Chapter 57: The Ultimate Showdown
Olive then entered the 3RM special room once more, leaving Mark outside.
Lucas was still seated on the sofa, drinking and smoking. When Olive walked in, he looked at her.
"What’s the issue this time?" Lucas asked, his tone serious.
Ignoring his question, Olive approached him and sat down on a sofa in front of him.
"I didn’t tell you to sit down, jerk!" Lucas shouted, his eyes filled with anger.
"Can you please just participate in the debate competition? It’s really important to me. Winning would mean I’ll be leaving this school and going to another one and you won’t get to see my face which you hate anymore," Olive said softly.
"Are you deaf? I clearly stated that I was waiting for this moment to disappoint you at the last minute," Lucas said with a smirk. "Do you think I’m someone who would want to help you?"
"I know you’re like this because of your sist..." Olive began to say before being cut off by Lucas.
"Don’t you dare talk about my sister. You don’t deserve to mention her with the same mouth you used to communicate with the criminal," Lucas declared sternly.
"I’m sorry. I thought I could persuade you again, but it’s clear you’re not willing to help," Olive said as she stood up from the chair, her expression sad as she left the 3RM special room.
"Did he agree?" Mark asked, noticing Olive’s downcast expression as she left the room. "I can tell from your face that he didn’t."
"Yes he didn’t but I’m still going to speak for the motion," Olive said with determination. "Even if I don’t have a partner to speak against it, I’ll still do my part by speaking for it."
"You’re just wasting your time, to be honest. What’s the point of participating if you’re not going to win?" Mark expressed concern with a heavy sigh.
"I put all my effort into preparing for this competition. Even during the vacation and when we’re still in school. Even if I don’t win, I want to showcase my talent to the world," Olive declared with determination in her expression.
"Wow! I’m impressed by your dedication," Mark said, a smile playing on his lips. "I wish you the best of luck. The rugby competition won’t be holding anymore."
" Why?!" Olive asked, her eyes widen open in shock .
"Just decided to cancel it." Mark replied with a smile. "The prize doesn’t matter to us anyway."
Olive have out a heavy sigh, " I’m going to watch Henry’s performance with Desmond and then relax in the dorm for tomorrow’s event," Olive said with a smile, as Mark nodded in agreement before they both went their separate ways.

As the morning unfolded, the sky was painted with saffron and gold, a stunning display that marked the arrival of dawn. The sun rose slowly, casting its warm light across the landscape.
The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, their petals swaying in the breeze. Birds sang in a melodic chorus, their songs dancing on the wind.
The students of Belmont High School lined up to board the school bus for the competition center.
"Arthur, did you convince Lucas?" Mr. James asked Olive as he walked up to her on the line.
"No, sir," Olive replied with a smile.
"Then why are you still in line? You should stay in school and attend classes," Mr. James suggested with a sigh.
"I’m going to join the competition, sir," Olive replied. "Even if Lucas doesn’t want to participate, I still want to do my part," she added with determination.
"Fine, do whatever you want," Mr. James said with a frustrated sigh before walking away, leaving Olive to herself once again.
The fifteen school buses from Belmont were soon filled with students and began driving out of the school compound onto the street.
The convoy of Belmont High School buses wound its way through the streets, eventually arriving at the sleek and modern Competition Complex. As the buses pulled up to the entrance, the students excitedly disembarked, their chatter and laughter filling the air.
With a sense of excitement and anticipation, they passed through the security checks, their bags and belongings scanned and cleared by the efficient staff. Once cleared, they made their way to the main entrance of the competition complex, a spacious atrium with a high ceiling and gleaming marble floors.
As they stepped into the complex, the students were amazed by the vastness and grandeur of the interior. The atrium was surrounded by tiered seating areas, each equipped with comfortable chairs and sleek desks for the participants. The walls were adorned with large screens and digital displays, showcasing vibrant graphics and competition information.
The students were impressed by the high-tech facilities, advanced technology, and professional ambiance of the space. They knew this competition would be unlike any other, and they were eager to give it their best shot.
The interior design of the complex was modern and striking, featuring clean lines, minimalistic decor, and plenty of natural light streaming in through the skylights. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation, creating a buzz of energy in the air.
Olive sat between Henry and Desmond, their attention now focused on the stage where a woman with long black hair, dressed in a red floral gown and matching shoes, stood with a bright expression.
The woman’s voice filled the complex, brimming with enthusiasm and energy."Welcome, students, to the highly anticipated National Competition! I am your host, Mrs. Thompson, and I am thrilled to see so many talented individuals gathered in this incredible space.
"Today, you will demonstrate your skills, your passion, and your commitment to the art of competition. You will motivate, you will convince, and you will leave a lasting impression. Let’s embark on this journey together, with open minds, open hearts, and a readiness to learn from one another. Let the competition commence!"
The audience burst into applause, and the students’ faces beamed with excitement. Olive’s determination was evident, her gaze fixed on the stage. She was prepared to face the challenge, to express her thoughts, and to leave a lasting impression. The competition was about to start, and the energy in the room was electrifying.
