Defying the Rogue Alpha -
Chapter 186: patience
Chapter 186: patience
Ava settled over him, straddling him slowly, her knees pressing into the mattress on either side of his hips. She moved with measured patience, her eyes never breaking from his as she sandwiched him between her thighs. The connection between them was magnetic, warm, impossible to ignore.
"I’m sorry, Big Man," she murmured sultrily and slid herself down on him. She reached out, placing her hands on his shoulders, feeling the familiar tension of muscle beneath her palms. She loved how he felt; solid, safe, hers.
"If you do a good job, I’ll consider forgiving you," he replied, trying to hold back a groan, his hands sliding to her hips. He wasn’t as immune to her as he pretended to be. Not even close.
Ava began to move, gently and slowly, her rhythm unhurried as if savoring every second. Her touch was a whispered apology. "I love you, Alpha Lucas Raventhorn," she said.
Lucas clenched his jaw, his hands gripping her a little tighter. His heart, that battle-scarred muscle, swelled at her words. Somehow, even when she was being bratty, even when she was threatening to throttle him with her fury, she still knew how to reach inside him and touch the parts no one else dared.
"Is that all I am to you? Your Alpha?" he ground out. He needed to know...needed to hear that she didn’t just love the title, but the man who bore it.
Ava leaned in, pressing a kiss to his neck, her breath hot against his skin. "My husband..." she moaned.
"Uhn uhn..." he said, lips twitching at her attempt to appease him.
"My king..." she breathed again, her pace matching the steady thump of his heart beneath her.
"Yeah?" His head tilted back, a groan escaping his throat as he drank in her devotion.
"My mate..."
Those two words. When they left her lips, Lucas lost all sense of control.
"Well, fuck!" he growled, and in one swift motion, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly in place as he took the lead, his movements sudden, urgent, driven by more than just need. He wasn’t just chasing pleasure, he was chasing the reassurance that they were okay, that she was his, truly and always.
And behind the stars bursting behind his eyes, behind the rough breaths and trembling hands, was a love so fierce it scared even him.
Ava bounced above him, gripping the headboard. Her cries tore through the room, raw and reverberating, her body trembling in the aftershocks of pleasure.
Lucas wasn’t far behind, his breath catching in his throat before he collapsed back into the mattress, thoroughly spent. He blinked up at the ceiling. "Okay...I forgive you," he panted. "Can we fight again soon?"
Ava burst out laughing, collapsing forward onto his chest, her hair falling around them. "You’re so adorable," she whispered between soft gasps.
He frowned dramatically. "Take that back."
"No one’s here. Your fearsome Alpha reputation remains intact," she teased, poking at his bare chest.
Lucas grunted. "Good. Just checking. I’ve got an image to uphold, you know."
Ava reached up to brush her fingers along his jaw. "I love you, Lucas Raventhorn. Don’t you ever forget that."
"Never," he said, catching her hand and pressing a kiss to her palm. "I love you too, Ava. Always."
She grew quiet for a moment, her eyes searching his. "Promise me something."
"I’d give you my life," he said instantly, without hesitation.
"Don’t abuse your powers," she said softly. Her tone was not accusatory, but pleading, layered with worry.
Lucas shifted. "I’ll do you one better," he said seriously, brushing a stray curl behind her ear. "I promise never to use them."
Ava exhaled, a quiet sigh of relief and gratitude. She smiled and kissed him, long and deep, pouring all the things she couldn’t say aloud into that single moment. When their lips parted, she rested her forehead against his.
She settled down into his length once more. Sealing his promise, the only way they knew how. Lucas groaned and quickly took her night dress over her arms, discarding it on the floor. He kissed her neck hungrily, wanting more and more of her.
He whispered into her hair, "You’re everything, Ava."
He grabbed her breasts in his hands, squeezing gently.
Ava’s mouth shaped into an ’o’ but she didn’t stop her dance on him. Her breath hitched, and her brows pinched together in bliss. Every rise and fall of her body was a slow, torturous tease. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she knew the effect it had. Beneath her, Lucas’s head pressed back against the pillow, caught between torment and ecstasy.
He pinched her nipples, and the sharp sensation sent her spine arching with a loud moan that probably woke up the ancestors.
"You like that, don’t you?" he smirked.
Ava nodded, biting her lower lip like it was the only thing keeping her from exploding. Her movements then changed. She dropped and ground into him, the friction delicious and maddening all at once. Her eyes half-closed, lost in sensation, while his were wide open, watching her like she was art he couldn’t stop touching.
"Ah! Fuck that dick, baby! Go on girl! Fuck!" Lucas became suddenly very generous with the cussing.
He sounded like a man both worshipping and losing his mind at the altar of her body. His voice turned into a series of growls and groans, occasionally punctuated by half-formed words and frantic exclamations that didn’t need context to be understood.
She kept going until everything between them was wet and sloppy, the unmistakable result of two people too far gone to care about grace. It was raw and unfiltered, passion poured into movement and sound. Her nails dug into Lucas’s back, marking him, claiming him.
Lucas pulled her hard into him, locking her in place as though afraid the stars she had conjured would escape. He groaned against her neck, body shaking as he pulsed and released inside her, trembling.

A few days later, in the east, the news was everywhere. It spread like wildfire, whispered in fear and awe. Alpha Lucas submitted King Herod to kill himself, and the world took notice. The shockwaves reached far and wide, eventually landing at the feet of Alpha Leon.
He sat in his office, unmoving, as his newly appointed beta, Nerris, relayed the story.
"Are we going to wait until he returns and submits the rest of us?" Nerris asked. "He was already a brutal alpha, add these new powers and he will go nuclear. He can do anything."
Leon didn’t answer immediately. He just sat, staring into the void like it had the answers to the world. His jaw ticked once. Twice. He’d known Lucas for years. A wild dog. A loyal beast. A man born to protect but also born to destroy if left unchecked.
And now, he had a god’s whisper on his tongue.
Commanding a man to kill himself, knowing he had no choice but to obey, it wasn’t just cruel. It was monstrous. It was so far beyond ordinary savagery. Leon shuddered. He’d seen brutality but this was on a whole other plane of psychopathy.
His thoughts drifted back to Alaric. Alaric had warned him, hadn’t he?
Now, it didn’t seem so silly.
Leon swallowed as the reality of it unfurled before him. Lucas could literally waltz into the Crimson Pack’s grounds tomorrow and command his own people to turn against him. Who would stop him? No one. Not a single blessed soul.
Because how do you stop a man who can command obedience with a single word?
Lucas Raventhorn couldn’t be allowed to wield such terrifying power. Not as an alpha. And especially not as this kind of alpha, vengeful, volatile, and terrifyingly unpredictable.
"Ava wouldn’t let him be that kind of man," he said aloud, more to himself than to anyone else. Despite everything Ava had been through, she remained kind. If anyone could keep Lucas from going full tyrant overlord, it was her.
"She’s the balance," Leon muttered. "His... moral seatbelt."
Nerris scoffed, "And what can she do?"
Word around the packs was that Ava had been furious when she found out. But what could she do? He was bound to her, yes. But she couldn’t control him.
Leon sighed, rubbing his temples. He remembered Lucas already scary as hell. He didn’t speak much, but when he did, wolves obeyed, men trembled, and women inexplicably fanned themselves.
Now? With this power?
Not even the Moon Goddess herself could slap him into line.
Leon had known the contract was a gamble from the start. Truce in exchange for Ava. But when Lucas had named Ava as his Luna, , Leon thought for one blissful, naive moment, that maybe, just maybe, they were safe.
And to be fair, Lucas had helped.
He’d dealt with Leon’s traitorous beta. His mad wife and her father had both been handled with... disturbing efficiency. Lucas had helped him clean house.
So, yes, Leon wanted to believe they were safe.
(Leon wanting to flex his little pea sized brain. Lmao)
