Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 452 - Chapter 452 Chapter 452 Promotion Ceremony
Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Promotion Ceremony Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Promotion Ceremony “Since you’re not willing to get involved directly, let’s change the terms.”
“You don’t need to show up for anything in the Foreign Spirit Assembly, but I hope you can make an appearance at the meeting as a kind of spiritual symbol to appease others for me.”
“Compared to the Round Table Knight Order and other forces, our mid-tier power isn’t bad–we even have a slight edge. The biggest gap between us is in the high-level combat power.”
“That is, combat power above the Fourth Tier.”
“Your previous performance successfully deceived everyone; some even believe you to be a being of the Fifth Tier or higher.”
“So, let’s go with the flow. You, as a hidden spiritual leader, don’t have to do anything, and leave the rest to me.”
“Because of the conflict between body and soul, it’s very difficult for us to produce combat power above the Fourth Tier, which has severely undermined everyone’s confidence.”
“And your existence can serve as a perfect example for everyone.”
Gawain looked at Roger, “As a reward, I can try to offer you some help within my power.”
“For example…”
“The head of a demon or a small piece of the Shadow Gate fragments?”
Gawain knew Roger’s range of abilities, and the conditions he offered hit right at what Roger needed.
The real Mr. Mist might be hard to buy off, but when it came to Roger, who was also at the peak of the Third Tier, it was much easier in comparison.
“I want the Shadow Fragments.”
Roger didn’t want to face the Privy Council directly, but he had no reason to refuse benefits that came knocking.
He knew that by making such a choice, he would be taking on some possible risks, but there are no absolutely safe undertakings in this world. If he wasn’t even willing to take on this bit of risk,
what was he doing being a Demon Hunter?
Better to go back to school and play the clarinet.
As long as he stayed hidden in the Misty World and never showed himself, no one would be able to find him. As for how to obtain what he wanted, he had already planned.
“So do we have a deal?”
A hint of a smile appeared on Gawain’s face, and at that moment, Roger suddenly felt that perhaps this was the man’s true intention all along.
He had never intended Roger to truly become the Controller of the Foreign Spirit Assembly. In fact, this situation was perfect.
“Wait for my message. When everything is ready, I will notify you.”
“Please give me some time, and I will personally deliver what you want after the meeting is over.”
“A pleasure doing business.”
Gawain nodded and vanished into thin air.
Roger concluded the ceremony and blew out the candles, then turned to look out the window at the slowly rising fog, the view prompting him to ponder his current situation.
Gawain’s words had made him feel slightly uneasy, but Roger quickly clenched his fist.
“Work hard to improve your strength.”
“Strength is the ultimate argument!”
Upon leaving the Mist Hut, Roger returned to the Shadow Cottage. He pushed the door open and walked outside, slowly exploring his surroundings.
The environment had changed since before; the area shrouded by the Shadow Cottage had expanded, and with an increase in size, it inevitably encroached upon some unknown regions.
At the end of the garden, a narrow path had appeared. Roger walked up the rough stone steps, barely able to make out some fences on either side.
But when he continued to approach, he reluctantly discovered that, after walking for a while, even though he was moving, when he looked back, he was just treading in place.
At the end of the path, a faint door began to appear. Combining what the Mountain Woman had once said, Roger immediately understood that this was likely the passageway connecting to the other Shadow Fragments.
If he could obtain the Shadow Gate Fragment from the hands of the Black Soul and integrate it into this door, he should be able to use this channel to enter another area.
Since there was no way to pass through for the time being, Roger retraced his steps. Besides this path, many changes had occurred along the surrounding edges.
Roger stood at the edge, scrutinizing carefully. In the darkness, the scenery changed, and many things were indistinct. He couldn’t even tell if it was his imagination or if there were indeed such things.
“Do I need to continue upgrading the level of the Hunter’s Cabin?”
Back in the real world, Roger adjusted to the changes in strength in his body. The Dream Trials were coming to an end, and according to Roger’s estimation, his overall strength should be able to reach the Fourth Tier when the trials were over.
This level was equivalent to that of the leaders of the three major forces, a significant watershed moment.
After this, he would begin the last trial of a Demon Hunter.
The High Mountain Trial.
Roger was very much looking forward to this.
Henrik and Claudia had left the estate. They now had money and leisure, and with abundant energy, it seemed they planned to embark on a spontaneous trip.
Roger felt envious of this. He also harbored some thoughts, wondering whether he should take the opportunity to do as Gawain had suggested, to feign death and get away from the Round Table Knight Order.
Then, with Amanda, travel the world and experience the life of ordinary people?
While he was enjoying his rare leisure time, he received an unexpected call.
“Goway?”
“How do you have the time to contact me?”
“Thank you for your gift. The Transcendent Being was much more powerful than I had imagined. Everything is going well, and I am just one step away from advancing to the Third Tier.”
Goway seemed very happy over the phone.
“Do you have some time recently?”
“I hope you can attend my promotion ceremony. After all, without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to come this far so quickly.”
“The time and place.”
Roger, too, was happy for Goway and agreed without hesitation.
He was unclear when exactly the handover would take place and, for Roger, this was merely a formality.
He had no thoughts of taking a position in Poland and even began to consider Gawain’s advice, looking for a way to leave the sphere of influence of the Round Table Knight Order.
As for the so-called Black Tide, since the Privy Council had the strength, let them deal with it.
He felt that he could finally settle down and enjoy the life of a Demon Hunter in peace.
“The time is set for two days from now.”
Goway thought for a moment, then cautioned, “Don’t bring anything related to the Round Table Knights.”
Roger nodded in understanding. These Secret Blood Families were almost treated like breeding grounds by some Heritage Knights, with someone being chosen in every generation.
After so many years, the resentment had piled up. They had nearly come to utterly despise everything related to the Round Table Knights. If Goway’s strength had not been close to the Third Tier, there would be secrets she might never uncover.
“It seems this is a grand gathering. Do I need to prepare some gifts in advance?” Roger was not clear on the customs of the Secret Blood Families.
There was a moment of hesitation on the other end of the phone. Roger thought he heard a faint chuckle, followed by Goway’s somewhat flustered voice.
“You don’t need anything.”
“Just your presence will be enough!”
