Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 682 - Chapter 682 Chapter 574 The Undefeated Bed
Chapter 682: Chapter 574: The Undefeated Bed Chapter 682: Chapter 574: The Undefeated Bed In Everworld, it was night, but here in Baytown, it was broad daylight; Roger walked straight out of the woods and hurried to Adeline’s home.
Baytown was near the ocean, and even as December drew to a close, the climate was relatively pleasant; Roger walked along the roadside, occasionally passed by vehicles.
However, compared to when he first arrived, there had been significant changes to both his demeanor and his appearance; the locals would have probably forgotten the boy who once stayed with Adeline’s family.
Only a very few might still remember him.
Walking into the small town.
The shops on both sides were decked out in bright lights, colorful lanterns and festoons, and Christmas trees placed at the doorsteps; it was only then that Roger realized that almost a year had passed since his Advent to this world.
“Christmas.”
Some of the historical similarities meant this traditional holiday was still preserved; he could see the joyful faces of children and town residents laden with shopping bags.
After arriving at Sunrise, especially when entering Everworld.
The strife and oppression of that world had made Roger forget the very concept of time.
“You brought me back for Christmas?” Roger gave a wry smile, noticing that the real world was still nearly a week away from this world’s Christmas.
Arriving at Adeline’s doorstep, Roger saw a pickup truck parked there, with a brawny man moving things from the vehicle.
Noticing Roger approaching, the man looked up, first eyeing Roger with suspicion, a flicker of thought crossing his eyes, before finally opening his mouth wide in an exaggerated expression.
“Wow… look who I see?!”
“Hey, Roger!”
“Long time no see, you’ve really changed a lot, I almost didn’t recognize you.”
The man gestured dramatically.
“I remember when we first met on the island, you were pitiful like a child… Of course, in terms of age, you’re still a kid now.”
Roger smiled and greeted him.
“Long time no see, Greg.”
The man in front of him was Adeline’s colleague, who had traveled to the island with her and brought Roger back to Baytown.
Roger remembered clearly, at first, Greg had been quite hostile towards him, partly out of professional caution.
Another reason was that he had been pursuing Adeline, and Roger’s arrival completely disrupted his plans.
An additional person in the house.
The days that were supposed to be for dates were instead filled with miscellaneous matters, naturally causing considerable dissatisfaction for Greg.
These matters were later related to Roger by Amanda.
“How have you been lately? I heard from Adeline that…”
“Greg, whom are you talking to?”
Adeline’s voice came from inside the house; Roger turned around to see Adeline, dressed in casual wear, walking out from the room.
The two must have just come back from shopping, carrying bags and bags of items.
“Roger!”
Seeing Roger, Adeline too showed excitement, she set down what she was holding, stepped swiftly forward, and embraced Roger.
Roger had grown so much taller than before, he had to bend down.
Gently brushing her cheek against Roger’s, Adeline whispered into his ear, “Seeing you safe and sound is the best news.”
“I always wanted to know where you had gone, but Amanda and your peculiar friend refused to tell me.”
“It’s good to be back.”
“Let me help.”
Adeline’s concern warmed Roger’s heart; no matter how difficult the hardships he faced in Everworld, coming back here, he could still feel the long-missed sense of peace.
For Roger, Baytown and Adeline held extraordinary significance.
The three of them quickly finished moving things from the truck, and Adeline went back inside to tidy things up, leaving Roger and Greg behind.
“Hey, Roger.”
Greg hesitated for a moment, seeming to hold back, but then bit the bullet and spoke, “I had some prejudices against you before because from the first time I saw you, I always felt you were hiding something.”
“Hear me out; I know this suspicion was baseless, just a so-called instinct of a law enforcement officer, which even seems somewhat ridiculous.”
“Although we never actually had a substantial conflict, I still want to apologize for my previous prejudices.”
Greg’s voice was sincere, and his large frame made his awkward demeanour not ridiculous but conveyed genuine earnestness.
“You did what you had to do; it’s nothing really.” Roger, of course, didn’t mind in the slightest.
“Haha, that’s good then!”
Greg immediately relaxed, stepped forward, and lowered his voice conspiratorially.
“Don’t laugh, but I’ve been planning to propose to Adeline lately; as you know, she cares a lot about you and about Amanda. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not apologizing to you for this reason…”
“She considers you like her own child, and I would also like to be friends with you, uh…”
As if afraid Roger might misunderstand, Greg explained in a flustered manner.
“Then you better seize the moment.”
Roger gave Greg a meaningful look, having somewhat sensed their rapidly developing relationship from what Amanda had told him. In fact, after so many years of working together, they both understood each other’s feelings.
But Adeline had too many concerns, and Greg had been hesitating, hence the dragging on.
And because Roger and Amanda had stepped into the Transcendent World, such a Transformation had a significant impact on Adeline.
