Devil Gambit
Chapter 58 : The Oni King’s Feast

Chapter 58: Chapter 58 : The Oni King’s Feast

He could win this.

They were strong — no doubt about it.

But Dirga?

Dirga was forged through fire, forged through trials. After everything he’d endured... this was just another battle.

He exhaled, fists tightening.

First move — his.

He thrust one palm forward. Gravity Surge.

A concentrated pull detonated between Oru’Zek and Snaggra, trying to drag them inward like they were stuck in a collapsing star.

But they were already moving — fast.

Too fast.

The pressure zone missed them — but not the mount.

CRACK.

The massive saber-toothed beast crumpled under its own bones, torn to meat paste by gravitational force.

"Ho?" Oru’Zek tilted his horned head. His molten-gold eyes narrowed. "Your skill... interesting."

Snaggra growled and unslung his greatsword with a heavy clang. His boots dug into the earth as he charged.

Dirga met him head-on.

Their blades collided — twin swords of Crimson Core against brute steel. Sparks. Echo. Echo.

But Dirga didn’t cling to the clash — he released the swords mid-block, letting telekinesis take over.

And then —

BOOM.

His fist met Snaggra’s armored chest — enhanced with gravity compression. The air around Dirga’s hand bent with invisible weight.

Snaggra was hurled backward like a wrecking ball just hit him — tumbling a few meters, skidding through the dirt with a grunt.

Dirga didn’t even flinch.

Not a scratch. Not a sting.

"Snaggra," Oru’Zek said, stepping forward, shield raised, voice low and commanding. "Stop. He’s strong. We go together."

Snaggra rose, blade trembling with pressure. He nodded once.

Then both lunged.

Fast.

Faster than most would ever track.

But Dirga had seen speed. He’d danced with Eidomos. This was manageable.

CLANG.

Oru’Zek’s heavy cleave.

CLANG.

Snaggra’s sweeping arc.

Dirga parried with his floating twin blades — his telekinesis weaving them around like guardian spirits. Each strike blocked was followed by a counter — his fists, wrapped in surging gravity, hammering at exposed ribs and helmet visors.

Punch — toward Oru’Zek’s shield arm.

Punch — elbowed into Snaggra’s side.

Shockwaves rippled.

The ground cracked beneath them.

They tried to make space — instinct pulling them apart.

Dirga wouldn’t let them.

He yanked his hand sharply. Gravity Lock.

Both enemies reeled as if caught in a rip current — dragged backward toward Dirga’s gravitational center.

"Don’t run," Dirga snarled.

He flicked his fingers.

WHOOSH—

The twin blades soared toward Snaggra, spinning like crimson comets.

Meanwhile, Dirga blitzed toward Oru’Zek.

Their blades clashed. Oru’Zek was strong — stronger than Snaggra — but Dirga had momentum. He ducked low, sliding beneath a cleave, then spun up inside Oru’Zek’s guard.

His knuckles lit with gravitic force.

BANG—!

He punched directly into Oru’Zek’s massive shield.

CRACK—

CRACK—!

The shield shattered.

Oru’Zek flew backward, crashing into a tree trunk with a boom that echoed through the forest like thunder across bone.

Snaggra, seeing his commander fall, faltered — just a beat. But in battle?

A heartbeat was enough.

Dirga’s eyes narrowed. His pulse was steady. His breathing calm.

He didn’t feel like prey anymore.

He was the gravity at the center of this war.

And both of them were about to fall.

Snaggra’s hesitation cost him.

Dirga darted forward — twin blades in motion.

Slash. Slash.

Sparks flew. Snaggra grunted as the Crimson Core carved shallow gashes into his thick armor. The blows didn’t penetrate, but they cracked the shell.

Snaggra staggered.

"Ha... haha..." Oru’Zek rose from the tree trunk, laughing like a beast tasting blood. "Strong. This is the first time I’ve seen someone like you."

And then — he roared.

It wasn’t just sound. It was a shockwave. A dominance roar — like a predator declaring its territory.

His body responded.

Oru’Zek’s black hair turned snow-white, glowing faintly in the dim moonlight. His crimson skin shimmered. His eyes — once gold — now burned a blazing red, veins of dark energy webbing across his face.

Beside him, Snaggra groaned — his own eyes flaring a deep blue. Aura burst from his body like a second skin, the ground beneath him cracking from the pressure.

"Let’s finish this," Oru’Zek said, stepping forward.

"Yes, boss," Snaggra growled.

Round two.

They moved in sync. Fast. Heavy. Coordinated.

Dirga parried their strikes — twin swords intercepting brutal swings. But this time, their weapons hit harder. Their movements were sharper. Faster. Stronger.

Even his gravity manipulation began to strain. They were resisting the pull — breaking through it.

Dirga grit his teeth.

He needed to isolate.

Snaggra first.

Weaker. Wounded. Kill him. Then face Oru’Zek one-on-one.

That was the plan.

He turned his defense into a dance — redirecting Oru’Zek’s swings, deflecting with minimal movement. Let the brute waste strength while Dirga focused his attacks on Snaggra.

Strike after strike.

His fists became battering rams of condensed gravity.

Snaggra’s armor cracked further — each punch and blade strike chipping more of it away.

Until finally—

CRACKKKK—!

One final punch shattered the chest plate completely. Snaggra stumbled back, exposed.

Dirga didn’t hesitate.

He recalled one sword to his hand and slashed horizontally.

BLURT—!

Black blood sprayed from Snaggra’s chest.

He gasped, falling to one knee — staggering back, barely holding his sword.

Oru’Zek’s eyes widened.

Dirga turned and slammed a gravity-boosted fist toward him — but this time, the oni blocked it with his remaining gauntlet.

The punch landed, but Oru’Zek didn’t budge.

He took a step back — but he didn’t fall.

Dirga’s heart pounded.

Oru’Zek turned to Snaggra.

"You still standing?"

Snaggra coughed blood, eyes dimming. "I can still fight... but our future’s bleak. This kid... he’s too strong. We can’t win."

Then, he looked up.

"I offer myself. Eat me, boss."

Dirga froze.

What?

Snaggra looked serene. "You always protected us. Use my strength. Evolve. Kill him."

Oru’Zek didn’t hesitate.

He stepped forward.

CRUNCH—!

He grabbed Snaggra’s head and ripped it off — clean. Blood sprayed.

GULP.

He drank.

He devoured.

And then — the sky screamed.

A storm of red and black aura erupted around him. Like a cyclone of wrath made manifest.

Dirga stumbled backward, boots sliding in the dirt, shielding his face as debris and wind tore through the clearing.

"What the hell is this—?!" he yelled.

Then silence.

Oru’Zek stood in the center of the storm.

Transformed.

Three jagged horns now crowned his head.

His white hair whipped around his face like a battle flag.

His skin still glowed crimson — but now it was armored in muscle, etched with black runes glowing faintly beneath the skin.

A black vertical line now split both eyes, like a tear in reality.

He was bigger. Denser. Deadlier.

The armor he once wore was now rubble on the ground — it couldn’t contain what he had become.

He walked toward the weapons on the ground.

Picked up Snaggra’s massive greatsword in one hand.

Picked up his own two-handed blade in the other.

One in each hand. Effortless.

"Sorry," Oru’Zek said, smiling like a devil.

"Let’s start again."
