Dimension System: SSS Rank Talent Awakening -
Chapter 254 - 254 – War of the Forgotten
The crimson sky loomed ominously above the vast open field as Dabi and his team stood before an endless sea of figures. The scorched, cracked ground stretched out in every direction, punctuated by scattered piles of ancient rubble.
Hundreds of warriors—twisted and broken remnants of those who had ventured into the gate for the past hundred years—stood motionless at first, their eyes blank yet somehow burning with a cold, unyielding malice.
Zen's voice broke the silence, his tone laced with defiant sarcasm. "I hate this place."
Jeni's breath caught as she surveyed the enemy ranks, her ice-daggers trembling in her grasp. "That's… a lot."
Dabi's gaze hardened as he surveyed the battlefield. "They're our next trial," he said quietly, his voice echoing with unwavering resolve. "
A low, unearthly hum began to emanate from the horde. The silence shattered as the enemy figures stirred, their movements slow and measured at first. Then, like a tide surging forward, they began to advance.
The crystalline warriors moved as one, their armor clinking with a chilling, mechanical precision. The ground beneath them seemed to pulse in time with their steps, and the red sky darkened as if mourning the impending carnage.
Without warning, the first wave surged forward. A dozen warriors led the charge, their eyes glowing with a cold, otherworldly light. Zen leaped forward with a battle cry, his dual swords whirling in a blur of silver.
His blades met the first enemy head-on as he slashed with lethal precision. Sparks flew as his steel collided with the crystalline armor, sending shards scattering into the dusty air. Each strike was a testament to his skill, but the enemy was relentless. The warriors absorbed his blows with eerie resilience, their forms never truly breaking.
Kiba roared, summoning a torrent of water from deep within himself. He slammed his fists into the cracked earth, and a massive wave of water burst forth, surging like a liquid wall against the attackers.
The aqueous assault knocked several foes off their feet, but the creatures quickly reformed, their bodies hardening like stone as they pushed back against the onslaught. Kiba's water energy crackled and hissed as it met the dark, crystalline force—a battle of elements as ancient as time.
Jeni moved like a ghost in the fray. She danced between combatants, her form trailing icy tendrils that froze the very air around her. Each time she swung her daggers, razor-sharp shards of ice erupted, targeting the weak spots on the enemy's armor.
But one of the warriors, its body infused with dark power, seemed to adapt to her cold assault. It twisted, its limb transforming mid-strike into jagged icicles that lanced out toward her.
With a fluid movement, Jeni blinked out of harm's way—teleporting a few paces ahead—only to reappear behind another enemy and slice at its exposed head.
The creature's form cracked, and with a resounding shatter, it collapsed into a heap of glittering fragments that melted into the scorched earth.
Althea, ever vigilant, moved through the battlefield as both healer and shield. Her hands glowed with a soft, warm light as she sent pulses of restorative energy to her teammates.
Each time one of them took a heavy blow, she was there to mend the damage, her magic binding flesh and spirit alike. But she was not solely a supporter; when needed, her own fists could deliver crushing blows.
With a swift, controlled motion, she projected a burst of energy that sent a crystalline warrior sprawling backward. "Stay focused!" she called, her voice as resolute as the ancient runes that decorated the temple walls.
Dabi, the Sovereign of Space, moved with an almost otherworldly grace amid the chaos. His eyes burned with determination as he manipulated space itself.
With each calculated strike, he bent reality around him—redirecting enemy blows, distorting the battlefield, and ensuring that every punch he threw found its mark.
When one of the crystalline warriors lunged at him with unnatural speed, Dabi's hand blurred, his form shifting through space like a phantom.
He reappeared behind the assailant, his gauntlet unleashing a concentrated burst of force that shattered the creature's head in a brilliant explosion of dark shards.
The battle waged on in brutal intensity. For every enemy that fell to Zen's swift blades, two more took its place.
Kiba's torrents clashed with the hardened bodies of the warriors, splashing water that evaporated in the oppressive heat.
Jeni's ice sliced through the air, yet the enemy seemed to learn from each assault, their crystalline armor morphing ever so slightly to adapt to her strikes.
Althea's healing magic kept the team in fighting shape, but even she could not stem the tide of relentless aggression.
And Dabi… Dabi was in his element, orchestrating the battle as if he were a conductor leading an orchestra of war.
Time blurred into a haze of clashing metal, crackling energy, and echoing shouts. The battlefield became a maelstrom of movement and fury.
The red sky overhead seemed to bleed along with the struggle below, its hue deepening as if reflecting the despair and determination of those fighting for survival.
At one point, as the horde swarmed around them, Dabi found himself surrounded on all sides.
The crystalline warriors closed in like a tightening noose, their cold, unfeeling eyes fixed on him.
He could feel the pressure mounting, the very air around him growing thick and heavy with hostility.
In that moment, he closed his eyes and reached deep within himself, summoning every ounce of his power as the Sovereign of Space.
A surge of energy exploded from him—a pulse that rippled outward, distorting the space around him in a dazzling display of power.
The enemy staggered, their advance momentarily halted by the force of his will.
Dabi's eyes snapped open, and he bellowed an order: "Now, everyone—attack!"
Seizing the opening, Zen launched into a furious flurry of strikes.
Kiba pulling enemies off their feet and hurling them into the broken remains of ancient stone.
Jeni followed suit, as she unleashed a barrage of ice shards that rained down upon the horde.
Althea's magic surged in tandem, healing wounds and fortifying their defenses as she kept the team united against the overwhelming tide.
For what felt like an eternity, the battlefield became a testament to their will to survive.
Every heartbeat, every breath was a battle cry in the face of insurmountable odds.
The clash of swords, the roar of water, the crackle of ice, and the resonant boom of Dabi's spatial distortions created a symphony of conflict—a relentless reminder that there was no respite in this cursed realm.
Slowly, the tide began to turn. One by one, the crystalline warriors fell to their combined might.
The endless line of foes began to thin, their numbers dwindling as the relentless assault wore them down.
The air cleared slightly, and for a brief moment, the cacophony of battle softened into an eerie quiet.
Dabi surveyed the battlefield, his gaze hard and determined. His team—though battered and weary—stood unbowed amidst the ruins of the fight.
Their eyes met his, and in that silent communion, they knew that this trial was far from over.
Yet, they had proven that even against an endless tide of the forgotten, their spirit could not be extinguished. Teamwork is the key.
"Keep your guard up," Dabi commanded, his voice echoing with authority. "There will be more waves, and I promise you, they'll come."
Zen wiped a trickle of blood from his lip, his grin returning despite the grime and sweat.
"I'll keep slicing, boss. They're nothing compared to the scars we've earned."
What Boss!! Stop messing around Zen. Dabi replied.
Jeni, still catching her breath, nodded. "We adapt, we overcome. We'll learn their patterns and break their formation."
Kiba pounded his fists into his palms. "We fought hard, and we'll fight harder. We're not done yet."
Althea's gentle smile belied the fierce determination in her eyes. "I'll keep us together. Every one of you—stay strong, and we'll make it through."
As the field fell silent once more, the red sky above seemed to pulsate with a dark promise.
In the distance, beyond the broken ranks of fallen foes, a colossal silhouette began to form.
Slowly, it emerged from the haze—a towering figure, clad in ancient armor that shone with a dark, forbidden light. Its presence was overwhelming, a final test of everything they had endured.
"Everyone," Dabi said, his voice a low, resolute command, "prepare yourselves. This is it—the final wave of the forgotten. We break through, or we fall trying."
A tall towering figure comes in front of them. It's most likely the boss/ guardian of this area.
The guardian roared, a sound that shook the very air, and advanced with slow, deliberate steps.
Every movement it made radiated raw power and ancient fury. Dabi felt the weight of destiny on his shoulders.
The stakes had never been higher—not only was this the final test of this area, but clearing this field meant they could finally move one step closer to clearing the dimensional gate and unlocking the next stage of their journey.
