Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion -
Chapter 48: Getting the Wrong Idea
Chapter 48: Getting the Wrong Idea
"Skeleton Revival increased by another 3 levels—now totaling 6 summoning slots.
After copying the spirit equipment sis borrows, if everything goes right, Skeleton Revival will jump another 3 levels, hitting 9 summoning slots total.
This means I need to stock up on enough sublimation materials before diving into new dungeons, especially enough rare spirit equipment."
Carlos was dealing with good problems to have. Under the bonuses from light gold quality spirit equipment he’d strategically copied, his Skeleton Revival level had gotten a massive boost.
Suddenly, a servant’s voice came from outside:
"Young Master Carlos, the master has returned and hopes you’ll go see her."
"Sis is back!"
Carlos felt kind of anxious, wondering if his sister had successfully borrowed it.
Coming to the main hall, he sensed something was off. Iris stood in the hall, looking dead serious.
Just as he was about to ask, Iris suddenly spoke:
"Carlos, I think we siblings need to have a serious talk."
Her expression was extremely serious, full of big sister authority, and she seemed to be holding back some intense emotions.
"Talk?"
Carlos looked confused—talk about what?
Had something happened to the family?
Was there a problem borrowing spirit equipment?
Or did his sister know the Demigod Mark had no warning function?
A million thoughts raced through his mind.
"Sis, did something happen?"
Carlos frowned slightly, quickly trying to remember if there were any major recent events.
"Don’t freak out, Carlos."
Even though she said this, Iris’s expression didn’t soften one bit.
"Sis just wants to understand
Sabina’s assault on you!!!"
Yep, this "major matter" was what Iris wanted to discuss.
She was livid—that old hag Sabina had actually made a move on her brother!
This was crossing a major line.
In Iris’s eyes, her precious brother was still a kid.
While that old hag Sabina—who knew how long she’d been around?
Making moves on a kid like that was just sick!
If not for a guard’s advice that this whole thing should be cleared up first, Iris would’ve already grabbed her greatsword to get payback for her brother.
"Assault? Mina... no, Sabina did that to me?"
Carlos uncertainly started remembering.
"Don’t be scared, Carlos. With me here, that old hag is nothing!"
Iris gave Carlos encouraging eyes while fury was already burning in her heart.
Actually forcing her brother to call her "Mina"—how shameless! Mutton dressed as lamb, still trying to act like a sweet young thing!
"There might have been a little... I think,
she had me sit by her bed... then pulled me to lie down... listened to her humming... then fell asleep..."
Carlos said uncertainly.
"Damn! That old witch actually used such sick methods!"
Seeing Carlos numbly recount all this, Iris’s anger became somewhat out of control, her hands clenched tight as her heart broke!
Her brother went through such crap there, yet she hadn’t caught the problem right away.
As a sister, she’d failed their parents’ final request to take good care of her brother—what a screw-up!
"Uh... this shouldn’t count as sick, probably just messing around?"
Carlos sensed his sister’s reaction was way off.
Puzzled why she looked regretful, furious, and ready to destroy Sabina,
he offered a small defense for that woman.
After all, she’d given him a precious light gold spirit equipment—overall impression was still pretty good.
Who knew this statement would make Iris even angrier, massive Psionic Energy radiating from within, the hall’s air suddenly becoming thick as molasses.
In her view, her dear brother was worried she’d cause trouble for the old witch on his behalf, so he said this.
After all, that old witch’s strength was no joke.
"Sis, you’ve broken through to Controller!!!"
Feeling pressure way beyond what he’d felt before, Carlos was pumped.
Once stepping into Controller (40-49), it meant entering the big leagues.
Plus, she’d become one of Ember City’s leadership, her status completely different now.
"That’s right, Carlos. Sis is now a Controller!
So don’t be scared—I’ll be your rock."
Iris was super confident. After breaking through to Controller, she felt her power was stronger than ever.
"Now I’m gonna go properly teach that old hag a lesson for you!"
Power gave Iris confidence to get revenge on that old hag for her brother. She didn’t want to wait—the fury in her eyes seemed ready to burn everything down.
"Sis, I think you’ve got the wrong idea.
Mina... no, Sabina really was just messing around. She didn’t do anything to me!"
Carlos quickly grabbed Iris back, clearing up the situation.
Not because he was worried about Sabina’s safety, but mainly worried about Iris.
Despite Iris becoming a Controller, she very likely wasn’t Sabina’s match right now.
From how Iris addressed Sabina, you could tell she’d been around for an extremely long time.
Carlos knew more detailed intel—that woman wasn’t simple. Just her surface strength was peak Controller level, with even scarier power hidden underneath.
Iris, having just broken through, very likely wasn’t her match.
"Carlos, you’re not lying to me?"
Carlos said firmly:
"No, sis. She really didn’t do anything to me.
We just had normal interactions—she’s one of my friends.
If you don’t believe me, use magic methods to check."
Carlos silently added in his heart that from any angle, he hadn’t taken any losses, let alone gotten hurt.
"Come here, let me get a good look at you."
Don’t even say—Carlos had only meant to express he absolutely wasn’t lying.
But Iris, fearing her "innocent" brother had been tricked by that old hag, actually started checking with magic methods...
After checking, everything was intact, especially no traces of Psionic Energy mixing.
This result left Iris blown away!
Facing her brother with such "innocence," "perfect looks," "excellent body," and "tempting aura," a woman had actually held back!
That night, was it really just an "ordinary" night that couldn’t be more ordinary?
Worse than animals, or what?
"Did I really wrongly accuse that old witch... Sabina?
She’s a ’good woman’?"
Iris muttered, her attitude toward Sabina subtly shifting.
Seeing Iris believed him, Carlos felt a bit relieved. To further calm his sister’s heart:
"Sis, don’t worry. I’ll protect myself!"
"You..."
Looking at Carlos’s face that made it impossible to look away, Iris secretly decided to be even more careful about Carlos’s safety in the future.
Seeing Iris still looked worried, Carlos continued:
"Sabina is actually pretty cool. She even gave me a precious light gold spirit equipment with no strings attached."
As he spoke, Carlos showed Iris the necklace.
