Devoted Love:The Billionaire's Precious Wife -
Chapter 351
Chapter 351: Chapter 351
Carl, who was driving, couldn’t help but ask as he glanced at the rearview mirror, "Mr. Romeo, do we drop Rosemary off at school first, or?"
Romeo said, "Home first."
Rosemary countered, "School first."
They both spoke at the same time, then looked at each other.
"We’re not sure about the identities and motives of those people yet. If you go to school, you might endanger the other students," Romeo said seriously. "Stay with me. I’ll keep you safe."
Rosemary thought, ’Huh? Who was protecting whom just now?’
"Have our people found any information?" Romeo glanced at Carl, who was in the driver’s seat.
Carl replied, "Nothing yet, but since they’re already in our hands, even if they’re mutes, they’ll have to spill the beans."
"I’ve already found something," Rosemary said. Her slender fingers quickly worked on a bounty website, and she soon found the IP address of the person who posted the bounty. "The bounty was posted at 11 p.m. last night on Deer Mountain, with a reward of five million."
She didn’t expect her virtual identity to be worth this much.
Carl’s eyes widened, and he glanced at the rearview mirror in disbelief. ’Ms. Rose figured it out this fast?? How long had it been? Less than a minute, right?’
Romeo looked at Rosemary, surprised by her growing skills.
"Deer Mountain is on the outskirts of Summerfield. It’s steep and vertically 90 degrees, so there’s no place for people to set foot on. That’s why nobody goes there. There’s no surveillance. There are three roads nearby where cars pass by. A total of eleven cars passed by Deer Mountain after 11 p.m. I tracked the routes of these eleven cars and found that they all seemed normal and did not try to avoid surveillance."
Rosemary pointed at the screen, zooming in on the surveillance footage. "But look here, out of these eleven cars, a Mercedes appeared after a truck and a Toyota from another direction passed under a bridge."
In other words, a Mercedes suddenly appeared after the truck and the Toyota passed under the bridge. ’Where did this Mercedes come from?’
"So, you suspect that the Mercedes came from the truck? There’s something fishy about the truck and this Mercedes?" Romeo asked Rosemary.
"Exactly," Rosemary replied. She checked the truck’s subsequent route and found out that it drove into a car scrapyard and then suddenly exploded.
She also checked where the Mercedes went next and found out that it disappeared starting from the bridge. ’Where did the people in the car go??’
Rosemary continued her search, and Romeo couldn’t help but smile as he looked at her serious profile. She was so beautiful.
"The truck driver is dead. He left a suicide note saying he was in debt and didn’t want to live anymore, so he set himself on fire. There was no one else in the truck," Rosemary shared what she found. "The driver of the Mercedes was drunk. He crashed into a barrier and fell into a lake. By the time he was pulled out the next day, the car was beyond repair, and he was unfortunately dead. But..."
"But what?" Romeo asked.
"The way the Mercedes was driven didn’t seem like it was driven by a drunk person," Rosemary said, falling into thought. After a while, she suddenly realized she was missing something and immediately started searching on her phone.
"Did you find a new lead?" Romeo inquired.
"Yeah, we overlooked the Toyota. If I’m not mistaken, both the truck and the Mercedes were a smokescreen created by the real culprit to confuse us and lead us away from the real issue. The focus should be on the Toyota. If I’m not wrong, the person who posted the bounty is in that Toyota!"
Rosemary pulled up the surveillance footage of that Toyota car, saw it linger in a deserted factory for a bit, and then zoomed out. After a while, a Porsche rolled out of the same deserted factory.
She guessed whoever was in the Toyota might have switched to the Porsche.
After some sleuthing, Rosemary found the Porsche parked somewhere. The place was called "Eternal Summer Villa."
Romeo’s expression turned serious. "That’s the Winters family’s villa."
"So, the person who wanted to harm Rosemary was from the Winters family?" Carl, who was driving, was shocked into silence. He didn’t expect that Ms. Rose would find out the puppet master in less than ten minutes.
But how could a member of the Winters family be the puppet master? The Winters and McMillian families were on good terms, and they knew Ms. Rose was Romeo’s fiancée. They wouldn’t dare harm Ms. Rose even if they had the guts.
Rosemary continued her investigation and found that last night, Enid Winters did come home late at night, and Noreen was with her.
Now the evidence was solid. Rosemary looked at Romeo and asked, "What do we do now?"
After all, the Winters family once saved Romeo’s father. If it wasn’t for their timely discovery, Romeo’s father might have drowned in the pool long ago. There wouldn’t be a wife and son later, and there wouldn’t be Romeo. It could be said that this favor was beyond words.
Romeo’s gaze became complex, and he stayed silent for a while before saying, "Let’s drop it."
"Okay," Rosemary replied. Since he wanted to drop it, she wouldn’t do anything further to them.
Romeo then added, "There’s no way we’re dropping it." ’Dared to lay a finger on his sweetheart?’
"You handle this, and I’ll take care of the aftermath," Romeo said gently.
"Alright," Rosemary agreed. She packaged the evidence and sent it to the police station. Soon, police cars were blaring their sirens in the streets, heading directly to the Winters family to make arrests.
When the parents of the Winters family heard their daughter was suspected of murder, they couldn’t believe it. They watched in shock as Enid was taken away. They panicked and quickly called Mr. Winters for help.
Upon hearing that this had something to do with Rosemary and not having Rosemary’s number, Mr. Winters could only call Romeo. Romeo deliberately ignored him, forcing him to find Phillip in person. As soon as he entered the room, Mr. Winters was frantic and almost choking.
"Phillip, could Rosemary have misunderstood something? How could Noreen and Enid possibly murder her? They couldn’t even bear to step on a bug when they were kids, and there’s no way this was their doing."
Mr. Winters was truly desperate. He disregarded his dignity and clutched Phillip’s hand, pleading, "Please call Rosemary and tell her to release them. Noreen and Enid can’t stand this kind of suffering! Wasn’t this destroying the relationship between our two families?"
Even though Phillip had not been fond of the Winters family since the last incident with the game of Go, when he heard that someone had hired a hitman, he couldn’t help but ask, "What on earth was going on?"
Mr. Winters told Phillip the whole story, but Phillip was indifferent. He withdrew his hand and said, "There’s no way Rose could be wrong. If she said your granddaughters, Noreen and Enid, hired someone to commit murder, then that meant they must have done something unspeakable!"
