Behind him, a shrine maiden in a white and red kimono bowed.

"Shall I prepare for travel, Master?"

He nodded.

His gaze lingered on the orb a moment longer, eyes filled with reverence. "The old prophecies stir. The Kami will awaken if he continues down this path," he whispered.

In a citadel hidden beneath a sandstorm and shielded by hieroglyphic enchantments, ancient scholars rewound the footage on holographic tablets. Whispered chants filled the air.

"This is it," an archivist whispered. "The union of spirit and beast, foretold by the Scrolls of Al-Mutasim."

Warlord Abbas, adorned in obsidian-scaled armor, turned to his elite desert-runners.

"Find him. Trade. Threaten. Beg. Whatever it takes." He raised a clenched fist. "If we fail to act, another nation will bind his power to their cause before the sun rises again."

Drums echoed as tribal elders and awakened shamans sat in a stone circle.

"The ancestors whisper," said one, eyes rolled back. "This boy... this Kaiden... he walks the line between spirit and beast."

A lion-masked woman stepped forward. "Should we summon him?"

"No," said the eldest. "He will come... or he will not. But when he does, we must be ready."

She nodded.

"His DNA," said one. "Acquire it."

"His monster companion," whispered another. "Would fetch trillions."

They tapped their glasses. "Send in the collectors."

In many homes - all accross the globe

TV screens flickered as the Global Awakened News logo blazed into existence with dramatic music rising in the background. The header read:

BREAKING: HISTORIC TAME EVENT IN D-RANK DUNGEON – F-RANK AWAKENED SHOCKS THE WORLD

The view cut to an elegant news desk. Sitting behind it was a pretty reporter with blonde curls, flawless makeup, and a pristine navy-blue blazer with a golden Global Awakened News insignia pinned to her chest. Despite her professional demeanor, a faint blush was already forming on her cheeks.

"Good evening," she began with a smooth and practiced voice. "I’m Melanie Cross, and we interrupt all programming to bring you an unprecedented development in the awakened world."

A replay appeared in the top right of the screen, showing Kaiden and his group fighting Bastet.

"At approximately 6:43 AM UTC-5, inside a D-ranked dungeon in the United States, a confrontation between an F-rank awakened individual and a boss-class monster was captured in full and uploaded publicly to the Awakened Platform."

She paused for a brief moment before resuming. "While defeating a boss monster is a great feat, what followed after has never occurred in recorded history, despite the many attempts that have been made."

A new feed rolled, displaying Kaiden leaping with his raised axe alongside Luna’s storm magic buzzing right next to him, [Stormblade] in hand. The action was epic and cleanly cut, with dramatic narration by Melanie.

"Despite his low rank, the awakened individual known as Kaiden Grey coordinated an assault with his three female teammates of Valhalla’s Sinners and with the members of the low-tier guild they were doing mercenary work for called Nova Circuit, culminating in a critical blow to the boss monster, officially known by the name ’Bastet the Sun-Kissed Pharaoh.’"

Melanie nodded toward the camera.

"Experts are still analyzing the combat footage. But that is not the reason this video has sparked an international frenzy."

The feed changed. Onscreen, Bastet staggered, falling to her knees. Kaiden approached. Melanie looked down at her notes, then cleared her throat.

"Following the battle... u-uh... Kaiden Grey proceeded to—um—initiate a... non-hostile subjugation technique."

The screen behind her awkwardly cut to a static "Global Awakened News – Content Restricted" logo.

Melanie blinked twice, flustered. "Ahem. The footage—due to broadcasting guidelines—has been partially censored. However... We can confirm that Kaiden used a, er... unique ’taming’ method previously thought to be nothing more than perverted men living out their sadistic fantasies."

A cough came from off-camera.

"Bastet, the boss monster... changed form shortly after this... encounter. Into what appears to be a more humanoid... variant of her monster form with a few catlike traits."

A silhouette of Bastet’s new form appeared on the screen, with a note that read "Censored for National Broadcast" in the corner.

Melanie shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

"Further footage shows... displays of emotional bonding. Um. Close physical proximity. Extended... k-kissing."

She pressed forward, cheeks now visibly pink. "As of now, Kaiden Grey has become the first recorded awakened to successfully tame a monster—boss-class or otherwise—through what we dubbed as a ’Companionship Contract.’"

She was referencing the promises Kaiden made to Bastet, such as showering him in his affection every day if she were to accept him as her master, which she did after some encouragement.

"Global authorities are scrambling to determine the implications of this act. Government councils, guild coalitions, and major factions have already begun reacting. We are expecting an official statement from the United Awakened Association within the hour."

She glanced off-camera. A voice in her earpiece mumbled something.

Melanie winced. "Ah—yes. Additionally, the original video was titled, quote, ’Taming a Sexy Boss Monster’—and, um, remains the top trending video globally."

Melanie quickly waved, trying to push her embarrassment away physically.

"W-We’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available. For now, this is Melanie Cross with Global Awakened News, signing off with the hope that all future dungeon explorations remain... professional."

She looked into the camera, visibly mortified but holding composure like a champ. It was evident in her wry eyes that she knew many would attempt to replicate Kaiden’s methodology in hopes of successful monster taming.

Naturally, Global Awakened News wasn’t the only news station to cover this topic. But they were the biggest news channel in the world, translated into all languages. Them featuring Kaiden and even mentioning that there was a video under the handle Valhalla’s Sinners had great consequences.

CNN ran a special: "Monster Love or Magical Threat?"

All that is to say... Kaiden Grey and Valhalla’s Sinners were no longer an obscure little group of hopeful rookies.
