Chapter 108: Chapter 107 Match You My Ass

Chapter 107 A Perfect Match? That’s Ridiculous

After being inspired by Dr. Gao, Jiang An managed to adjust her mood and returned to the hospital with a smile to work the next day. Dr. Li, hearing about her rescue of a patient that night, even took some spare time to find her and have a heart-to-heart talk.

Ultimately, everyone didn’t want to extinguish the spark in a young doctor’s heart and hoped that Jiang An could grow rapidly through this experience.

After all, facing life and death is something a doctor will inevitably encounter sooner or later.

In the morning, Jiang An was busy organizing medical records and deeply focused on her work until Ren Lin came over and invited her to lunch, only then did she realize it was already midday.

Without much thought, Jiang An followed Ren Lin to the cafeteria. While they were eating, Ren Lin, probably worried about her still being in low spirits, told a few jokes which made Jiang An cover her mouth and laugh.

The girl’s light brown eyebrows lifted slightly, and her lips curled up revealing a pair of shallow dimples on her cheeks.

Most of the jokes were pretty old and popular a few years ago, but for some reason, they seemed extremely funny when Ren Lin told them.

Seeing Jiang An finally smiling, Ren Lin breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze landed on her smiling eyes and he found himself smiling too.

He suddenly realized that he liked seeing Jiang An smile.

Not only was it beautiful, but there was an indescribable purity to it.

Over the past month of internship, being with Jiang An had somehow eased his inner tension, and working together felt very relaxed.

Jiang An was still giggling, fiddling with the rice on her plate with her chopsticks, when Ren Lin, sitting opposite, suddenly stood up, leaned over, and touched her cheek.

Jiang An was startled by Ren Lin’s sudden move, instinctively stepping back, her face filled with surprise as she saw Ren Lin’s hand awkwardly suspended mid-air, a grain of rice stuck to his thumb. Realizing her recoil, he sheepishly said, "There’s a grain of rice here..."

The joyful atmosphere vanished. Jiang An touched her cheek and a hint of unease flashed in her eyes as she quietly said, "Thank you."

Ren Lin withdrew his hand, shifting his gaze away and trying to appear calm, muttering, "It’s nothing."

Behind them, not far off, Gao Chuan and Dr. Bai came together for lunch. The man sitting had a view that perfectly captured Jiang An and Ren Lin; the scene of Ren Lin touching Jiang An’s face had not escaped his notice, his brows furrowed deeply, a stern glint emerging in his deep eyes.

Perhaps staring too long, Dr. Bai across him noticed his distraction and turned to see Jiang An and Ren Lin sitting together eating and chuckling.

"You know, it’s funny you mention it, but those two disciples under Old Li do look quite good together." Dr. Bai squinted mischievously while biting into a piece of beef on his plate.

The joke-like comment entered Gao Chuan’s ears, his eyes flickered with a cold sharpness as he shifted his gaze and resumed eating.

Just as he bowed his head, he heard Dr. Bai nonchalantly add, "Maybe one day I’ll talk to Old Li, get him to play matchmaker, who knows, maybe it could really..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Gao Chuan coldly interrupted, "I have surgery this afternoon, I need to go."

Dr. Bai looked up to see Gao Chuan leaving after barely eating a few bites, feeling puzzled. Watching Gao Chuan’s departing figure, he muttered to himself about Gao Chuan wasting food.

Leaving the cafeteria, Gao Chuan headed straight back to his office. Sitting down, the man felt a headache coming on, his brows tightly knitted together.

He stood up again, went outside to smoke a cigarette, and only then did the heaviness in his chest begin to dissipate. He was still thinking about the scene he had witnessed in the cafeteria and Dr. Bai’s remark, "They do match well."

The man’s eyes darkened, his forefinger flicked off the cigarette butt, allowing the milky smoke to slowly clear away.

Match well? Match your darn woolen ball.

Meanwhile, due to the offensive actions Ren Lin had taken earlier, neither of them spoke again. Jiang An quickly ate a few bites and then found an excuse to leave first, regret filling Ren Lin as he watched her hastily leave.

It was completely an impulsive action, he hadn’t expected it to become so awkward.

Later, back in the office, Jiang An no longer spoke to Ren Lin; she was busy with her own work, probably not even aware that Ren Lin glanced at her several times throughout the afternoon.

When it was finally time to leave work, Jiang An stood up to pack her things. Ren Lin took the opportunity to approach her and called her name, "Jiang An," but before he could say more, Jiang An’s phone ringing interrupted him.

Jiang An, seeing the name Ji Wanwan on her phone, sidestepped Ren Lin and pressed the answer button. The call connected with blaring music immediately, and Ji Wanwan shouted, "Jiang An, come and join the fun!"

Hearing Ji Wanwan’s voice, Jiang An guessed she had been drinking and asked, "Sister-in-law, what’s going on? Where are you?"

Ji Wanwan, sounding dizzy, responded with an address and kept repeating for her to come over and join the fun.

Worried about Ji Wanwan, Jiang An hung up and quickly told Ren Lin that she had an emergency and hurried downstairs. Considering Ji Wanwan might not want to encounter Gao Chuan, she chose to take a taxi alone to the location Ji Wanwan had mentioned.

It was already nightfall, right during rush hour, so it took Jiang An an hour to reach the destination Ji Wanwan specified.

A waiter led her to the private room mentioned by Ji Wanwan, and as she opened the door, she saw Ji Wanwan, alone on the sofa, singing loudly, the intense volume nearly bursting her eardrums.

She was singing the quirky song "Little Apple," "You are my little apple, loving you more is never too much."

The worst part was that her pitch was all over the place...

Seeing Ji Wanwan passionately singing, Jiang An almost felt a surge of blood rush to her throat. She couldn’t connect the elegant goddess on the screen with the messy-haired, wildly off-key singing woman in front of her.

As Ji Wanwan was singing, she glanced up and saw Jiang An standing at the door. She quickly sprang up from the sofa, ran over, and wrapped her arms around Jiang An’s shoulders. The intense smell of alcohol wafted over as the woman drunkenly pulled her close, joyously saying, "Jiang An, you’re here, come on, let’s party!"

As she spoke, she didn’t stop pulling Jiang An’s hands, waving them up and down. Jiang An, looking at the wildly silly woman, asked, "Sister-in-law, what happened? Tell me what’s going on."
