Chapter 784: Chapter 624: Nine-tailed Fox_2
And this change was still advancing inward; the two men had no hesitation and could only bite the bullet and sprint in the direction of the Giant Dragon.
Now it seemed that the dragon must be in a prolonged recovery period, and it likely wouldn’t suddenly awaken until its injuries had healed to a certain extent.
Under the conflict of the two powers, the closer they were to the Silver Dragon, the safer it was.
“Pay close attention to the injuries on this dragon.”
The Sword Master Funiu spoke as they raced forward.
“Those are no ordinary flesh wounds. The most crucial parts of her have been severely damaged. If she cannot be completely healed, this situation could very well persist.”
Recalling some of the recent events at Qinglu Mountain, the Sword Master Funiu quickly realized something.
“The dragon’s injuries are probably almost fully healed.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not now,” Roger consoled.
Though time was short, the Elder of Shadows was a master of blood control. If it wasn’t for the fear that too much force would awaken the dragon, Roger would have liked to absorb enough energy all at once.
Having a portion of its energy extracted, Roger believed that even if the dragon was on the verge of a complete recovery, the lack of that part of energy would mean that, at least for now, it was not possible for her to awaken prematurely.
Not a sound came from behind, but upon glancing back, he saw that buildings were still being erased rapidly.
Finally, after a long chase, the two arrived under the majestic hall at the base of the Giant Dragon.
Looking out from the palace, the entire hall was enveloped by a potent bloodline energy, preventing the strange energy from intruding further.
A balance had been formed.
“Could it be that I’ve absorbed too much?” Roger thought.
Given the areas formed before, even if the recovery failed, it shouldn’t lead to a collapse all at once. Analyzing the situation with his own condition in mind, Roger believed that the variable likely occurred due to him.
“What now?”
Above their heads, in the majestic palace’s sky, the Giant Dragon lay deep in slumber; the path they came by had long vanished, and this place didn’t look like it had any exit.
“Let’s go inside and take a look.”
Roger replied.
Under the suppression of the bloodline power, Sword Master Funiu was barely adapting. He took a deep breath and, grasping his weapon tightly, took the lead in front of Roger.
The expansive space, the towering dome above–it made Roger mistakenly think he had returned to the West.
Passing through a corridor that wasn’t too long, the two entered a circular hall, surrounded by statues of various forms.
Roger didn’t usually care for such decorative things, but a casual glance revealed that these so-called decorations were actually Guardian Spirits of various forms.
“Tima Vulture, Firebird, Mystic Turtle…”
Besides there being no duplicates, many red chains were entwined around these Guardian Spirits.
“What principle does this represent?”
Roger was puzzled. In Everworld, the rise in power of both Onmyoji and Samurai could not be separated from Guardian Spirits.
One could say that Guardian Spirits were the foundation upon which all of Everworld operated.
“What’s this, control or exploitation?”
As Roger pondered, the Sword Master Funiu who was walking in front abruptly stopped. Lifting his gaze, Roger saw a White Fox come into view.
Unlike the other Guardian Spirits, this White Fox was not a decoration; its orange-red eyes moved, fixating on the two of them.
“A fox?”
Confusion flickered across Roger’s face, but the Sword Master Funiu, standing before him, appeared solemn.
“Be careful, this is not an ordinary…”
“Swoosh!”
A flash of white light, and Roger’s eyes only caught a blur. Refocusing, the White Fox that was tens of meters away had vanished, while at that moment, Sword Master Funiu had slightly turned his body.
A streak of blood appeared on his neck. Roger turned around, and there sat the beautiful White Fox behind them, its small head raised with a touch of indifference in its eyes.
“Such speed!” Roger couldn’t help but exclaim.
“And such sharp claws,” Sword Master Funiu casually added.
With the physical condition of Sword Master Funiu, such a blood streak would normally heal in an instant, but at that moment, it seemed like there was a force near the wound tearing and suppressing his body’s healing ability.
“What is this creature?”
“A Nine-tailed Fox,” the Sword Master Funiu answered.
The next moment, the Nine-tailed Fox suddenly propped itself up on its limbs, and a strange symbol appeared between its eyes.
“Nine Tails?”
Roger couldn’t help but look at the White Fox’s rear.
There, only one snow-white, satin-like tail was present, and whether due to Roger’s gaze or by coincidence, the slender limbs of the Nine-tailed Fox sprang from the ground.
The entire motion was elegant and smooth, with the muscle exertion and the springing motion clearly visible, but after that, the creature’s speed entered a strange phase.
All that could be seen with the naked eye was a blur of afterimages, and with a strong sense of alarm rising in his heart, Roger knew that he was the target of this creature.
Almost subconsciously, he unleashed the Alder Sword Seal.
Blades of light enveloped the whole space, and at the moment of intrusion, Roger didn’t even need his eyes to track the movement trajectory of the Nine-tailed Fox.
Not only that, but the piercing boom of an explosion sounded, and a wild force attacked from all directions. The killing power of this force was not strong, but the interference prevented any high-speed moving object from maintaining its previous trajectory.
“Attack now!” Roger commanded with a cold shout.
Although Sword Master Funiu didn’t understand what had happened, seeing Roger capable of limiting the Nine-tailed Fox’s speed, he naturally wouldn’t miss the opportunity to attack.
The huge sword in his hand was thrown, not at the Nine-tailed Fox who was hindered by Roger, but at the nearby ground.
Crack!
The sharp blade of the sword easily pierced into the bluestone floor, and the next moment, violent power erupted!
Meanwhile, the Nine-tailed Fox had already adapted to the negative effects brought by the Alder Sword Seal, but before it could escape the space influenced by the sword seal, the force unleashed by Sword Master Funiu interrupted its action.
Without seeing Sword Master Funiu take a step, his burly body seemed to merge with the earth, and the next moment he appeared beside the Nine-tailed Fox.
The broad giant sword returned to his hand, while his beast claw hovered above his head.
Simultaneously, Roger unleashed all of the accumulated energy of the Alder Sword Seal.
The situation drastically changed, and the two of them switched from being on the defensive to taking the offensive.
But just then, a fierce emotion flashed in the eyes of the Nine-tailed Fox, and its slender body suddenly swelled in mid-air.
Its body grew in size, nearly as large as an average horse, and what’s more peculiar, behind it, nine fluffy, snow-white tails spread open like a peacock’s tail.
Pure white and fluffy, the body of the Nine-tailed Fox spun like a top.
The next moment, one of its tails underwent a change, its elongated body, sharp claws, and eyes with the fleeting strange pattern all transformed.
The Nine-tailed Fox was still the same Nine-tailed Fox, its strength had not changed, but the properties of its energy had completely altered.
Elusive and intangible.
The next moment, the attacks from Roger and his ally landed on its body.
As if passing through another dimension, their attacks simultaneously missed their mark, and at the same time, the phantom of the Nine-tailed Fox dispersed, then returned to the place where it had first appeared.
“What power is this?” Roger exclaimed in surprise.
“The legends are real, I always believed the Nine-tailed Fox was a figment of people’s imagination and fabrications,” Sword Master Funiu quickly explained.
“Some think that it isn’t purely a living creature, but something born alongside the world itself. The Nine-tailed Fox, purely white, only shows one tail under non-combat conditions.”
“But once it enters battle, all nine tails behind it appear at once, each tail corresponding to a specific power, adding up to ten special abilities with its main body included.”
“These ten powers can’t exist at the same time, but flexibly applying each during combat means anyone fighting it will be completely countered by these abilities.”
“This is going to be difficult,” said Sword Master Funiu, his expression grave, “If I defend with all my might, given the two abilities it has shown just now, it’s unlikely to break through my defenses in a short period.”
“If I include you in my defensive range as well…”
“No need, you don’t have to be distracted protecting me,” Roger rejected, but as he was about to release the Quinn Sword Seal, a familiar voice echoed from the depths of his heart.
“Such beautiful fur, my master, is this the fox fur coat you’ve prepared for me?”
“Uma?”
A hint of surprise flashed in Roger’s eyes; recently she had been continuously assimilating and absorbing the power that belonged to the Mountain Woman.
“Help me control it, if possible, it might become your new body,” he said.
“A fox?!” Uma was full of reluctance, but soon she changed her mind.
“Man and beast, I like it.”
