Chapter 395: Chapter 395 Will you be my forever?

"Eat slowly," he said softly, reaching forward to steady her plate when it nearly slid. "You didn’t even know you were hungry, hmm?"

Lilith only made a small "hmph" in her throat, pretending to be annoyed but her lips curved into the smallest real smile.

Gray cut a neat piece of cake for her next, the silver fork tapping against the plate. He placed it carefully on her side of the table, nudging it closer with his fingertips.

"Try this," he said, voice gentle. "You’ll like it."

Lilith leaned in, biting into the soft cake. A faint sweetness spread on her tongue, and she closed her eyes for half a second — just enough for him to catch that rare, unguarded expression on her face. When she opened them, she found Gray staring at her, not at her eyes but lower.

"What?" she asked, blinking. But she caught the tiny flicker in his eyes and felt a spot of warmth at the corner of her mouth.

Before she could reach for a napkin, Gray leaned forward–elbows on the table, face so close she could see the tiny flecks of gold in his dark eyes. He paused just long enough for her breath to catch.

Then, with one careful finger, he brushed the little smear of cream from the corner of her lip. Lilith stilled, her lashes fluttering once and before she could say anything, Gray brought that same finger to his own lips and sucked the sweetness away, his eyes never leaving hers.

The tips of his ears turned faintly red, but the teasing glint in his eyes stayed — warm, possessive, so stupidly devoted that Lilith had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep her expression steady.

"Messy," he murmured, his voice low, almost a growl against the hush of the waterfall and the soft glow of the lights. "But only for me."

And Lilith, her cheeks warmed by the wine and the closeness, only tilted her head and narrowed her eyes at him, her lips curling into that sharp, dangerous smile he adored so much.

"Troublesome man," she whispered.

After the soft warmth of the meal under the silk canopy, Gray took her hand and gently led her toward the small wooden cabin nearby. Lilith let him guide her — her heels tapping lightly on the wooden floor as they stepped inside.

She paused for a moment at the doorway. The whole place was softly glowing — strings of tiny fairy lights draped across the ceiling beams, delicate candles flickering in glass jars on every windowsill. The air smelled faintly of roses and fresh bamboo, mixing with the distant hush of the waterfall.

Gray didn’t say a word. He just held her hand a little tighter, leading her up the narrow staircase. She could feel the warmth of his palm, how he paused every few steps to make sure she didn’t trip in her heels.

At the top, he pushed open the small balcony door. A cool breeze drifted in, carrying the soft scent of the forest and the faint echo of rushing water. The view was breathtaking — the tall stalks of bamboo swaying gently under the moonlight, the waterfall shimmering like silver silk under the stars.

Lilith stepped forward, her eyes glowing a little in the dark as she leaned on the railing, letting the breeze brush against her hair. She looked almost unreal, her blue eyes reflecting the stars, her lips still curved in that half-smile she wore when she was trying not to show how moved she really was.

Gray watched her for a moment — the way she seemed to belong in the night more than anyone he’d ever met. Then he cleared his throat softly, and she glanced back at him, one eyebrow arched.

"I have a telescope," he said all of a sudden, the words tumbling out like he’d been waiting to say them all night.

Lilith tilted her head, amused. "A telescope?"

Gray rubbed the back of his neck, his lips twitching with a nervous smile. "Yeah. Thought... you’d like to see the stars. Close up."

She chuckled, a soft sound that made his chest tighten. "You brought me all the way here... for a telescope?"

"Not just for that." He stepped closer, his fingers brushing her wrist. He pulled her gently toward the large telescope standing near the balcony edge — polished metal, looking almost out of place in the rustic cabin but perfect under the silver sky.

"Look through it," he said, his voice low, warm but shaking just a bit.

Lilith sighed but leaned forward anyway, one eye pressed to the scope. The stars burst into focus — closer, brighter, more real than she’d ever seen. A soft sound slipped from her lips, the tiniest "Oh..." that made Gray’s heart beat faster.

But just as she was about to pull back, she froze.

Because inside the telescope carefully fixed in the center where only she could see was a tiny, hand-written line etched on a delicate brass plate:

"Will you be my forever?"

Lilith blinked, her lips parting. She pulled back slowly, her lashes trembling as she turned to look at him.

Gray was already kneeling, one knee on the wooden balcony floor, his hand reaching into his pocket. The moonlight glinted off the small velvet box he held open for her– inside, a ring that shimmered like it had been dipped in starlight.

His dark eyes shone with that same helpless, hopeless devotion she’d seen in every version of him

"I know I’m... difficult," he said softly, his voice catching. "I know I’m a mess but you’re my only constant. My one."

Lilith just stared at him — the man on his knee in a hidden forest cabin, the waterfall whispering behind him, the stars spread out above like they’d been waiting for this moment, too.

She didn’t smile, not at first. But her eyes – those dangerous, piercing blue eyes, they softened in the way only he could ever see.

She leaned forward, her hand brushing his hair back from his forehead, her thumb tracing the edge of his ear.
