Chapter 493 - Chapter 493 Chapter 479 Elder of Shadows (Two-in-One)

Chapter 493: Chapter 479: Elder of Shadows (Two-in-One) Chapter 493: Chapter 479: Elder of Shadows (Two-in-One) The sense of constriction on his body disappeared, and Roger felt he had arrived at a different space, but before he had time to adapt to the environment and look around,

a hoarse yet authoritative voice rose directly from his mind.

“I’m hungry!!”

That voice exploded abruptly in Roger’s brain, catching him completely off guard. His head felt heavy, and he took a deep breath, hurriedly concentrating the spiritual power in his mind.

Buzz!

It was like his head was being struck by a sledgehammer, his vision turning abstract. Deep within his brain, the funnel-shaped Array formed by five Dharma Seals began to resist instinctively against the powerful force.

But even so, the stark impact still caused Roger’s vision to darken.

“What’s going on?”

The voice was so sudden, it seemed like a casual remark, but even so, it took Roger a full three seconds to recover to normal.

It was only a brief moment, but if intended, it would have been enough for him to die countless times over.

He shook his head to dispel the dizziness clouding his brain, then looked around.

The surroundings were dim, with black smoke shrouding overhead, and his current location seemed to be the peak of a small mountain.

But just a glance was enough to deflate Roger’s interest in further exploration.

The area here was too small, not even half the size of his garden.

He walked to the edge, where black smoke swirled around his feet. Unlike the space around the Shadow Cottage, the black smoke here filled Roger with a sense of danger.

Roger casually took off a button and tossed it gently–the button flew out of the mountain top area.

The next second, the surrounding black smoke, like a living thing, wrapped around the golden button, which was then engulfed by the black smoke.

“Gone.”

It was a strange feeling, one that Roger couldn’t even describe whether the button was teleported to another world or completely obliterated by an opposite energy.

He looked down and saw a patch of black water where he had first appeared.

Bending over, Roger could see through the puddle to the passageway outside the Shadow Cottage.

“Water’s Gate.”

In this world, the form of a gate was an intangible liquid.

Roger extended his hand to test it, and a cool sensation transmitted up from his palm, a pulling force spreading to his whole body. He “saw” the broken passageway and knew that he could return to the world of the Shadow Cottage whenever he wished.

Standing here, Roger felt entirely different from standing on the land outside the Shadow Cottage.

Perhaps this scenery was the norm in the Shadow World.

“Where’s the food?”

Roger was pondering when that eerie voice came again, causing a stab of pain in his brain, but he quickly reacted, resisting the invasion.

Then he looked in the direction from which the consciousness emanated.

A black boulder.

The stone seamlessly merged with the mountain beneath his feet, almost unnoticeable unless looked at closely. Roger approached the rock, sensing no strong presence from behind it.

Taking a step forward, his foot effortlessly passed through the rock, and darkness enveloped his vision–a passageway appeared at his feet.

Roger stood in place for a moment, thinking. The clothes on his body changed shape, and a black hood appeared over his head. Extending his hand into the dark, the Shadow Sword automatically leapt into his grip.

Ready for what lay ahead, Roger stepped forward and walked down.

The unknown might represent danger, but for whatever reason, he had to go forth and investigate.

Most of his body was shrouded in shadows, his abilities in the shadows enhanced. Roger was always ready not to fight, but to flee.

There were no stairs beneath his feet, the passageway twisted and turned, sometimes wide and sometimes narrow. In this environment, even Roger’s vision was affected.

Not in the physical sense, but by a special energy interfering with him.

Preventing him from seeing clearly.

He could feel the stickiness underfoot and the stench within the tunnel, and the walls around him didn’t seem to be made of stone.

It felt soft yet tough, more like the flesh and blood of some creature.

“Am I inside the body of some giant creature right now?”

As he walked downwards, Roger outlined all the previous areas he had passed through in his mind.

For a Demon Hunter, this was basic skill.

But before long, Roger furrowed his brow and stopped.

“How is this possible?”

Having undergone numerous transformations, Roger was confident in himself, and such simple tricks should not go wrong. Yet, just then, the map he had outlined in his mind showed an overlap.

Two pathways intersected each other.

Colliding in space.

This was clearly a paradox.

After noting the current layout, Roger continued onwards, but the more he walked, the more mistakes appeared, and the overlapping areas gradually expanded, with the number of passageways also increasing.

Before long, the map in his mind had turned into a knotted mess.

“Is some energy interfering with my perception?”

Roger believed he might misjudge direction, but his method of measurement didn’t rely solely on sensation.

Uniform strides, multi-angle comparisons…

“Are the passageways moving?”

This place was like a labyrinth; if the passageways could adjust themselves, Roger felt he might never be able to reach the true core area.

He stopped again quickly.

Multiple forks appeared before him, not just one.

At that moment, the Cursed Sword he held in his hand began to tremble, and the blade emitted a faint hum as the black energy shrouding it rose tumultuously.

Roger relaxed slightly and walked forward following the force on the blade.

“Food, food!”
