Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 778 - Chapter 778: Chapter 621: Dragon_2
Chapter 778: Chapter 621: Dragon_2
The benefits to be gained were unimaginable.
“Is this what our ancestors have been fighting against?” the Sword Master Funiu spoke up, remaining calm in the face of temptation.
According to this line of thought, it was very likely that the dragon that once passed through here was still alive.
At that moment, Roger pointed in a certain direction.
“That’s the direction it came from.”
“From the remnants left above, one can tell that this dragon shattered the space with a ferocious state. Its Scale Armor rubbed against the broken space, and blood was everywhere.”
“Was it escaping?”
Roger considered a possibility.
He could almost imagine the dire scene, like a person running and struggling through a thorny thicket, bleeding profusely and covered in wounds.
What was chasing the dragon? Was it another, more powerful dragon, or something else?
Roger instantly thought of the figure that killed the Elder of Shadows.
“Let’s go, to where it came from.”
Roger nodded. Although they could see no immediate danger, both of them heightened their alertness.
The passageway was filled with Bloodline Power. The Sword Master Funiu walked in front, holding a giant sword with a beast’s claw looming over his head.
Under the influence of the Hunter’s Cabin, Roger’s power was not suppressed. Along the way, he even had the opportunity to collect some Dragon Scales stuck in the cracks of the passageway.
A part of the power within the Dragon Scales had dissipated, but the remaining power was still startling.
The only thing he found somewhat regrettable was the blood remnants around the passageway.
Not knowing how much time had passed, the blood had dried up and it seemed that the energy within it could not be extracted.
Although the Elder of Shadows was a master at manipulating blood, he had already lost consciousness. If it weren’t for the Sword Master Funiu at his side, Roger really wanted to Summon him and give it a try.
Even if the remaining energy was thin, the quantity was astonishing.
The further they went, the more alarmed the two became.
Occasionally, some forks appeared in their path. From the surrounding marks, they could surmise that these branches were formed by the dragon’s collisions.
“Could it be that the passage our ancestors used to come here from the west was actually just a branch of this road we’re on now?”
The Sword Master Funiu proposed a conjecture.
If this hypothesis was valid, it meant that this dragon had come to Everworld earlier than the Atlas Clansmen.
“Are there any legends about dragons here?”
Roger asked.
“They are all just rumors. However, there’s one…”
“In Everworld, the most powerful Superior Leaders include the Nine-tailed Fox and the Shuten-doji, among others. As for dragons, only the Yin Dragon is considered one, but there are very few legends about it, and no one has seen its form.”
“Simply because of its dragon’s name, some people elevate it to a being higher than the Superior Leaders.”
“There are also records that claim someone once saw the so-called Yin Dragon and was then granted power, becoming one of the top powerhouses of the time.”
“But this could just be a legend. In Everworld, Divine Masters and Sword Masters are the limits of power; surely there is no higher-tier existence.”
However, soon after seeing the blood around them, the Sword Master Funiu closed his mouth, “Judging from the power in the bloodline, this dragon is from the west just like us. But the more powerful the force, the harder it is to hide under the world’s rules.”
“If it’s not dead, then where is it hiding?”
The speaker was unintentional, but the listener was intentional.
Combining what the Mountain Woman had once said, Roger knew that when power reached a certain level, those extraordinarily powerful beings could hide themselves in places beyond the world’s scrutiny.
The World Fragments they could integrate and completely control.
A dragon, a creature more powerful than everyone, would surely not remain idle even when hiding in the dark.
So did the workings of Everworld bear traces of its manipulation?
Roger instantly thought of many things, and he needed more evidence to corroborate them.
The higher his power rose, the more Roger felt that the Hunter’s Cabin would reveal its true form once his power grew to a certain level.
And he would surely be able to discover the truth of his own identity.
If that world wasn’t just a game, then what was it?
And his memories from the past, were they real, or just another secret hidden beneath the Mist?
His body now came from the Shadow World, but what about the more important soul?
In an instant, Roger thought of many things.
The information received from the Mountain Woman had opened up a new world for him, and discovering traces of a dragon’s existence here let Roger know that Everworld was not just as he had seen it.
On the way forward, some branches they encountered were briefly inspected; those places had not formed real spatial passages, some had become fragmented, surrounded by spatial distortions.
Some were chaotic spatial torrents.
Along this path, it seemed that only the branches where the Atlas Clansmen existed were intact.
Soon, the Funiu Sword Master, who was ahead, stopped.
Roger looked intently.
It was a mutilated corpse, and beyond it, space began to destabilize, a casual glance revealed the number of corpses rising sharply.
These corpses were caught in the cracks of space, some were preserved due to the closure of these crevices, while others maintained their appearance from life thanks to the nourishment of bloodline power surrounding them.
The distinctive facial features and those faint traces of bloodline power.
“They are my clansmen.”
“They must have been thrown out of the spatial passages during transmission.”
It was evident.
Roger turned to glance at the Funiu Sword Master.
“This dragon arrived before your people did,”
“and the passages to the west and Sunrise were destroyed by it. Your ancestors entered by chance, then emerged near Qinglu Mountain due to the compression of space.”
“Truly lucky.”
Along the way, Roger saw countless large and small branches; even one wrong step would’ve caused all of the Atlas Clansmen to be utterly lost in the chaos of space.
Yet they had chosen the one correct path out of the numerous possibilities.
“It’s not luck,” the Funiu Sword Master pointed ahead.
“As a bloodline considered an enemy by the Dragonborn, the Atlas Great Bear must have been incredibly powerful at its peak, but after arriving here, we were left with only a thin bloodline and combat strength.”
“Those strong ones likely died on the way here, and it was because of them that we could safely reach Qinglu Mountain.”
The two continued forward, the space around them becoming more chaotic, and just as the Funiu Sword Master had surmised, the number of corpses increased, and the remnants of their power grew stronger.
“We can only go this far.”
It seemed that one more step forward would take them somewhere else, but like a bridge that had suddenly broken on the journey ahead, the destination was close yet unreachable.
“It was that dragon; it destroyed most of the passages, and you all destroyed what remained after passing through,” Roger said.
Having pieced together the chain of events, what remained was the other end of the passage.
The endpoint would point to where the dragon had gone.
And there, likely lay the reason for the changes at Qinglu Mountain.
While Roger and the Funiu Sword Master were uncovering the secrets of the dragon and striving to preserve the Atlas bloodline heritage, on Qinglu Mountain, there were those who wished to put an end to all the vices on the mountain.
The Funiu Sword Master had entered Different Space, and although the disciples of the Funiu Sword Pavilion were unaware, the other three Peak Masters became nervous.
The entire Sword Pavilion was lax on the outside but tense within, with the three of them gathered to maintain the normal functioning of the Pavilion.
It was for this reason that Miyanori Chiyoko, preoccupied with her duties, overlooked certain things.
She overlooked certain people.
Red Sparrow descended from the attic, and as she appeared, some Low-Tier disciples of the Sword Pavilion saluted her; ordinary people were unaware of the events that had transpired between Yuan Guanghai and Red Sparrow.
In their eyes, Red Sparrow was still an exalted, powerful, young, and beautiful Fourth Tier Cultivator.
Having left Qinglu Mountain, Red Sparrow arrived at the town below the mountain where she placed Talismans in the four corners of a room. Soon, the entire room was enveloped, and along with Red Sparrow, was pulled underground.
Confirming that the Onmyoji Array was activated, Red Sparrow spoke up, “I am Red Sparrow of the Funiu Sword Pavilion; I have an urgent matter that requires the Konoha Tengu.”
“Konoha?”
“He’s dead.”
A voice came from the other side.
“Dead? Who killed him?” Red Sparrow asked in surprise.
“That’s not important,” came the stern voice.
“The agreement is void, you have no value anymore.”
“No, I do.”
In Red Sparrow’s eyes flickered a deep-seated disgust.
“Don’t rush, you can listen to what I have to say before you decide.”
