Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 435 - Chapter 435 Chapter 435 Rogers Choice
Chapter 435: Chapter 435 Roger’s Choice Chapter 435: Chapter 435 Roger’s Choice “You’re not participating in this transaction anymore?”
It was Black Soul who spoke, voicing the confusion that Roger also harbored.
Abraham spread his hands, “I’ve already found the method to enter the next stage, and have invested a lot into it, so I will not be participating this time.”
Abraham’s words drew sidelong glances from the crowd.
“Please continue, everyone. The treasures you hold are indeed eye-opening.”
He leaned back to signal the person sitting beside him to proceed.
However, due to Abraham’s withdrawal, the atmosphere of the entire meeting seemed to undergo a strange change, with everyone becoming somewhat distracted.
Not until Black Soul brought out his treasure.
An transparent glass case, inside of which there seemed to be a wisp of substance as thin as a layer of black gauze.
“What is that? Some kind of special soul?”
Someone asked.
Black Soul shook his head.
“Soul? This thing is far more precious than the so-called soul.”
“It comes from the Shadow World, a fragment left over from the shattering of the world, and if one figures out how, it could even serve as a springboard to enter that enigmatic place.”
Black Soul lifted the glass case in his hands.
It was clear that something capable of containing a World Fragment was also no ordinary item.
“Wasn’t the Shadow World already destroyed? What use is that thing?”
“The destruction of a world is never so simple; it could break apart into countless fragments, and within these fragments might very well lie treasures beyond our imagination.”
“If it were any other world that had collapsed, re-entering it would become exceedingly difficult, but the Shadow World is different.”
“As long as one finds the right method, every shadow could potentially be an entrance to that broken world.”
“And what I hold in my hand comes from a mysterious place. I can assure that in the hands of one who truly grasps the way into the Shadow World, it is the unique key!”
As he spoke, Black Soul slowly stood up, his gaze burning as he looked at Roger, who was sitting not far away.
“Shadow Gate?”
Roger, having thought of something, tentatively asked, “The fragment you mentioned, does it come from a certain Shadow Gate?”
Black Soul clapped in admiration.
“You really are well-informed. Indeed, it comes from a Shadow Gate, and as for the world beyond the gate, I’ve tried everything, yet I found no path.”
“But I think this item may be able to realize its true purpose in your hands.”
“Hmm.”
Roger nodded. If this were earlier, the item indeed had enough reason to intrigue him, but now, ever since Abraham had spoken those words about withdrawing from the transaction, Roger’s entire focus had shifted onto Abraham.
“Withdrawing from the transaction; what exactly does this guy plan to do?”
“Has he found the key method to supplement his flaw and enter the Fourth Tier?”
“No, it can’t be. Even if he can condense a new strain of Pale Blood, to maintain the integrity of the bloodline, he can’t do without this part he holds in his hand.”
“He must have some other plan. But what could it be?”
The indifference displayed on Roger’s face left Black Soul somewhat surprised, and though he opened his mouth, not knowing what else to say, he eventually sat down.
Then came the turn of the last person at the meeting.
The Paladin.
In this meeting, the Paladin had been extremely low-key, but soon the item he brought out attracted everyone’s attention.
It was a Silver Manuscript filled with golden threads.
The manuscript merely floated in mid-air, and everyone seemed to hear the sound of ocean waves crashing against the shore. In an instant, it was as if everyone could smell the sea, and even the air turned slightly more humid.
“Fairy Tale World Fragment!?”
“A Silver Manuscript!” someone exclaimed.
“Not merely that, it has also been infused with five ordinary manuscripts. To say this object represents a small world is no exaggeration.”
The Paladin didn’t elaborate too much; he was quite satisfied with everyone’s surprise. “Mr. Mist, I believe you understand the significance of this item.”
“For you, the treasures inside are certainly important, but what might be even more worth penetrating would be the world’s rules, wouldn’t it?”
“After all, having stepped into the Fifth Tier, the real world will begin to reject us. In such a circumstance, our true combat power might even be less than that of a Fourth Tier Transcendent.”
“At this time, a small world with a complete set of rules becomes extremely important.”
“Wouldn’t you agree?”
Roger narrowed his eyes. Such news was new to him. He looked around; everyone’s gaze was fixed on him.
Although he still couldn’t fathom Abraham’s motives, it was time for Roger to make a decision.
Among all present, only three possessed truly precious items: the Flame Demon, Black Soul, and the Paladin.
Of these, the fragment of the Shadow Gate held by Black Soul was the most enticing to Roger, but just as he was about to make his choice, a thought struck him, and he spoke up:
“While the items in the possession of the Flame Demon and Black Soul are quite fine, I’d prefer a larger garden for my pet.”
“Paladin, I choose your Silver Manuscript.”
“Time will prove your choice to be exceedingly correct.”
The Paladin clenched his fist.
“Mr. Mist, when shall we begin the trade?”
“The sooner the better, as I can hardly wait to step into the Fourth Tier!”
“Heh!”
Black Soul let out a cold laugh. “What do you think the Fourth Tier is? A door? That you can just walk through whenever you wish?”
The Paladin, however, seemed completely calm.
“At least I have found the right direction and obtained the key to the door.”
He glanced at Black Soul. “You, on the other hand, keep studying your Shadow Gate. Maybe one day, fortune will fall from the sky and, upon waking up, you’ll find yourself a Fourth Tier.”
Black Soul knew that anything more he said would only provoke others’ ridicule. He nodded to Roger, “Mr. Mist, I look forward to your next trade.”
With that, his figure vanished from the spot.
One after another, the others also disappeared, even Abraham didn’t linger.
“Now it’s just the two of us left, Mr. Mist. When would you like to proceed with the trade?”
“Where shall we conduct the trade?” The Paladin carefully asked the most crucial question.
“This place is too desolate for my liking. I’d prefer somewhere livelier. Let’s go to Baron and see that world-famous Iron Tower.”
Upon hearing Roger’s words, the Paladin let out a long sigh of relief. A bustling area in the real world was much better than any remote, bizarre place. Both parties would have to consider their surroundings, which also showed Roger’s sincerity.
“Looking forward to meeting with you.”
After agreeing on the time, location, and related details, the image of the Paladin disappeared for good.
Roger sat quietly in the chair, alone in the now-empty space.
It wasn’t until the candle burned down and the ceremony concluded that Roger’s mind began to clear a bit.
“Was everything already arranged, knowing I would choose the Paladin?”
“No, not necessarily!” A spark of insight flashed in Roger’s eyes.
“Perhaps no matter whom I chose, the outcome would be the same for him!”
“Abraham, are you planning to wait passively for your opportunity?”
