Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 717 - Chapter 717 Chapter 591 Gushan_2

Chapter 717: Chapter 591 Gushan_2 Chapter 717: Chapter 591 Gushan_2 The Elder of Shadows’ body had no consciousness of its own, and could only react instinctively when attacked. It was only with Roger’s manipulation that his true strength could be unleashed.

At this point, Roger had no choice but to split his focus, directing most of his attention to the Elder of Shadows, striving to break free from Kurokawa’s control in a short time, and then assist in dealing with the riffraff surrounding him.

Indeed, with the dominion displayed by the Elder of Shadows, these Fourth Tier mid to high-level monsters were truly just riffraff.

It was only through actual combat that Roger realized the Superior Leader’s strength.

When it came to physical prowess, Kurokawa surely couldn’t compare to the Elder of Shadows, but Kurokawa was lucid, able to exert his full strength.

Roger, on the other hand, lacked experience in combat with the Superior Leader; had it not been for the guidance of the Sword Master Cold Crow, which elevated his swordsmanship to an extraordinarily high level,

he would have been nothing more than a punching bag, even if he could control the Elder of Shadows.

[Path of Water Extinguishment]

The demonic power enveloping the two was strange, seemingly between energy and solid matter. Roger controlled the Elder of Shadows to attack several times, but the power he unleashed was quickly absorbed and dispersed.

Taking a direct hit, the Quinn Sword Seal shattered, and a ghastly bloodstain appeared on Roger’s chest, the wound so deep it reached bone. Yet he seemed unfazed, his Sword of Destiny slashing through, bisecting his life-long enemy.

Blood splattered, most of which was absorbed by Roger, his eyes a fiery red, his injuries visibly healing at a rapid pace.

Meanwhile, the body of the Nekomata appeared, without any process of absorption or conversion of demonic power. It opened its mouth and actually swallowed the corpse of the monster whole.

Chaotic energy spread throughout his body; Roger felt no pain, his aura surged, the defensive power of the Quinn Sword Seal shot up, and the monsters that came into his vicinity were disrupted by the explosive force.

“This guy’s power…”

“It’s him!”

“It’s that thing!”

Panicked voices reached his ears. At first Roger was aware of them, but gradually his own senses failed him, leaving nothing but a mechanical urge to kill and consume in his mind.

Crack, crack!

As the Nekomata frantically devoured, the Spiritual Power enveloping Roger gradually transformed, and with it, the Elder of Shadows engaging Kurokawa in battle also began to change.

Ghastly bloodstains appeared on his pale skin, a flash of red light passing over them, then disappearing underneath the skin.

In his shriveled veins, red Energy converged, and the Pale Blood accumulating in his chest began to contract voluntarily under stimulation!

Roger went into a frenzy, with the Sword of Destiny becoming gleeful. The red glow on its blade moved swiftly, like a greedy pet yearning for more from its master!

Roger didn’t even notice that due to changes in his body, every strike he made triggered the ability of the Sword of Destiny.

An attack strength nearly triple the normal compensated fully for Roger’s physical deficit.

The Shadow’s Power had long been exhausted, and now the Essence Blood from Roger’s own body was sustaining the Elder of Shadows’ fight.

For this reason, the Nekomata had to devour even more voraciously.

Flesh, demonic power, along with other miscellaneous things.

Before the last vestiges of clarity in his eyes faded, a seventh tail grew out from the Nekomata!

In terms of Spiritual Power alone, Roger had successfully crossed the barrier, ascending to the latter phases of Fourth Tier.

According to the division of power among Cultivators, judging from his Spiritual Power Fluctuation, he was now equivalent to a cultivator in the Divine Passage Realm!

Too fast, the last shred of clarity in his mind reminded Roger that he must put a stop to this crazy devouring; if he continued, either the Nekomata’s body would burst from the chaotic Energy,

or Roger would completely lose his sanity, becoming a mere killing machine!

“Master, I’ll help you!”

Something more emerged from the shadows, Uma’s voice ringing in his ear; the next moment, the chaotic and explosive energy inside seemed to have found an outlet.

Roger thought he heard Uma’s pained grunt, knowing she was suffering. As the energy was transferred, consciousness gradually returned.

Now at this point, he had to choose to leave.

As for Higurashi Chika, Roger certainly couldn’t leave her here.

With his mind made up, Roger instantly recalled the Elder of Shadows. Just as he was about to leave, on the distant horizon, a blood-red meteor streaked across the sky!

Boom!

The ground shook, and a terrifying power swept around. Roger’s eyelids twitched as he realized the magnitude of the energy fluctuation surpassed even Kurokawa’s!

And, more fatally, this figure landed just a few steps away from Higurashi Chika.

Roger hadn’t noticed that, although the figure descended at an incredibly fast speed creating a deep crater on impact, the destroyed terrain seemed to intentionally avoid the area where Higurashi Chika was.

As the red light dissipated, Roger saw a man dressed in white as snow appear before him.

He appeared to be in his 40s, his hair grey and white, his medium length hair simply tied back. This man had an ordinary face, like a middle-aged office worker.

His gaze was icy cold, not due to excessive killing leading to numbness but pure deathly stillness that made one wonder if his eye sockets contained not eyes but two stones.

Upon first glimpse of this man, Roger almost subconsciously ignored his appearance and aura; all his attention was drawn to the weapon slanted at the man’s waist.

Twin Blades as red as blood!

Devoid of elaborate decoration, the simple sheaths and slightly longer handles were so striking that upon first sight, Roger couldn’t help but feel his heart skip a beat.

An inexplicable thought arose in his mind.

This man is dead, and it’s only these twin blades that are truly alive.

“Thinking of running?”

“You insulted me and think you can leave?!”

A roar disrupted Roger’s thoughts as Kurokawa plummeted from the sky.

His blades flowed like a long river.

Swinging the massive swords in his hands, demonic power stirred the surrounding energy, and judging by the momentum, it seemed as if the entire forest would be cleaved in two.

But the next second, Kurokawa, dropping from the sky, saw an additional figure that had appeared in the midst of the scene.

His face dramatically changed, and with a horizontal slash, the tremendous demonic power was directed elsewhere.

Boom!

Crack!

The odd trees and many monsters that couldn’t dodge in time were shattered by Kurokawa’s blade as he smoothly retracted his weapon and descended from the air.

He gazed intently at that figure.

“Gushan, what are you doing here?”

“Get lost!”

The man called Gushan turned around, looking at Kurokawa expressionlessly.

“What did you say?!”

Kurokawa replied with an angry chuckle, “Don’t think I’m afraid of you. I am the Superior Leader now. You think…”

Kurokawa’s bellowing came to an abrupt halt.

Because not far in front of him, the man known as Gushan had gripped the handles of the swords at his waist.

In that instant, it was as if infinite vitality was injected into his body; he raised his head, and a faint ripple passed through his lifeless gaze.

“Want to try?”

Kurokawa’s complexion turned extremely ugly. He tightened his grip on his massive sword as the demonic power behind him roared like waves.

Though they had not yet engaged in direct combat, the atmosphere between the two men had clearly changed.

One was like an angry sea.

The other was like cold rock.

Boom!

Crack!

Roger felt darkness before his eyes, all senses stripped away. The strange conflict nearly threw his Spiritual Power into chaos.

That was when he truly realized the might of a Superior Leader.

It wasn’t simply a matter of accumulating strength.

He knew that in that instant, Kurokawa had wielded his blade, but, helplessly, Roger discovered he couldn’t trace the trajectory of that strike.

Unsure when it began, or when it ended.

As if the direction of the force never existed at all.

Roger knew that if he faced that strike, he would undoubtedly die.

Crack.

The crisp sound of metal colliding reached his ears, and only then did Roger regain control over his body.

Looking up, he saw that Kurokawa’s weapon had vanished, and on his pale cheeks flickered an unnatural flush of red.

“You’ve won.”

With those words, he turned and leapt up into the sky, soon disappearing into the horizon.

Roger let out a sigh.

Is this the strength of a Superior Leader? He couldn’t help wondering who would be stronger or weaker compared to Sword Master Cold Crow.

Roger’s gaze returned, and only then did he notice the man called Gushan loosen his grip on the swords, thoughtfully staring in the direction of Higurashi Chika.

The expression on his face was strange, a mixture of confusion and fear.

Feeling intrigued, Roger walked forward.
