Chapter 151: Chapter 149: It’s Love

Chapter 149 Is It Love

It’s love that makes everything look different. Love has made me see things in a different way - "Léon: The Professional"

Gao Chuan’s waist injury has only been unwrapped from the bandage since last weekend, and the wound has nearly healed to this day, when the two of them got home from work together, it was already approaching night.

February is nearing its end, and the signs of harsh winter are visibly retreating slowly, the girl sitting in the passenger seat looking out the window listlessly, the breeze penetrating through the cracks of the window, brushing her tender cheeks.

Streetlights are on, the clouds and glow dissipate, revealing a sliver of a crescent moon.

She can hardly believe that this winter is passing so quickly; she is suddenly filled with emotion.

Turning her head to look at Gao Chuan, who’s driving seriously, the dim light outlines the man’s exquisite and charming profile, angular, with faint shadows cast in the corners, and his hands on the steering wheel, distinct in their knuckles.

Everything is as beautiful as a wonderful dream.

A dream she never wants to wake up from.

Finally getting a break after completing her work, Jiang An comes home and is not as busy as the previous days, she cuts a fruit plate and pulls the man who has just taken a bath to sit on the couch and watch TV with her.

The two have been married for some time now, but because of various work reasons, they seem to never have had the chance to sit on the couch and watch a movie together undisturbed, like ordinary couples, until now; Jiang An suddenly gets an idea, puts the fruit plate on the coffee table, and picks out one of her favorite films.

"Léon: The Professional"

Gao Chuan, who rarely watches movies, sits down with Jiang An, watching her as she even makes a point to turn off the lights in the living room, creating a quite formal atmosphere.

He’s unclear if this is how one should act when in love, but whatever Jiang An wants, he tries his best to accompany her.

Even though it’s a movie they are very familiar with, Jiang An can’t help crying over the scenes as she watches it again, the dark room is lit only by the feeble light from the TV screen, barely illuminating their fair faces.

Seeing the touching moment, Jiang An lays on the man’s shoulder, sobbing quietly.

The familiar part of the movie plays, the male lead delivers that classic line from the film.

He says, "It’s love that makes everything different."

Gao Chuan, who usually isn’t too moved by such romantic scenes, shows no significant change in expression throughout the movie, but it’s apparent that he senses the girl beside him constantly reaching for tissues to wipe away her tears and mucus.

It seems she’s always been like this, easily touched.

Moved by the stories of others, touched by the pain of others.

In the darkness, the man silently pulls the girl into his embrace, feeling the up and down sobs from her shoulders, for a moment uncertain what to do to comfort her.

The final scene of the movie is fixed on Killer Leon bravely facing death for the female lead, as the girl buries the plant in the center of the park.

Just as he wished, love takes root there.

The movie has come to a complete end, and beneath the dim light, Jiang An leans on the man’s chest, secretly wiping away tears, seemingly immersed in the storyline, she lifts her head slightly to meet the man’s gaze, witnessing his luminescent face in the darkness, and with a crying voice, she says, "Dr. Gao, will we never be apart?"

How I wish time could stop at this moment, with only each other in our eyes, so quiet that we can hear each other’s heartbeats.

Gao Chuan listened to the girl’s somewhat hoarse voice, his eyes slightly startled.

It was as if something had struck right at his heart.

In the silence, the man’s throat moved invisibly, yet he was unable to utter a sound for a while.

After a long while, he sealed his lips, gently pressing them against the girl’s soft cherry lips.

The moment their bodies touched, they felt the scorching warmth from each other. Jiang An leaned into the man’s embrace, passionately kissed by him as he cradled her chin.

At this moment, it seemed any language would be superfluous.

The film’s end credits song played on the TV, and among the soothing music, their silhouettes overlapped on the sofa. Jiang An was gently laid down on the soft sofa by the man; her round cheeks reflected in his obsidian-like eyes.

Their lingering gazes intermingled, perceiving each other’s feelings amidst the dim light.

After a moment of stillness, the fervent kiss unsurprisingly swept toward her, threatening to engulf her like a flood, with the man’s hand firmly supporting the back of the girl’s head.

Along the tender, moist lips, the girl, kissed deeply, blushed completely, her hands gently resting on the man’s firm chest, sensing Gao Chuan’s forceful heartbeat.

Who ignited the spark this time was uncertain, as the man’s warm hand slowly ventured beneath her disheveled clothes until she suddenly felt a coolness and Jiang An came back to her senses, shyly blocking the lips that sought hers again, pleading softly, "Let’s go to the bedroom."

The man’s movements halted abruptly, then a low voice came from his throat, "Okay."

All through the night, passionate and confused, perhaps due to the long lack of intimacy because of work, the man didn’t want to let her go until the end, nibbling and biting as if he wished to swallow Jiang An whole. As usual, she did not refuse, only complaining in a voice both angry and embarrassed.

Her soft murmurs brushed past the man’s ears, as tender as a kitten’s paw scratching.

Afterward, both of them were drenched, perhaps because the evening’s movie tugged at their heartstrings, Jiang An, unusually, did not pass out, even though it was nearing midnight, still without the slightest hint of sleepiness.

Gao Chuan first let go of the girl to have a cigarette alone on the balcony. Once the heat had dissipated from him, he stepped back into the bedroom and was surprised to find Jiang An still lying on the bed, eyes wide open — something unusual, as Jiang An would typically be so exhausted as to pass out.

Is this sort of thing really something that requires practice?

The man, without a word as usual, gently picked her up to clean up in the bathroom. Upon entering, he directly placed Jiang An into the bathtub.

Jiang An sat down unexpectedly, only then to discover with surprise that the tub had already been filled with water by the man, the temperature just right, the misty steam filling the room with a refreshing fragrance.

The girl’s snow-white body stretched out in the tub, her eyes widen in astonishment as she noticed the man starting to take off his sleepwear, stepping in without allowing Jiang An any refusal, and wrapping his arms around her.

The burning breath came from behind; under the man’s gentle touch, Jiang An’s whole body tensed up.

Suddenly, she recalled the big bathtub strewn with rose petals during their honeymoon at the hotel, and a shameful image suddenly flooded her mind.

While daydreaming, she felt the man’s restless hand beneath the water, and Jiang An let out an "Ah" in shock.
