Chapter 669: Chapter 567 Divine Master Advent (2)_2 Chapter 669: Chapter 567 Divine Master Advent (2)_2 “Ran’ei Divine Master?!”
Surprise resonated in the voice, but at that moment an old voice rose.
“Hmm, let them in.”
The next moment the door opened, and Roger saw the figure seated behind a case table in the dimly lit room.
Thin and aged, yet seemingly one with the entire Snow Mountain.
Unshakably powerful!
“Father!” Yatagarasu Kensumi said as he briskly walked in with Roger, and it was then that Roger realized there were other people in the room.
It was a giant of a man, over two meters tall, with wild hair growing unrestrained like flames, and he wore the kind of snug shorts that were common everywhere. His thick arms rested on the table, making one suspect that he could overturn the fragile wooden table with little effort.
Dangerous.
A sense of alarm surged in Roger’s heart as he saw the burly man lift his head and casually glanced at him.
Thick beard spread from his cheeks to his neck, and on his left eye there was a deep scar, the eyelid sliced open to reveal the dull eyeball within.
In the world of Transcendents, unless for extremely special reasons, physical mutilations could be completely remedied by many means.
But this fellow…
He sat there quietly, a dormant volcano brimming with terrible power.
His large hands carefully held up the small cup on the table, which seemed somewhat comical compared to his size.
But it was exactly because of the intense feeling of the man’s strength that Roger was even more surprised; just moments ago, when he looked into the room from outside, he hadn’t noticed this towering figure at all.
Because all the light in the room, all the attention of people’s sight, was drawn to that withered figure.
“Sit down.”
The Sword Master Cold Crow said lightly.
“Father, you listen to me…”
As soon as Yatagarasu Kensumi began to speak, he was interrupted by the Sword Master Cold Crow.
“Sit.”
This time he spoke just one word, without any emphasis or the so-called powerful pressure.
But Yatagarasu Kensumi felt an inexplicable reassurance; he stealthily signaled to Roger with his eyes, and then sat down opposite the burly man.
Roger naturally followed behind without a word.
“Did you kill them?”
The Sword Master Cold Crow picked up a wine flask, not lifting his head as he spoke.
“It was me.”
Roger replied softly.
He had no need to lie about this matter.
“You knew of Aian San’s identity and still you killed him!”
“Ha ha!”
“I may have underestimated you.”
He glanced at Roger lightly, “Hmm, has it been just a few days, and you’ve completely absorbed the effects of the Black Spirit Water?”
“Or is it…”
Before he could finish, Roger felt a burst of piercing light explode from the eyes of the Sword Master Cold Crow.
His exposed skin even started to sting, as if a sharp weapon were pressed against his body.
In that instant, Roger felt as though he was seen right through, and he nearly instinctively used the power of Shadow’s Touch.
“Heh heh, interesting.”
The Sword Master Cold Crow withdrew his gaze and said no more.
In that brief moment, Roger felt the cold sweat on his back dampen his clothes.
Too frightening, was he really about to die?
It was said he hadn’t made a move in 20 years; was it true, as the rumors said, due to bodily decline, or was he suppressing something?
Or perhaps… waiting for something?
“Meiryu, Kensumi, how long has it been since you two last saw each other?”
“Ha ha, it’s rare for us to gather today, we must drink to our hearts’ content!”
The Sword Master Cold Crow appeared to be in high spirits, even knowing the Ishii Family had betrayed the Sword Pavilion, but these things hadn’t affected his mood.
Indeed, that burly hulk of a man was the rumored Yatagarasu Akiryu.
Just by his build, Roger thought the Sword Master Cold Crow must have looked like this in his youth.
“Stepfather, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a drink with you too,” said the Yatagarasu Akiryu.
His voice was deep, and although he tried to restrain it, the sound that carried was like distant thunder.
“So many years have slipped by in an instant, I still remember the first time you drank,” the Sword Master Cold Crow laughed heartily.
“This little rascal actually sneaked into the wine jar to drink when I was away. If I hadn’t found out in time, you’d probably have drowned in there!”
The tone between the two was relaxed, and comparatively, they seemed more like actual father and son in both form and temperament.
“Thinking about it, such a death might not be so bad after all.”
Yatagarasu Akiryu bared his teeth in a grin, and upon hearing his words, the Sword Master Cold Crow couldn’t help nodding, “There’s some truth in that; swords, wine, and women – for a samurai, at the time of death, if one of those accompanies you, it’s enough.”
The Sword Master Cold Crow sighed.
“That’s just an ordinary person, step-father.”
“You won’t die. The situation has made a breakthrough, maybe…”
Boom!
Suddenly, a dull thunder interrupted the Yatagarasu Meiryu’s words. At the same time, the hunched-over figure of Sword Master Cold Crow abruptly sat upright. He tilted his head back to drain the cup of wine, his expression indescribably complex.
“Heh, you really did come?”
“Are you here to join me for a drink, or is it really just for that dead waste?”
Crack!
Lightning split the night sky, and immediately after, the tightly shut wooden door was opened, revealing an elegant silhouette standing before the doorway.
Roger slightly shifted, his pupils suddenly constricting.
When he had just arrived in this world, he had once fought Ran’ei Divine Master from a distance, but during that encounter, Ran’ei Divine Master’s power had been greatly diminished by the counteracting spatial forces.
Still, after the direct clash, Roger had been seriously injured.
And this time, it could be considered their first real meeting.
“Clap clap!”
Ran’ei Divine Master slowly walked into the room, the wooden door behind him slowly closing. From start to finish, his gaze remained fixed on that gaunt and withered figure, ignoring everyone else as if they were completely irrelevant.
“The familiar scent of wine…”
Ran’ei Divine Master’s nostrils flared, “You should know, I stopped drinking many years ago.”
“That’s a real shame.”
Sword Master Cold Crow set down his wine cup, and the entire room seemed to freeze.
Roger’s muscles slowly tensed, the distance between him and Ran’ei Divine Master was too close. At such proximity, he couldn’t even guarantee that he could activate the power of Shadow’s Touch before an attack reached him.
“It seems you didn’t heed my advice.”
Ran’ei Divine Master slightly tilted his head to examine Roger, the tides of Spiritual Power overwhelming him.
But Roger still stood straight.
“You didn’t either!”
“Hehe.” Ran’ei Divine Master chuckled softly, yet suddenly withdrew his Spiritual Power.
“If I wanted to kill him, would you stop me?”
Ran’ei Divine Master asked.
“Haha.”
Sword Master Cold Crow let out a loud laugh, his body swaying, his robes appearing even more voluminous.
“No!”
“But you will die.”
He calmly stated, as if narrating an inevitability destined to happen.
“You dare to make a move?” Ran’ei Divine Master asked.
Sword Master Cold Crow no longer answered, but his silence conveyed everything.
“We are about to succeed.”
Ran’ei Divine Master suddenly changed the topic.
“I know.”
“No, you don’t know!”
“If you truly knew, you wouldn’t have chosen to leave back then, and our differences wouldn’t be irreconcilable like they are now.”
Ran’ei Divine Master countered.
“Because you were wrong.”
“And is what you chose correct?”
Ran’ei Divine Master snorted coldly.
Sword Master Cold Crow picked up the pot, filling the empty cup.
“I only believe in the sword in my hand.”
“Your choices are doomed to despair, without shattering the clouds above, sunlight will never emerge.”
“Hehe.”
Ran’ei Divine Master shook his head.
“It seems we can’t come to an understanding.”
“Heh, didn’t you already know that?”
Sword Master Cold Crow scoffed.
Hearing the conversation between the two, Roger couldn’t help but feel his hair stand on end. Although he was unclear why Ran’ei Divine Master had chosen the Ishii Family as the subject for his research, did the withered old man really know nothing about all this?
Or could it be…?
Roger’s pupils suddenly constricted again, thinking of what Michihiro Morita had said about the progress changes, as well as Ishii Mitsugu and others mentioning things like insect eggs.
Could it be that while Ran’ei Divine Master was using the Ishii Family, Sword Master Cold Crow was also exploiting them?!
If that was the case…
It was all too terrifying!
