Descendants of Gibbous -
Chapter 62: Guide
Chapter 62: Guide
It all happened so quickly at the speed of light.
Damien and the fairy suddenly vanished from Ahara’s sight, zinging straight into Gibforge’s stadium the next moment in a flash. The boy didn’t even have time to blink. It was as if he’d been snapped into another dimension and everything else had moved but him. Immediately after they appeared in the stadium, a student dressed in Fangpeak’s red uniform made her way towards them.
Damien immediately recognized her silvery hair cut into a bob and that quick gait that made her look like she was gliding.
"Alicia?"
"Damien Amaris?" The girl beamed as she approached him. "Oh my goodness it’s you! I was wondering what snobby first year I’d get this year, who knew it’d be you of all people? Can you believe my luck?"
"Yeah, it’s me," Damien’s face heated up for no reason. He could understand her excitement, after all, he too was happy to meet someone he knew on his first day at the academy.
"Well, this’ll be easy then. I’ll be your guide throughout the entire process for tonight so follow me closely okay? Even if you don’t, I can sniff you out if you suddenly disappear from me," she pointed at her nose, grinning.
’Right. She’s a werewolf."
"Yes, ma’am," the boy nodded at Alicia, making her laugh to herself.
"Come on, we don’t want to sit in the back after you came this early bow do we? Not to mention the saucy feast that’s been prepared by the fairies today—it only happens once a year you know. The rest of it we have to take turns cooking by ourselves," Alicia rambled on and on, rolling her eyes as if searching for the words to speak inside her head.
"Wait, what about my luggage?" Damien cut her long unending speech.
At his question, Alicia paused and arched a brow. "Boy, what luggage?"
Damien looked down at his luggage but couldn’t find it. Neither was the cage there nor was Silky flying around and flapping his wings to show he had escaped from it.
"I swear, they were here a few minutes ago..."
A snort came from Alicia and Damien paused, squinting his eyes at her. She was laughing a little too suspiciously for his liking.
"Did you do something to my stuff?" Damien asked, getting more suspicious when Alicia suddenly burst into fits of laughter.
The boy could only watch as she laughed at him all whilst the familiar sound of new students zinging into the stadium with their fairies filled his ears. Then they’d get attended to by a student wearing the same uniform as them—soon to be dorm mate—who were lining the stadium’s walls and waiting to receive the newbies.
"What do I do with my luggage?" A girl’s voice filled Damien’s ears from nearby.
"Don’t worry, the fairy took them to your room," her guide replied.
"I already have a room?!" The girls asked again. Damien couldn’t help but feel like her voice was very familiar, so he turned around to look at her, ignoring the still-laughing Alicia before him.
"Where else would you sleep if you didn’t have one?" Her guide, a sarcastic boy in Fangpeak’s uniform with round glasses asked.
"In yours," the girl replied, smirking at the large guy before her whose face went red after her rather uncalled for reply.
Damien could recognize that smirk even if his eyes were half closed—and it still served its purpose well. The guy who had tried being a smart mouth with Eden had now covered half his face and was looking away.
"Still the same old blabber mouth I see," Damien mumbled to himself before waving at her when she glanced around the stadium in his direction.
"Oh, Damien!"
The princess immediately ditched her guide for the boy, rushing toward him like a cannonball before lunging at him with her hands outstretched. She managed to hug his neck just in time before squeezing it lightly.
"Man, you’ve got no idea how happy I am to see a familiar face. I was getting nervous being around that beefy hot nerd," she cried in a rather loud voice.
Damien glanced at Eden’s guide and wasn’t surprised to see him blushing again.
"Isn’t he cute?" Eden whispered into Damien’s ear.
’So her loud voice was intentionally then,’ Damien noted, already feeling sorry for the poor guy.
From his experience with Eden, she never let go of her targets once she secured them. He was one of them and had experienced enough surprise hugs and smart mouth remarks in just a month to know she never joked around with her targets.
Pulling away from her, Damien wasn’t surprised when she intertwined her fingers with his. She was touchy—too touchy for her own good actually. Alicia finally stopped laughing but her eyes were now set on the duo’s hands. Damien could already hear the questions before she asked.
"Are you two—"
"No!" They both replied in unison.
"He might be my soulmate, but he’s not that kind."
"As it should be!" Came another loud familiar voice from behind them. Yong Kim appeared between Damien and Eden, separating their hands the next moment before standing between the two.
"What are you doing?" Eden asked him in a low icy voice.
"Taking back my friend," the prince replied, intertwining his hands with Eden’s the next moment, ignoring Damien’s presence altogether.
Damien didn’t know why but it made him mad for some reason. Before he could stop himself, he tapped Yong’s shoulder, making the boy turn to face him.
"Oh hey there Damien. Didn’t notice you—ouch!"
Eden swatted his hand away forcefully, her eyes burning with rage as she walked around the two boys to Damien’s other side before intertwining her hands with Damien’s like before.
"Don’t get too comfortable with me. I only said that to make you focus since it seemed you were going to cower away—as usual," she forced the words through gritted teeth.
The sight of her clenched jaw was enough to tell Damien everything he needed such that when Yong tried to walk to Eden’s side, the boy blocked his way and glared at the prince.
"Didn’t you hear what she said? Don’t get too comfortable traitor. You still have to get punished by us before you can start talking so nonchalantly around us."
"Stay out of this Damien," Yong hissed with just as much wrath, but Damien wouldn’t yield.
The two boys gave each other deadly stares in the stadium’s middle, a rather amusing sight to their fellow freshmen who made their way to the exits with their guides in a fashionable classy manner.
"That’s it!" Alicia clapped her hands loudly, drawing everyone’s attention. "Everyone back to your guides, I won’t be missing dinner because of three shitty brats in a love triangle."
"It’s not a love triangle!" Damien and Eden hissed at her.
"Nobody cares idiots!" Beefy nerd finally joined the chat, his blush long gone now. "This is the only time we get to each the fairies cooking in the year and we can’t have you shitting on that. Now either you follow us to the hall or we’re dragging your asses there."
