Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 470 - Chapter 470 Chapter 466 Restlessness (Two-In-One)

Chapter 470: Chapter 466: Restlessness (Two-In-One) Chapter 470: Chapter 466: Restlessness (Two-In-One) Lancelot enjoyed the quiet.

He especially liked the feeling of standing alone at a high vantage point and looking down upon the land, which gave him the illusion that everything was under his control.

However, many things had recently slipped out of his grasp, especially the operation beneath Baron Iron Tower. Although he had eliminated Gawain’s interference, he was widely condemned for the mission’s failure.

His estrangement was evident in Green’s attitude.

He gently tapped the button on the desk.

At that moment, he desperately wanted to taste some absinthe. When the bell rang, there was no response for a long time; just as Lancelot was growing impatient, the door suddenly swung open without warning.

A familiar voice sounded.

“Tsk tsk, the renowned First Knight, and yet there’s no one to share a drink with you.”

“How forlorn.”

Lancelot whipped around, his eyes as frosty as congealed ice.

“Gawain!?”

Gawain casually tossed an unopened bottle of absinthe, but no sooner had it flown halfway than it was enveloped by an abrupt gust of energy, landing on the floor as a lump of ice.

“What are you doing here?!”

Lancelot asked coldly.

“Just checking on my once greatest competitor.”

Gawain casually found a chair to sit, his expression relaxed as if he really was visiting a long-lost friend.

Lancelot clenched his fists, a layer of frost enveloping him. When the sunlight from outside filtered through the glass and onto his body, it was as though he had been armored in ice.

The time was noon.

In such conditions, defeating Gawain was nearly impossible.

Seemingly oblivious to the combative aura emanating from Lancelot, Gawain spoke nonchalantly, “Do you really think I’m your biggest obstacle?”

Gawain smiled.

“Even if you catch me, are you certain you can become the next leader of the Knights?”

Lancelot narrowed his eyes slightly.

“What do you mean?”

“You know better than anyone that your biggest barrier isn’t me, it’s Bedivere.”

“He’s the oldest Heritage Knight among all of us, having served in the Knights even before Green became leader.”

“He’s also the one who’s been cautious to inherit the least.”

“You do understand what this means, right?”

“He discovered and obstructed the Advent of Dark Deer Head Spirit Kelnan and Headless Knight Rams. And though he may not seem as dazzling as we are, his actual combat power isn’t lacking.”

Gawain lightly tapped on the table.

“Under these circumstances, if you were Green, whom would you choose?”

Lancelot’s breathing became more rapid.

He certainly understood this logic but had always been avoiding it.

“Are you trying to bewitch me?”

Lancelot’s throat issued a roar like an Earth Dragon, feeling mocked by Gawain, which he took as an insult, not to his strength, but to his intellect.

“I know what you’re thinking, you want me to help you create chaos to weaken the Knights’ power for your own ends!”

Lancelot took a few deep breaths to regain his calm.

“Will you leave on your own, or shall I force you out?”

He sneered, “I may not be able to detain you, but if I wish, I can surely make you pay a price!”

Gawain stood up, taking the hint.

“Let’s not resort to violence, I’m leaving now.”

He spread his palms.

“I was merely offering a small suggestion.”

He shook his head, “But it’s a pity, you’ve disappointed me greatly.”

“Dear Lancelot, what you can gain depends on what you’re willing to give.”

“Freedom comes at a precious price.”

“Unwilling to give anything, just waiting for others’ handouts…”

Gawain slowly retreated, standing by the door with an enigmatic smile on his face.

“No matter how powerful, you’re just a dog on a leash.”

Before Lancelot could erupt in fury, Gawain leaped out of the adjacent window.

“Bang!”

A roar erupted, and the floor at the doorway burst, frost spreading, nearly sealing the entire door.

Lancelot’s face darkened, and when he reached the doorway, he discovered Gawain’s trace had already disappeared.

“Do you take me for a fool?”

“Knowing this is a trap, would I still jump in?” Lancelot’s mouth held a mocking smile, but his eyes were evasive, indicating a fierce internal struggle.

An idea took root in his mind.

“If Bedivere dies too, then I will be the sole, overwhelmingly favorite candidate for leader!”

“No, I can’t fall for Gawain’s tricks!”

Lancelot murmured to himself.

“Such a thing, once discovered…”

“Why would it be discovered? If it’s done stealthily, planned more intricately…”

“Not targeting Bedivere, but someone close to him…”

A malicious thought took shape in his mind; Lancelot knew the consequences of such actions, but he couldn’t help thinking, analyzing about it.

And perhaps… acting on it!

Meanwhile, having left Lancelot behind, Gawain looked completely at ease. Of course, he knew Lancelot wasn’t someone who could be easily swayed by a few words, but even so, Gawain was willing to give it a try.

Lancelot seemed proud and aloof, but in reality, he was somewhat indecisive. Certain traits in his bloodline made him easily swayed by emotions.

In truth, he didn’t have many options left.

Even if he did nothing now, once the idea was planted, when the opportunity arose, he would not be able to help himself; he would do something.
