Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 395 - Chapter 395 Chapter 395 Giving You a Rose
Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Giving You a Rose Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Giving You a Rose “Cough cough.”
Seeing the two walk away, Henrik feigned a cough.
“What do you think Roger is going to show Goway that he has to hide it from the two of us?”
Henrik looked puzzled.
Without lifting her head, Veronica replied, “If you’re so curious, you can follow them and find out.”
After weighing their strengths, Henrik reluctantly abandoned the idea.
“This place is desolate, and the palaces around here are totally in ruins; there’s not even a place to rest.”
Henrik stroked the stubble on his chin, “When we came in, I didn’t see Roger hiding anything on him.”
On the other hand, after having walked some distance with Roger, Goway’s expression began to grow uncomfortable.
“Hey, Roger, where are you taking me?”
Goway felt her heartbeat inexplicably quicken.
“We’re almost there,” Roger said without turning back.
“I have something I want to give you, but I’m not quite certain…” Roger trailed off hesitantly, “Anyway, you’ll see for yourself in a little while!”
This should be the place.
Roger looked around, “I need your help to prop up the area below; the thing is hidden inside.”
Goway, still puzzled, nonetheless followed Roger’s instructions and cast a spell. Thick vines emerged from the ground and propped up the broken walls and columns.
At the bottom of the collapsed ruins, a rose as vibrant as fire quietly bloomed.
Goway’s cheeks turned red, and her whole demeanor became visibly uncomfortable.
“What do you think, do you like it?”
Roger asked.
“Shameless!” Goway huffed coldly.
“You really do have ulterior motives towards me!”
“You’d be better off directing such thoughts towards Veronika–as I’m sure he would love to receive a rose from you.”
Goway tried to make her expression colder, yet the blush on her cheeks added an adorable quality to the girl in that moment.
Seeing the expression on Goway’s face, Roger instantly understood something and shrugged helplessly, smiling wryly.
“Please, I really have no ulterior motives towards you.”
“Do me a favor and take a closer look before you accuse me next time,” Roger said with some exasperation.
By now, Goway had regained her composure. She extended a bit of her spirit and closely observed the rose at the bottom of the ruins.
“Eh?”
“Because of me, you accidentally lost your Companion Treant at Blair’s. I’ve learned about them, and even within the Transcendent World, they are extremely valuable.”
“The one you lost had been carefully cultivated for many years, I presume it was to help you break through the Third Tier.”
“To be honest, I couldn’t think of anything else that could compensate you at the moment.”
“Moreover, such things are truly rare; this rose here is the only Transcendent species I can think of that’s somewhat similar to Companion Treants.”
“It’s just that this thing requires a long time to cultivate, and it might cost you a great deal of time and energy.”
Crackle and Snap!
Goway controlled the vines to clear the area; she slowly walked to the bottom of the pit and gently touched the petals of the rose with a fingertip.
She closed her eyes, establishing a special connection between herself and the plant.
Before long, she opened her eyes.
“This thing is too precious!”
“It is several tiers higher than the Companion Treant I lost, a Transcendent species that even has the potential to evolve to the Fourth Tier!”
“It’s incredible!”
“It’s already a separate life!”
Roger was pleased as well.
“So, this thing is of use to you?”
Goway nodded, “Are you really sure you want to give this to me?”
“Why not?”
“I think you should be clear that the monsters killed in the fairytale manuscripts won’t yield any organs or tissues.”
“Not only that, but you also can’t take any plants that grow here out of this world.”
“Everything that happens here, whether it’s people or objects, is like a dream, and dreams are illusory.”
Roger nodded.
It was indeed as Goway had said, from Little Red Riding Hood to the present, he had collected three manuscripts, and he had killed some monsters in the worlds of these manuscripts.
Especially in Sleeping Valley.
Unfortunately, even though he could obtain some organs from the monsters, no matter what he tried, he couldn’t take those things out of this world.
On reflection, that made complete sense.
If one could actually change the course of the stories in the manuscripts and take away the organs of the monsters killed, then with enough manuscripts, one could obtain an unlimited supply of Transcendent Materials.
That was clearly impossible, and it would violate the normal laws of the world’s development.
“There must be a way, right?”
Roger asked.
“There is, but the cost is significant,” Goway nodded.
“I’m not sure what has happened here, but this rose obviously is the key to this manuscript, and it might even be considered something like the core of the Cursed World.”
“If I really take this rose away, I think it won’t be long before this world collapses.”
She turned to look at Roger.
“Even so, are you willing to give this to me?”
Roger shrugged indifferently.
“Of course.”
“This is meant to compensate you.”
“But do you realize the value of this thing? If you put it up for public auction, it could fetch…”
Roger waved his hand nonchalantly, “Maybe you shouldn’t say it, because I’m afraid I’ll change my mind after hearing it.”
“From now on, this belongs to you, you just need to tell me how to get it out of this world for you?”
Goway’s expression changed; she seemed to want to refuse, yet also wanted to agree.
Just then, Roger stepped forward and grasped Goway’s hand.
“No need to hesitate anymore, I’ve said the item is yours from now on.”
“Let’s go, if we return too late, Henrik will probably worry too much.”
Goway blinked, seemingly not quite understanding the correlation between the duration of their return and Henrik’s thoughts.
But she nodded vigorously.
“Thank you, Roger, if this were in Grace…”
“I need to become strong now so that I can determine my own and my family’s fate!”
“This item is far more powerful than the Companion Treants I’ve lost, anyway, I owe you a favor!”
Goway made her promise solemnly.
“It’s settled then.” Roger smiled mischievously as he sized up Goway, “I think I should really make use of this opportunity…”
His face deliberately showed a significant grin, “Hmm, can wait a little longer, a few more years would be just perfect!”
“You…!”
Goway saw the implication in Roger’s eyes and glared at him furiously, not realizing that her mood had improved a lot compared to before she came out.
Alright, one psychological trauma had been resolved, and another physical one awaited her comfort.
Ignoring Henrik’s inquiring gaze, at daybreak everyone left Sleeping Valley and returned to the real world, with Stephen immediately calling Edward.
But as soon as the call connected, he received news that utterly shocked him.
“What did you say?”
Stephen’s voice rose, “Edward’s been in a car accident and died?!”
A middle-aged woman’s voice came through the phone, “Are you a friend of Edward’s?”
“This happened over a month ago.”
