Defying the Rogue Alpha -
Chapter 135: Dog
Chapter 135: Dog
"Stop being such a horn dog!" she said, though her giggles betrayed her scolding.
"Too late. Bone’s already summoned," he took her hand and placed it on his hard on.
Ava turned to face him fully, her hands on his chest, biting her lip to stifle a laugh. "You’re the worst."
Lucas kissed her with a hunger that had been simmering all night, one hand tangled in her hair, the other gripping her butt. His groan was low, the sound of a man who had been barely holding it together while watching his mate tease him senseless on the dance floor. He wasn’t going to make it home, that much was clear. He needed her now.
His eyes burned with mischief and unfiltered desire as he grabbed her hand with a possessive kind of urgency. "Come on!"
Ava stumbled behind him, laughing breathlessly, caught somewhere between scandalized and turned on. "Lucas! The party was thrown in my honor! I can’t just leave in the middle of it!"
Lucas didn’t slow down, weaving her through the crowd. "They’ll barely notice your absence. I, on the other hand..." He opened a side door and ushered her into a hallway with rows of doors. He selected the room reserved for the alpha and opened the door. His eyes darkened as he closed the door behind them. "I’m in desperate need of your presence, your very naked presence."
Before she could argue or sass him with some witty comeback, he crushed his mouth against hers, silencing her with raw affection. His kiss was possessive, an Alpha’s claim spoken through touch and need. Ava melted into it, her fingers tangling in the collar of his shirt, trying to remember what her argument even was.
Lucas walked her backwards until the back of her knees hit the bed. He gently pushed her to sit, then leaned over her, his body a firm wall of strength and warmth as he hovered just inches above her.
His gaze searched hers, burning with want.
"You drive me crazy, you know that?" he whispered, brushing her hair away from her cheek, his thumb tracing her bottom lip. "I can’t take my eyes off you. I don’t want to take my eyes off you."
Ava smiled, cupping his cheek with one hand. "You say the sweetest things when you are horny."
"True." He kissed her again, slower this time. "Every inch of you is mine."
She giggled, the sound soft and heady as her hands slipped beneath his shirt. "Well then, Alpha... come claim your territory."
That was all the permission he needed.
He leaned in, covering her with his body, wrapping them both in warmth and shadows. The music from the party played softly in the background.
The sudden knock on the door ripped through the post-coital fog.
Lucas let out a guttural growl, his face buried in the curve of Ava’s neck, refusing to let reality intrude. His fingers, warm and lazy, traced soft circles along her breast as if he could distract both of them into pretending the outside world didn’t exist.
Another knock followed, louder this time. More insistent.
"Alpha... it’s me," Nolan’s voice called through the door, slightly muffled but still irritatingly clear.
Lucas clenched his jaw. "Nolan, unless you have a death wish, you will get your sorry self away from that door and never return."
Ava blinked up at him, eyebrows raised, torn between laughter and irritation. "He sounds worried," she whispered, already starting to sit up.
Lucas sighed, clearly betrayed by her sense of duty. "He always sounds worried. That’s just his voice."
"Alpha... I just received word from the fortress," Nolan pressed on. "The High Council is here. They’ve arrived."
Lucas and Ava froze, their bodies going stiff.
Lucas was aggravated. Of all the nights they could show up, they chose this one. Post-orgasm. Okay, maybe there wasn’t really any appropriate night, they did have sex like every night but still. Nolan could have waited a bit more. The annoying council can wait, right. But knowing Ava, there wasn’t going to be a continuation of the action. Damnit!
Lucas sat up, his face shifting instantly from sultry alpha lover to calculating leader. "Great," he muttered.
"You stay here," he added firmly, not even looking at Ava or he could still change his mind and stay a few more minutes. "Let me handle them."
Ava arched an eyebrow. "Like hell I am."
He paused, glancing over his shoulder. "Ava..."
"We don’t know what they want, true. But whatever it is, I’m not hiding from it. I’m not the girl who showed up here hoping someone else would fix things anymore. You made me your Luna. That means something."
He sighed, ran both hands through his hair and then nodded once. "Fine. But if they look at you wrong, I’m ripping their throats out."
"Fair."

Three men sat in the conference room waiting. Eryx she recognized immediately.
The other two were unfamiliar.
"Alpha Lucas," Eryx said. "Luna Ava. Thank you for receiving us."
"You lot couldn’t wait till morning, could you?" Lucas grumbled as he settled heavily into the chair at the head of the long mahogany table, the wood groaning under the weight of his irritation. He leaned back. "Your assignment here must be incredibly important to ruin my night like this.?"
Ava sat beside him, back straight, jaw tight, arms folded across her chest. She wasn’t even trying to mask her glare. It was locked on Eryx with laser focus.
One of the unfamiliar councilmen cleared his throat and attempted to conjure what he clearly believed was a charming smile. "I am Councilman Thorne," he began. "We heard about your visit to the High Council and thought it only fair to return the favour."
Lucas tilted his head slightly. "Which part of my visit are you here to address? The part where I told you the Alpha King was going to make a move on the East or the part about my Luna being the daughter of the moon?"
