Chapter 321: Chapter 321 Brother Da Wei’s Trouble Chapter 321: Chapter 321 Brother Da Wei’s Trouble “You bought a house there?! When did you buy it?!” Mom was anxious, “How much loan did you take out? Is the repayment pressure huge every month? You didn’t even discuss it with me and your dad, we could at least have gotten a bigger one!”
“Wow, impressive Little Hao,” the woman was clearly taken aback now, “How big is the one you bought? Must be about fifty square meters, right?”
“Uh, it’s actually a bit bigger,” Wang Hao got out of the car, scratching his head a bit embarrassedly, “I bought a villa…”
“Vi… villa?!” The woman’s face was a picture of horror as she exclaimed, “Isn’t that worth over ten million now?! You bought a villa?”
“Little Hao, when did you buy it? Why didn’t you say anything?” Mom was all smiles, “I always said my son is capable! Ha-ha!”
“Oh, it was quite cheap when I bought it,” Wang Hao was even more embarrassed, looking at the neighbor, “Wasn’t I just going to see houses with a buddy a while ago? I just took the opportunity to check the Feng Shui for him. He was really happy at the time, and just as a property speculation group showed up, he bought one and gave one to me. I only dared to talk about it after I made enough money these past few days.”
“You dabble in Feng Shui?” Mom was now more amused, “So that means the Feng Shui Master she mentioned just now is…”
Wang Hao: “Seems like it was me… Right, Mom, the housing prices over there really have gone up. I heard my villa is now worth over ten million, I bought it for only six million…”
“You guys keep talking, I’ll go back and cook!” The woman left looking defeated and hurriedly ran off!
“Ha-ha-ha, that’s what you get for showing off, served right!” Mom was triumphant, our Little Hao is still the best!
“Mom, I’m hungry,” Wang Hao scratched his head, “I’ve been at the filming site these last two days and didn’t come back. Heh, what’s delicious for dinner tonight?”
Mom was even happier, “I’ve stewed some kidney beans for you, and I’ll stir-fry some eggs too!”
With that, they went upstairs for dinner.
Oh, after nearly half a month of not coming back, eating Mom’s cooking is simply delicious!
But unexpectedly, just as he was eating, his phone suddenly rang. Picking it up, he was immediately surprised, “Brother Da Wei? Calling me at this time, what’s the situation?”
“Brother Da Wei?” Mom asked while eating, “Ask him if he wants to come eat here tonight if he’s free.”
“Sure,” Though a true relative, a real brother, Wang Hao answered the call with a smile, “Brother Da Wei, what’s up?”
“Little bro, are you free right now?” Brother Da Wei’s voice on the phone was clearly not in high spirits, “I want to have a drink with you.”
Hearing Brother Da Wei’s tone, Wang Hao immediately furrowed his brows, did Brother Da Wei run into trouble?
“I’m free, Brother Da Wei asks to drink with his little bro, I’ve got to be free,” Wang Hao didn’t let on and immediately responded with a laugh, “Tell me, where?”
“Meng Basha Bar,” Brother Da Wei said, “I’m waiting for you at the entrance?”
“Sure!” Wang Hao readily agreed, “I’ll be right there!”
“What’s wrong?” Mom asked, “What’s happened to him?”
“It seems like it,” Wang Hao nodded, “His mood doesn’t seem too good. You keep eating, I’ll go check on him.”
Mom instructed, “Come back early tonight.”
“Got it.”
Descending the stairs and leaving the residential area, Wang Hao hailed a taxi and headed straight for Meng Basha Bar.
Meng Basha Bar could be said to be one of the more upscale bars in Zhonghai City, with an average consumer expenditure of around three hundred, popular with some white-collar crowds.
Wang Hao quickly reached the place, and from afar, he saw Brother Da Wei standing at the entrance, a gloomy expression on his face as he smoked, ignoring the girls who tried to chat him up.
There was definitely something wrong!
“Brother Da Wei!” Wang Hao called out from a distance, “I’m here, shall we go in for a drink?”
“Let’s do it,” replied Brother Da Wei, crushing his cigarette butt underfoot before leading Wang Hao into the bar.
They found a relatively quiet corner, and soon a waiter came over, but the waiter was taken aback when he saw them: “My goodness! Isn’t this the legendary Brother Hao? What kind of wind brought you here?!”
Wang Hao looked at the waiter and was also astonished: “Da Peng! What are you doing here?!”
This waiter was chubby, with a particularly sly smile, none other than Wang Hao’s university dormmate, who had bunked above him for three years, Yue Peng!
“I am just trying to earn some extra money with a part-time job,” said the old classmate with extra warmth. Yue Peng laughed, “Brother Hao is so awesome, your talks on ‘If You Are the One’ were just unbeatable! Ha-ha! I won’t say more, you coming here today is enough for me. Drinks are on me! Just wait, I’ll go get your beer!”
Yue Peng went off to fetch the drinks, and Brother Da Wei asked, “Your classmate?”
Wang Hao nodded, smiling: “Yeah, this guy is a riot. Back in university, we were inseparable, the type who’d split a bun between us–really down-to-earth.”
“Not bad, classmate connections count for something,” said Brother Da Wei, pulling out a cigarette: “Want one?”
Wang Hao hurriedly accepted: “Sure!”
At the bar, Yue Peng said to the boss, who was checking the accounts: “Mr. Jiang, put a case of German dark beer on my tab, and bring a couple of fruit platters too.”
“You’re treating someone?” Mr. Jiang, with a cigarette in his mouth, said disdainfully: “You barely make anything all night and still play the host. What do you think you’re doing — Little Liu, give him a case of German dark beer, and two fruit platters.”
“It’s a university classmate who’s come,” Yue Peng said, cheerfully grabbing the beer and running off: “I am so happy, spending a bit of money is nothing!”
Mr. Jiang snorted and continued with his accounts: “Pah! A rookie comedian enduring so much just to save face, doomed to be broke for life!”
Yue Peng, grinning with delight, arrived at Wang Hao’s table with the beer and fruit platters, saying: “Brother Hao, here. I don’t have much to offer, just a case of beer and a couple of fruit platters for you, don’t laugh.”
“You rascal,” Wang Hao replied with a grin as he accepted the beer, then randomly ordered some snacks: “Speaking of which, you’re doing part-time here and didn’t even call me. I could’ve helped you get a better job or something.”
“Why bother you when I’ve got my own two hands?” Yue Peng said as he dashed off, calling back: “You start drinking, Brother Hao. I’ll come back to chat after I’m done with my work!”
“That bumpkin,” Wang Hao cursed in jest, then turned to Brother Da Wei and asked, “Brother Da Wei, you seem troubled today. What’s happening? Tell me about it.”
“Sigh, don’t even mention it!” Brother Da Wei sighed deeply before chugging half of his beer in one go. Only then did he start to speak, “Didn’t I mention last time that I’ve been busy collecting debts lately?”
“Yeah,” Wang Hao also took a swig and continued, “Ran into some trouble?”
“Yes,” Brother Da Wei nodded, “The client has been withholding payment. At first, it was fine, they’d let me in when I visited, offer a cigarette, a cup of tea, and a settlement date. But after dragging it out for half a year, now they’ve stationed two security guards at the door. As soon as they see me, they kick me out, claiming the boss isn’t in and won’t even let me through the door.”
“Damn, that outrageous?!” Wang Hao was stunned. Which company could be so bold? He asked, “You can’t get the debt back. Haven’t you thought about suing them?”
“Suing? Would that do any good?” Brother Da Wei replied helplessly, “It’s a city project; they’re not to be messed with. Do you know what they said to me? ‘Find someone else to help you, go ahead, call anyone you like, whether from the underworld or otherwise. If I feared you, I wouldn’t be in this business!’ How can I twist the big arm with my small forearm? What can I do?”
“The project’s worth a million, and more than seven hundred thousand is the cost. Now the material and equipment companies are hounding me every day for money–I dare not even turn on my phone because calls would just explode on it!”
“Each month I’m paying over ten thousand in interest alone, and I haven’t even managed to pay the workers yet. The only way I could settle the debts is by selling my house, but if I do, where would your sister-in-law and nephew live? Actually, for me, it would just mean working for nothing for half a year. But I can’t let the dozen or so workers who follow me starve. These bastards!”
Brother Da Wei talked up to this point and then took the beer, drinking the rest of the can in one gulp.
“Damn it, these bastards truly deserve a beating!” Wang Hao couldn’t hold back any longer, “That won’t do, I’ve got to have a serious talk with them myself! Which company is it? I must see this show of theirs, eating from both the underworld and otherwise!”
