Disguised As A Boy To Attend Belmont High School
Chapter 148: The Elusive Celebration.

Chapter 148: The Elusive Celebration.

The next day arrived at Belmont, with the golden sun casting its warm glow over the campus. Olive, as usual had taken her bath earlier than everyone else and was already dressed in her school uniform.

Ping!

She quickly rushed to her phone which seems like the hundredth time, thinking it was from Lara, only to be disappointed. It was just a text from her bank, wishing her a happy birthday. Her parents had called very early that morning to wish her well, but Lara, her best friend, hadn’t called at all.

’Did she forget?’ Olive wondered, a grumpy expression on her face. She glanced over at Lucas’s bed, which was still empty.

"And him? Why didn’t he come to the dorm last night?" she muttered to herself, frustration boiling over. She let out a small yell before storming out of her dorm room, mixing with the crowd of students in the school hallway.

When she got to her classroom, she didn’t see Lara, Mark, Lucas, or even Aiden. She knew Aiden was likely in the 3RM special room, but she had no idea where the others were, as she’d already checked their usual spots. Olive had called and messaged all of them, but none had responded.

"Where are they?" she murmured under her breath, her face sour with irritation. She started class alone and ended it alone, with still no sign of her friends.

Finally, during the break, Olive made her way to the library to read, hoping her friends would show up soon.

Meanwhile, Lara and Mark were determined to make Olive and Lucas’s joint birthday celebration unforgettable. They gathered at one of Mark’s rental halls, surrounded by balloons, streamers, and colorful decorations. The tables were piled high with food and drinks.

"Alright," Lara said, glancing at her checklist. "We’ve got the venue, food, and music covered. But we need something special for Lucas to confess."

Mark grinned mischievously. "I’ve got a plan."

Lara raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What kind of plan?"

Mark winked. "You’ll see. Just go get Olive this afternoon."

Lucas arrived shortly after, a wide smile on his face. He had just come from the school florist, carrying a custom bouquet of Olive’s favorite roses, which he had ordered with Lara’s help.

"Oooooh, look who’s here!" Mark teased, chuckling. "The newest boyfriend in town!"

"Come on, she hasn’t accepted me yet," Lucas sighed, holding the bouquet close to his chest.

"Are you nervous?" Lara asked, noticing his fidgeting.

Lucas took a deep breath. "A little. What if she says no? This isn’t the first time she’s turned me down, but I might lose it if she says no again."

Mark clapped him on the back. "She won’t. We’ve got it all under control. Just be yourself." He paused. "Do you have anything else planned for the confession?"

"Actually, yes," Lucas said, pulling a small box from his pocket. Inside was a delicate silver necklace with a small heart-shaped locket.

"Wow, this is gorgeous!" Lara exclaimed. "She’s going to love it."

"I hope so," Lucas said, smiling softly. "It’s not too expensive. She doesn’t like pricey gifts, so I made sure to get something that’s nice but simple."

"How much did it cost?" Mark asked, folding his arms, his expression curious.

"Just five million dollars," Lucas replied casually.

Lara choked on her drink. "Did you just say ’just’ five million dollars?"

Lucas looked concerned. "Is that too much? Do you think she’ll reject it because of the price?"

"She’ll accept it," Mark reassured him, patting his shoulder. "I actually believe it’s cheap but since she doesn’t like expensive stuff, just give it to her when she arrives."

"You believe it’s cheap? Like seriously?" Lara exclaimed, visible shocked by Mark’s words.

"Yeah. I cannot get a gift for my girlfriend less than ten million dollars. I want her to always remember the gift I give her and would be able to keep it for a long time." Mark replied with a warm smile which only made Lara gaze at her golden wristwatch.

"How much do you get this wristwatch for me?" She asked and then gaze at the golden leg chain on her leg" And how much is this necklace?"

"They’re complete set so I got them for thirty million dollars." Mark replied.

"Thirty million dollars?" Lara exclaimed, her eyes widen open in shock. " How could you buy something so expensive."

"You’re my girlfriend." Mark replied."Why do you look so shocked."

"Nothing." Lara uttered as she chuckle to herself, the price of her golden wristwatch , leg chain and Olive’s necklace still echoing in her head. "Anyway, I’m off to get Olive," she said, grabbing her things. "See you guys in a bit."

Mark and Lucas nodded as Lara walked out of the hall and got into Mark’s sleek Maybach parked outside where she quickly pulled off the golden leg chain from her leg, scared that it might get lost. She couldn’t pull off the wristwatch as she knew Mark would question her on that hence she left it.

The black Maybach soon pulled up at Belmont. Lara stepped out, made her way into the school, and searched for Olive. After checking the classroom and Olive’s dorm without any luck, she finally found her in the library, absorbed in a textbook.

"Boo!" Lara exclaimed, sitting down suddenly in front of Olive, startling her.

"You!" Olive yelled, lightly hitting Lara on the shoulder. "Where the hell have you been all morning? I’ve been looking for you, Mark and Lucas everywhere!"

"Sorry!" Lara laughed, unfazed by Olive’s irritation. "Mark and I were on a couple’s date."

"A couple’s date? Couldn’t you two wait until after school?" Olive scolded, her expression angry. "I was worried! You could’ve at least answered my calls or texts."

"I’m sorry, darling. It’s been forever since we had one," Lara said, feigning a sad face. "But anyway, I’ve got a surprise for you."

She remembered my birthday? Olive thought, her expression softening as a smile crept onto her face.

"What surprise?" Olive asked curiously.

"Well... why don’t you come with me and find out?" Lara said, smiling slyly.

"Just tell me what it is," Olive pressed, now fully intrigued.

"No way," Lara replied, her tone serious. "You have to come with me."

Olive sighed. "What are you up to this time?"

"You’ll see. Come on!" Lara said, bouncing up from her seat.

Olive chuckled lightly. "Alright, lead the way."

"Yay!" Lara exclaimed, then quickly covered her mouth when the other students in the library shot her annoyed looks. She hurried out, with Olive following her.

When Olive spotted the Maybach parked outside, she turned to Lara, raising an eyebrow. "The surprise is outside the school? I thought it was nearby."

"Yes, it’s outside school. Come on, before traffic builds up," Lara urged, tugging at Olive’s arm.

Olive pulled her arm free. "I’m not going."

"Why not?" Lara asked, confused.

"I’ve got assignments to finish and topics to study. I’m really busy," Olive said firmly. "Leaving school isn’t on my agenda right now."

"But it’ll only take a little while! I’ll even help you with your work afterward," Lara pleaded, growing frustrated.

"I’m not going, Lara," Olive said, her voice serious. "I’m glad you and Mark had fun, but now I need to get back to studying." She turned and walked back into the school, leaving Lara in stunned silence.
