Chapter 111: How Did He Die?

Henry held his breath, listening intently as Michael approached the bathroom door. He knew he had to remain silent, or else—

Michael tried the door, but soon realized it was locked.

"Rachael, did you lock the bathroom door?" Michael called out.

Henry’s heart skipped a beat as he waited for Rachael’s response. He had managed to lock the door from inside when Michael and Rachael were still arguing, and now he needed her to come up with a convincing excuse to keep Michael away.

"Yeah, I did," Rachael replied, her voice wavering. "I was just... uh... taking a shower before you came back."

"Then where’s the key? I need to open the bathroom. I want to take a shower," Michael pressed, his stern gaze fixed on Rachael. His face soon furrowed with a new realization. "This door is locked with the knob from the inside, not a key, Rachael. Who’s in the bathroom?"

"I’m screwed," Henry muttered under his breath.

"No one, babe. Why would there be anyone in the bathroom?" Rachael’s voice trembled. "Maybe you’re mistaken. That’s why I wanted us to leave the club; I don’t feel good staying here."

Rachael reached for Michael’s hand, but he pulled away and suddenly grabbed her by the neck, pinning her to the wall.

"Don’t you dare lie to me. There’s a man in there, isn’t there? You brought someone in here, and that’s why you want me gone as soon as possible," Michael barked, his voice dripping with venom.

Rachael struggled to speak as Michael’s grip tightened around her neck.

Michael abruptly released her, making her fall to the ground. He then turned toward the door and began slamming his body against it, trying to force it open with all his might.

Henry’s eyes widened in terror as he heard Michael’s violent attempts to break down the door. He knew it was finally over...

"Michael, stop! You’re going to hurt yourself!" Rachael cried out, trying to intervene.

But Michael was beyond reason. His anger and jealousy had consumed him, and he was determined to reach Henry.

The door creaked and groaned under Michael’s assault, and Henry knew it wouldn’t hold much longer. He frantically looked around the bathroom for an escape route, but there was none.

Suddenly, the door burst open, and Michael stormed in, his eyes blazing with fury. Henry tried to hide, but it was too late. Michael spotted him, and his face turned red with rage.

"YOU!" Michael bellowed, pointing at Henry. "You’re the one who’s been screwing my girlfriend!"

Henry attempted to defend himself, but Michael was too strong. He dragged Henry out of the bathroom and pinned him against the wall, his hands tightening around Henry’s throat.

"Michael, stop! You’re going to kill him!" Rachael screamed, trying to pull Michael off.

But Michael was too far gone. He tightened his grip on Henry’s throat, and Henry’s vision began to blur.

Just as all hope seemed lost, Rachael remembered the pepper spray in her purse. She grabbed it and sprayed it directly into Michael’s eyes.

Michael howled in pain, releasing his grip on Henry’s throat. Henry collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.

"Run!" Rachael shouted, grabbing Henry’s arm and trying to pull him to his feet.

But Michael quickly recovered.

"You think I wouldn’t recognize your tactics? You’re always carrying pepper spray, you crazy slut!" Michael roared, seemingly unaffected by the spray since he had shielded his face just in time. His eyes blazed with fury as he charged toward Rachael and Henry. "You think a little pepper spray can stop me? I’ll show you what real pain feels like!"

Rachael tried to defend herself, but Michael’s strength was overwhelming. He grabbed her and slammed her against the wall, his hands tightening around her throat.

Henry, still gasping for air, tried to intervene. "Michael, stop! You’re going to kill her!"

But Michael was beyond reason. He tightened his grip on Rachael’s throat, and her eyes began to bulge.

Summoning the last of his strength, Henry stood up and delivered a punch to Michael’s stomach, forcing him to release Rachael, who fell to the floor, gasping for breath.

Henry and Michael then engaged in a brutal fight, with Michael gaining the upper hand.

"Please, let him go, Michael. Please," Rachael pleaded, tears streaming down her face. "It’s me you want; you can punish me, but leave Henry out of this."

"I’ll fucking kill you too when I’m done with him," Michael spat, continuing to pummel Henry. By now, Henry’s eyes were swollen from the countless punches, and blood dripped from his face.

Henry’s vision blurred as Michael’s punches rained down on him. He tried to defend himself, but Michael’s fury seemed endless. Rachael’s desperate pleas fell on deaf ears as Michael continued his assault.

Suddenly, Henry’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to the floor. Michael began to kick him in the ribs, and Henry cried out in agony.

Rachael’s eyes widened in horror as she watched Henry being beaten. Unable to bear it any longer, she surged forward, tackling Michael to the ground. The two wrestled, with Rachael trying to pin Michael down.

But Michael was too strong. He threw Rachael off, and she landed heavily on the floor. Michael turned his attention back to Henry, who was struggling to get up.

"You’re going to pay for what you did," Michael snarled, raising his foot to deliver another kick.

Just as he was about to strike, Rachael grabbed a nearby lamp and swung it at Michael’s head. The lamp shattered on impact, and Michael stumbled back, momentarily stunned. He touched his head, revealing blood, and then collapsed to the ground, his rage finally extinguished.

Meanwhile, downstairs, the party was still in full swing. Students danced to the blaring music and sipped on their drinks.

Jessica soon returned with a bottle of Hennessy and settled beside Olive. Lucas, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, and Anabella, in a red gown, were also present, displaying affection that only made Olive more upset as she watched them. Peace, dressed in a blue top and black skirt, was also there.

"Hey, sweetie! I’m so sorry I’m late. Had to talk with some people I know," Jessica said, pouring everyone a glass of whiskey. She handed a cup to Olive, who reluctantly accepted it. "Do you want some drugs too?"

"No! I don’t do drugs," Olive replied sharply, waving off the suggestion.

"Oops! But you’ve had some already," Jessica revealed, biting her lip seductively. "But trust me, it’s on me. You’re not going to pay a dime."

"What the heck? You drugged everyone? Why the hell did you do that?" Mark yelled, his voice filled with anger. "Did we make a mistake choosing your club for the welcoming party?"

"It’s just a treat. Relax, guy. I didn’t poison you," Jessica shot back.

"You’re disgusting. Now I see how you afford to attend Belmont. I guess you make a living selling drugs," Anabella chimed in with a look of disgust. "I’m going to sue you and shut down your club if anything happens to me."

"Relax. I didn’t give any to you and your boyfriend. You don’t deserve it," Jessica explained. "I only gave Arthur some because we might have some fun tonight, and then I gave Mark and Lara some since they might be having fun too."

Olive facepalmed in frustration at Jessica’s annoying words. "Seriously? You wanted to hook up with me on the first day? I don’t even know you, or your intentions. This is just... disgusting."

Olive then stood up from her chair. "I’ll find my way back to school and flush the drugs out since I don’t know how much you gave me. You and Lara should come with me to get cleaned up," she said, with Mark and Lara nodding in agreement as they stood up.

Ping!

Olive buzzed and she removed her phone from her pocket only to see a message from Henry:

There’s trouble. Come to the VIP Room upstairs, Room 108...

"What’s wrong with him?" Mark asked, his voice tense as he read the same text Henry had sent to Olive.

"And what’s wrong with Rachael? She asked me to meet her," Peace added, frustration evident in her voice. She had also received a message from Rachael.

Mark, Lara, and Olive exchanged puzzled looks before quickly making their way up the stairs. Lucas, Anabella, Aiden, and Peace followed closely behind. They soon arrived at Room 108.

Olive knocked on the door. It swung open immediately, and they all stepped inside to find Michael’s lifeless body sprawled on the floor.

Lucas shut the door behind him, his eyes wide with shock and confusion. "What happened here?"

"Why is Michael lying on the floor with blood on his head?" Anabella’s voice trembled with fear and confusion.

Olive, Mark, and Lara moved closer to Henry, trying to get him to speak, but he just continued to cry, as did Rachael.

"Can you both just talk and tell us what’s going on?" Peace demanded, her voice edged with frustration as she approached Rachael. "This crying isn’t going to help. We need answers."

"Michael is dead!" Rachael’s voice cracked with anguish, tears streaming down her face. "He’s not breathing. He’s dead, Peace."

"How did he die?" Anabella’s frustration was palpable. "Start answering our questions. The police won’t be easy on us. We’re all in trouble."

"He slipped," Henry said, his voice heavy as he swallowed hard. All eyes turned to him. "Michael and Rachael had a fight, as usual. He slipped and hit his head on the glass table," he added, pointing to the blood-stained table.

Rachael was stunned by Henry’s lie. She had been prepared to take the fall for Michael’s death, but now, with Henry’s version of events, she decided to go along with the story. She realized why Henry had swept up the broken vase earlier—it was to remove evidence.

"We’re not talking to you, asshole! We’re talking to our friend," Anabella snapped, glaring at Henry before turning back to Rachael. "Tell me, Rachael. Is it true? Is it true that he’s dead because he slipped?"

"Yes!" Rachael affirmed, her expression serious. "It’s true."
