossed it into his mouth.

"Then let me touch those abs, big baby."

"Get lost, you damn perv!" Ma Guojun was about to say more when he noticed an empty seat in the front, "Why isn’t Wu Jungu here?"

"Probably took leave." Jiang Nian wasn’t too concerned.

"Probably messed up from his relationship, can’t even come to morning reading," Ma Guojun critiqued, adjusting his black-framed glasses, "If you ask me, he might as well break up."

Jiang Nian didn’t respond and continued loudly reciting an English essay template.

He had evolved into the shape of Qingbao. Being non-stick in Class 3, staying away from trouble, wise and self-preserving.

Yay for Qing Party!

Zeng You, who had been reading a novel, turned his head with a grin and said,

"Brother Jun is deeply in love, no way they’re breaking up."

His remarks carried a hint of meaning - the relationship is clearly problematic though they act all lovey-dovey, guys get it. In a relationship, the one with the sense and the one who holds the upper hand.

Yu Zhiyi doesn’t lack backup options; even after a breakup, she can seamlessly move on.

"It’s affecting his grades. Why not break up?" Ma Guojun’s voice was particularly clear in the morning reading, speaking bluntly, "Stay together just to get into a second-tier university?"

Jiang Nian put down his English materials, a bit bitter, and turned to Ma Guojun.

"Bro, I’ll pay you to take that back, okay?"

Based on his current grades, he’d be borderline for non-211/985 universities after the college entrance exam. A little improvement and he’d be safe for a first-tier, a little drop and it’d be second-tier.

"Wasn’t talking about you, getting into a first-tier should be a breeze for you," Ma Guojun commented quickly, "Last week’s mock exam was as easy as pie, he was..."

Zeng You also felt a bit stung, "Ma Ge, stop it, I’m feeling like jumping."

Ma Guojun said, "If you stopped playing on your phone, getting into a first-tier would be easy peasy for you too."

Hearing this, Zeng You’s face showed a bit of pride. But to stay humble, he restrained the smug look and retorted.

"If not playing on the phone, what should I play then?"

Jiang Nian chimed in, "Play with your thing."

"Hahaha!" All three laughed.

Seeing Qianbao coming over from the neighboring class, the three toned down their antics and each focused on their own reading.

On the other side, Sun Zhicheng was anxious the entire morning.

He hesitated for a while, gritted his teeth, then turned and patted Lin Dong on the shoulder. Lin Dong turned to glance at him, a pained expression appeared on his face.

"Ah Cheng, Brother Cheng, Dad! Please stop telling the story of your cousin, you’ve been at it all morning."

"I..." Sun Zhicheng’s words got stuck in his throat.

"Really, no need to repeat it, bro, let me tell it for you." Lin Dong, as if a spell had taken over, tapped his head and said, "Your cousin took your phone to play yesterday, right?"

"Yes, he did." Sun Zhicheng raised his voice.

"Your brother is a real lively little brat," Lin Dong massaged his temples, "But... Cheng, no need to repeat it all morning."

"If it gets too much, take me to your cousin’s class at noon. I’ll put on a mask and teach your cousin a lesson, help you get the phone back, how about that?"

"No need, no need." Sun Zhicheng stammered, "I was just venting, kids these days are too naughty, downright spoiled."

"Yeah, my cousin’s a little rascal too." Lin Dong casually uttered a shocking phrase, causing the group members to turn their heads.

Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe looked at him in astonishment.

"What’s up?"

"Group leader, is that how brothers there address each other affectionately back home?" Wang Yuhe was puzzled and asked curiously.

"No, back in middle school..." Lin Dong switched his story, "My desk mate in middle school had a girlfriend, left his phone with me."

"He helped them break up, cussed a lot, and deleted all contact. Alas, my desk mate later reconnected with his girl, got cursed out, and then dumped."

Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe exchanged glances and then burst into clear laughter.

"Group leader, that’s just too much."

"Yeah, all because of that little rascal." Lin Dong sighed, "But every year when I go home, I pay his classmates to rough him up a bit, to even things out."

Hearing this, Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe laughed even harder.

Sun Zhicheng couldn’t muster a smile; the joy of different people wasn’t mutual. His body gradually got colder, yet from the tension, he started to heat up again.

He had a feeling he might really fall sick this time.

Time crawled by, and with the shrill ringing of the bell, morning reading finally concluded.

Chen Yunyun set her book down and left her seat to head to the podium. She had agreed to log into QQ for Chai Muying after morning reading, as Chai Muying’s phone had been submitted.

With the weather turning cold, she wanted to ask her fellow townsfolk whether she’d need to bring a quilt back. Her QQ was always logged into Chen Yunyun’s phone, reaching out for issues occasionally.

At his seat, Sun Zhicheng watched as Chen Yunyun bent over to grab the phone and charger from the podium, and he felt utterly hopeless.

Darn, the execution line had been reached.

Last night was too impulsive, confessing suddenly. Now he’d completely calmed down, should’ve tested the waters first, otherwise, he’d be the clown if rejected!

He gulped, watching Chen Yunyun power up the phone and walk towards Chai Muying’s seat.

He watched, silently praying in his heart.

"Just a look, please look first. Don’t directly hand it over, I beg you... give me a way out."

Lin Dong heard Sun Zhicheng’s faint mumbling, scooted over with a devilish Anya-like grin, and teasingly asked.

"Ah Cheng, quietly memorizing your mom’s vocab? Still studying words after class?"

Sun Zhicheng didn’t have time for him, his eyes fixed on Chen Yunyun. Seeing her hand over the phone to Chai Muying without a glance, he swallowed hard.

Lin Dong noticed everything, a smirk forming on his face, he nudged closer.

"Whoa, who are you watching so intently?"

"Nobody... " Sun Zhicheng got up from his seat, like a walking corpse, mechanically turning his head, "Brother Dong, do you think I can get down the building without taking the stairs?"

"Haha, how can you get down without stairs, hilarious."

Chen Yunyun was already coming over, seeing Sun Zhicheng looking pale as a ghost, she was startled and concerned,

"Sun Zhicheng, you look really bad, should you take leave to see a doctor?"

"No need, I... " Sun Zhicheng sat back down, his chest heaving, "I’ll be fine in a bit, nothing... I’ve been under the weather these days... my head’s been fuzzy."

"Take care," Chen Yunyun left him with a word of advice and returned to her seat.

The first class of the morning found Sun Zhicheng entirely distracted.

His eyes kept drifting towards Chai Muying, and whenever he saw her chatting and laughing with someone else, he felt like he was being ridiculed, she must’ve spread his confession, right?

After class, Chen Yunyun got her phone back, and Chai Muying whispered something to her.

Oddly though, Chen Yunyun returned to her seat without any noticeable change in expression. Could it be... Chai Muying didn’t snitch? Or was it Chen Yunyun...?

It made no sense at all.

Feeling emotionally unsettled, Sun Zhicheng nearly tripped during PE running. Thankfully, someone quickly reached out to help him, they were quite strong.

"Thanks... " He turned to see Jiang Nian, and stopped short, the rest of his gratitude stuck in his throat.

Nervous the entire morning, noon dismissal finally came.

Sun Zhicheng lay completely exhausted on his seat, cold sweat pouring at noon. A complex and anxious state overwhelmed his heart, his brain felt feverish, on edge.

He vowed never to confess again, pulling such a stunt again and he’d be a fool!

Jiang Nian left school quickly after dismissal, grabbed a shared bike and rode back home.

The midday autumn sun was warm, not too hot nor cold.

He casually rode home, braking with a squeak downstairs. Stopping at a non-designated area, though the app showed the location was correct.

Tried multiple times with no success, the fee surged from a buck fifty to three bucks.

He lost his cool.

"You f***..."

[Beep Beep! Lock successful!]

Jiang Nian: ".... "

Standing in the building’s shadow, he spun around swiftly to head upstairs.

He found the JK skirt among a few packages, opened it to take a look, even tried fitting it around his waist.

"OK, back to school, chasing the quest."

He murmured, "Qianqian, don’t let me catch you."
