Disguised As A Boy To Attend Belmont High School -
Chapter 169: Is Arthur Really A Girl?
Chapter 169: Is Arthur Really A Girl?
As the auctioneer’s gavel fell, the room erupted into applause. Lucas smiled, seemingly pleased with himself, while Olive and Lara exchanged worried glances.
"What are you doing, man?" Mark whispered urgently, leaning closer to Lucas. "You really have a lot of money to burn, don’t you? And even if you do, couldn’t you spend it on something more important?"
"Are you sure he’s not drunk, though?" Lara asked, her voice tinged with skepticism. "Where’s Mrs. George? She can’t possibly know about this! Didn’t you say the auction was just to bring families together? It’s not like you’re all supposed to be flaunting your wealth. And even if you are, this was supposed to be subtle! This whole meeting is about sealing business deals, not making reckless bids."
"Exactly! Ten million dollars?!" Lara exclaimed, her tone rising with disbelief.
Lucas chuckled softly and shook his head. "Relax, guys. I know what I’m doing. It’s my mother’s choice to put down so much money, but trust me, she’s getting it back twice over. This is all part of her plan."
"Really?" Aiden chimed in, still skeptical as he crossed his arms.
"Yes, really," Lucas replied with a warm smile. "You know how my mom operates. She’s not one to let her money vanish without a solid return."
His confidence seemed to soothe their nerves, and one by one, Olive, Lara, Mark, and Aiden nodded, though the skepticism in their expressions hadn’t entirely faded.
The auction carried on, with people paying exorbitant sums of money for rare treasures. By the time it concluded, it was late in the evening. Some attendees began heading to their various destinations, while others lingered, still enjoying the luxurious gathering.
"Alright, we’re done now. We should head back to school," Olive said with a heavy sigh, rising from her chair.
Before Lucas could respond, Mrs. George emerged from the crowd, her eyes fixed intently on her son.
"Hi, baby," she said, her voice dripping with affection as she pulled Lucas into a warm hug. "I’m so proud of you, darling. Your performance today has earned us an opportunity to secure a business deal worth millions of dollars."
Lucas smiled, his tone light yet respectful. "I’m glad everything worked out, Mother. It’s always about the family’s success, after all." He turned slightly, gesturing toward his friends. "Before I head back to school, I want you to meet Arthur and Lara. They’re friends of the 3RM group."
"Good evening, ma’am," Olive and Lara greeted in unison, each offering a polite nod.
Mrs. George’s gaze flicked to Olive, her eyes narrowing slightly. She didn’t return the greeting but turned her attention back to Lucas. "And what families do these girls belong to? Are they among the guests tonight?"
Olive felt a surge of indignation rising in her chest, but before she could say anything, Lucas spoke up.
"You don’t need to worry about their families, Mom. They aren’t part of tonight’s gathering," Lucas said smoothly, his tone calm but firm.
Mrs. George’s expression turned icy. "I see. Are they the scholarship students I’ve heard about? The ones you’ve been spending time with? If that’s the case, Lucas, I think it’s time we had a little chat."
"Not now, Mom," Lucas replied, his voice steady yet polite. "I have assignments to work on, and I only came here because you said this event was crucial for the George family. Now that the mission is accomplished, I’ll see you later." He ended his statement with a warm smile, diffusing the tension in the air.
Mrs. George studied him for a moment, then gave a small nod. "Oh, I see. Very well, then. You can go ahead. We’ll talk when I visit the school. Until then, take care of yourself, sweetie."
Before Lucas could react, Mrs. George leaned in and planted a kiss on both his cheeks. While Lucas found the gesture slightly embarrassing, he endured it, knowing she didn’t care how many people were watching.
And with that, Mrs. George turned and swept away, leaving Lucas and his friends alone to themselves.
As Mrs. George walked away, Olive and Lara exchanged uneasy glances. The tension had eased, but an unspoken question hung in the air about Lucas’s complicated relationship with his formidable mother.
"Your mom didn’t seem too pleased to meet us," Lara said the moment Mrs. George was out of view.
"Please don’t say that," Lucas replied, shaking his head. "Just ignore her. She’s always like that."
He walked over to Olive, standing beside her with a warm smile. "Let’s get out of here, sweetie," he said, his tone soft as he held her hand.
Olive nodded in agreement, as did Lara, Mark, and Aiden. Together, the group exited the grand hotel, leaving behind the glitz and drama of the evening.

Meanwhile, the party continued in full swing at the hotel, but Mrs. George retired to a private inner room.
The room was a luxurious haven of elegance and comfort. Rich, dark wood paneling adorned the walls, while the floor was covered with a thick, plush carpet that muffled every step. The lighting was soft and golden, provided by ornate table lamps strategically placed around the room. At the center stood a grand queen-sized bed, its satin covers immaculately arranged.
In the dim light, Anabella stood before Mrs. George, her head bowed low, unable to meet the older woman’s piercing gaze.
"You seem to have forgotten why you returned to Belmont," Mrs. George began, her voice a mix of calm menace and authority. "Or why Belmont was turned into a mixed school again. And you seem to have forgotten that you still staying in this school is thanks to me who begged your father. And also your friend, Racheal, she’s going to come back to Belmont because of me."
"I haven’t, ma’am," Anabella replied quickly, swallowing hard as her nerves got the better of her. "But I haven’t found anything suspicious between them."
Mrs. George’s eyes lifted from the file she had been examining, her sharp gaze pinning Anabella in place. "Oh really?" she said, her tone dripping with disbelief. "You were eager to win Lucas over, so eager, in fact, that you tried seducing him. But he didn’t fall for you, did he? And since you couldn’t achieve that, you and your friends got caught up in selling drugs to cover that nude video Louise posted of you. Did you even bother to investigate what I asked you to?"
"I did, ma’am," Anabella replied, her voice trembling slightly. "Lucas and Arthur are close. But he’s also close to Mark and Aiden. I haven’t noticed anything strange between them."
She paused, her brows knitting together as a thought surfaced. "But..." Anabella hesitated, as though weighing her words carefully. "The way Lucas looks at Arthur...it’s different. Are those two...gay?"
Mrs. George’s lips pressed into a thin line. "If I suspected my son was gay, I wouldn’t have asked you to test him. His refusal to give you any attention already speaks volumes or perhaps he’s simply attracted to another girl you haven’t noticed yet."
"Another girl?" Anabella’s voice was tinged with disbelief. "There’s no one else as classy or elegant as me." She attempted a confident tone but faltered. Her expression betrayed doubt. "Unless..." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Unless Arthur’s a girl in disguise."
Mrs. George leaned back in her chair, her fingers steepled thoughtfully. "I don’t know yet," she admitted. "That’s why you need to find out. Lucas once took a bullet for Arthur that much I know. And ever since Arthur arrived, Lucas, Mark, and Aiden, who never used to care for scholarship students, now act as if class doesn’t matter. Lucas even brought Arthur to the 3RM vacation house, something he’d never do for just anyone. Is Arthur really a girl? Could that even be possible?"
Anabella’s eyes widened slightly as memories clicked into place. "Now that you mention it, Arthur does have delicate features for a guy. I overlooked it at first because some guys just look that way. But now..." Her voice trailed off as she pondered the evidence. "It makes sense. Lucas carried him out of school this afternoon, and the way they act around each other, it’s like they’re a couple. Honestly, I don’t believe Arthur’s a guy anymore. Lucas was never gay, and I don’t think he’s starting now."
"If that’s your belief, then I want you to confirm it," Mrs. George ordered, her tone sharp and unyielding. "I’ll be paying Arthur’s parents a visit myself. If it turns out he’s been disguising himself, I’ll make him regret the day he crossed paths with my family."
Anabella’s jaw tightened as she met Mrs. George’s gaze for the first time. "Does Lucas know about him? If he does..." Her voice hardened, laced with venom. "I’ll make Arthur’s life a living hell. Lucas is mine...he’s always been mine. Even if we’re not on the best terms, I won’t let some girl or boy, whatever Arthur is steal him away from me."
Mrs. George nodded approvingly. "Good. Get me the truth, and soon. If anyone dares challenge the George family, they’ll learn exactly what kind of wrath they’ve brought upon themselves."
The tension in the room thickened, the air almost suffocating as the two women exchanged a final, knowing look.
