Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 405 - Chapter 405 Chapter 405 Good Evil and Neutral
Chapter 405: Chapter 405 Good, Evil, and Neutral Chapter 405: Chapter 405 Good, Evil, and Neutral Henrik’s breathing was heavy but he did not make a sound, his head swaying with some heaviness.
“What happened?”
“Don’t tell me the place you were just at was also a castle identical to this one, how did you get here?”
“You killed a beast?”
Henrik said with some irritation.
“No.”
Goway wiped the blood off her dagger, “I didn’t see any so-called beast, and the second after I separated from Roger, I found myself in the midst of a bustling market.”
“People dressed in coarse clothes were walking around the market, while I had a basket slung over my shoulder and had completely transformed into another person.”
“More importantly, aside from some perceptions of nature and the ability to vaguely grasp animal psychology, all my spells and spiritual power had vanished.”
The three of them walked down from the rooftop while talking.
“How did you get here?”
Roger asked curiously.
“I was selling some handcrafted trinkets in the town, which appears to be what the original owner of this body usually did.”
“Soon after, a man named Gaston came over to chat, I didn’t pay attention to him, but just when I was about to look around the town, my body seemed to be pulled by an instinct.”
“This feeling was very sudden, as if your subconscious was telling you what to do.”
“The remaining spiritual power wasn’t much, but enough for me to resist this sudden consciousness, suppressing the thought, I began to investigate the surrounding environment.”
“Then, I was blocked in a secluded alley by that man named Gaston.”
“The man was flippant in his speech, but he was only verbally taking advantage; it seemed he planned to propose to the father of this body’s real owner.”
Goway’s eyes flashed.
“However, what I didn’t expect was that a man accompanying Gaston urged him to simply seize me.”
“That guy spouted some strange words, saying it was really inconvenient not having a camera on hand; otherwise, if he could record the whole process, things would be much easier.”
“Through that sentence, I knew the man’s identity.”
“Then…”
Goway lifted her head, pride on her face.
“Although my proper fighting skills aren’t comparable to a real Blood Hunter, I was more than capable of dealing with a few ordinary people.”
“What I didn’t expect was that soon after killing that Gaston, the surrounding scenery began to twist and the houses started collapsing. While running, I found a red wooden door identical to the previous one.”
“Entering here, I met you.”
“So it was like that.”
Roger then recounted his experience with Henrik to Goway, and with the information from all three of them brought together, they could basically infer what had happened.
“A story within a story…”
Goway analyzed with effort, “Each story’s environment and characters are broadly similar, yet the specific development and threads are completely different, each with a single main thread running through it.”
She looked at Roger, “The world you experienced was devoid of any sympathy and peace, beasts killing humans, using their flesh and souls as fertilizer to irrigate the castle’s beautiful flowers.”
“After ripening, these gorgeous flowers were dug out of the earth, chopped into minced meat, and served at the table.”
“This is pure evil.”
“But the one I experienced was peaceful, with a simple folkway, and that man named Gaston, although frivolous, was not filled with malevolence.”
“If it weren’t for the interference of the outsider, perhaps the story would have developed just like a fairy tale; the prince turned into a beast, his appearance fearsome but his heart kind, with the true villain being Gaston.”
“This aligns more closely with the theme of goodness,”
Goway continued the train of thought.
“As for Henrik,”
“The castle’s prince maintained a human appearance with flesh and blood, believing in equivalent exchange, he kept a collection of beauties in the castle with vast riches.”
“Here lies both the malicious human heart and seemingly fair trades, good and evil maintaining a delicate balance.”
“This represents a world of neutrality.”
“Three worlds, three standings, complementing each other, forming a complete balance.”
“What an ingenious design.”
“But what was his purpose in doing this?”
About this question, Goway was momentarily without a clue.
“The souls you saw in the castle are but an insignificant portion of a person’s total soul amount. Ordinary people losing this part would only experience short-term memory loss, along with a reduction in health and lifespan.”
“Their lives aren’t in danger.”
“Stephen may have stumbled upon a world’s secret by mistake. As a world began to disintegrate, the more of his own soul became involved.”
“This is probably why the amount of soul he left here far exceeds others, which in turn had a severe impact on the real-world Stephen.”
Goway walked to the window, and it was only then that Roger noticed the Full Moon hanging in the night sky, while the place he had just been featured a Waning Moon.
“Two worlds have been destroyed; if we die here, the situation might be worse than Stephen’s!”
Roger nodded thoughtfully. It was only when they paused their conversation did he notice that Henrik had hardly offered any opinions throughout.
He turned his head and heard a suppressed panting. Henrik clenched his fists, a struggle flickered in his eyes, as if he was strenuously resisting something!
A bad thought came to mind.
“To leave this neutral world, could it be…”
The next second, a frenzied beastly roar sounded, and sharp claws shot out, lunging at Goway who was closest to him!
“Watch out!”
Henrik was tall and long-limbed, it was too late for Roger to rush in now. At the critical moment, he kicked Henrik’s knee.
Crack!
The pain in the joint made Henrik recoil, his attack went wildly off target, and Goway seized the opportunity to distance herself from him. Roger wasn’t taking any chances–he leaped and kicked Henrik in the face!
But just as his foot struck Henrik’s head, Roger’s face drastically changed, the delicate ear was incredibly hard, the Henrik in front of him was several times stronger than the beast he had just killed!
This was no longer a creature that could be contended with by skill alone.
More importantly, Roger knew that within this monster’s body hid Henrik’s soul–if he were to kill him…
“Calm down!”
Roger bellowed, summoning all his strength. Henrik was already unsteady, and now, being pushed sideways, his massive body uncontrollably toppled over, crashing from the second floor down the stairs.
Meanwhile, Goway was not idle; from her throat came a melodious tune.
“Steady your breath, focus your mind to resist the instincts inside you, that thing is not stronger than you!” she loudly reminded.
Henrik roared, smashing everything he could reach before him.
He was panting, his eyes blood-red.
“Get out of here, get out now!”
“This power is growing, I’m losing control.”
