Chapter 4686: Chapter 3762: Doomsday (18)

"I always feel something’s not right," said the Skrull Emperor over the channel, "I know Earth, they wouldn’t give up the moon so easily. If they’ve planted some kind of explosive inside, it could cause significant damage."

"I don’t care!" Lilandra said, "No matter what’s inside, as long as the yield is large enough, destroy it all together. Ready the cannons!"

The Skrull Emperor said nothing more. The Supreme Wisdom never offered any advice either. In truth, they wanted to use the Shi’ar Empire to measure the depth of the human race, to figure out what kind of tricks they’re really up to.

"General Vetus! Relay my orders; now charge the main cannons of all Double God-level battleships to the highest level and fire together at the same time. Make sure to destroy the satellite ahead immediately!"

"Yes, Your Majesty. Zzz...Zzz..."

"Hello? General? Is there any interference on your side? Why is there a buzzing sound? Hello???

Four Double God-level battleships slowly moved toward the moon, turning to expose the muzzles of their main cannons. As dazzling lights illuminated, the main cannons began charging to their highest capacity.

Three, two, one...

The light suddenly brightened. But the tiny satellite surrounded by the massive battleships was not destroyed as everyone had expected. Screams echoed around the moon.

At the moment the main cannons fired, the four battleships swiftly turned, aiming not at the satellite but at the surrounding fleet. Four shots rang out, causing widespread devastation around them.

"Professor X!" The Skrull Emperor almost slammed the table as he said, "I knew it wouldn’t be that simple! That guy has controlled the brainwaves of the Shi’ar Empire people... No, wait, what’s going on?"

"The crew of the four battleships are committing suicide," said the Supreme Wisdom, "It’s not Professor X. I specifically deployed brainwave detection and shielding devices. Whether it’s Earth or the moon, there are no abnormal brainwave activities. Instead..."

"Instead, what?"

"When we first arrived, one of the warships seemed off. The brainwave activities of the Shi’ar Empire crew inside were abnormal."

"What kind of abnormal?"

"I can’t describe it, but it was chaotic and bizarre, almost like a mental attack. And almost instantly, everyone mutated."

"Mutated?" The Skrull Emperor frowned deeply, saying, "Could it be that Earthlings released some virus inside? But how did they get past the shield and detection systems?"

"They probably don’t need to bypass the shield and detection systems..."

As the Supreme Wisdom finished speaking, the Skrull Emperor heard a report from a subordinate behind him: "Your Majesty, we’ve detected abnormal electronic signal activities near the Shi’ar Empire fleet. It’s suspected that someone has invaded the Shi’ar Empire fleet’s command system, potentially a powerful electronic lifeform."

"Could it be that Iron Demon God," the Skrull Emperor pondered, then hesitated, "But how could electronic intrusion lead the crew to commit suicide?"

"Your Majesty!" Another communicator rushed in, saying, "A segment of emergency black box video was just transmitted from the Shi’ar Empire spaceship. Should we play it?"

"Are you crazy?" Another one hurriedly intervened, "What if there’s some contamination... Your Majesty, let us check it first, if there’s no issue, then we’ll ask for your review."

The Skrull Emperor did not refuse. To be honest, they were indeed a bit afraid of the human race’s ever-emerging strange methods.

Two communicators watched the video, then handed it over to the Skrull Emperor, saying, "We just watched it, and there were no abnormal phenomena in the video, it only showed the Shi’ar Empire people."

Due to mechanized modifications, the Skrull Empire and Kree Empire can’t have any traitors. Just like a machine’s gears have no need to betray screws. So the Skrull Emperor accepted the video and began playing it.

In the video, several commanders of the Shi’ar Empire were discussing the issue regarding the moon. Then they suddenly looked up, as if some kind of alarm sounded. Immediately, some strange texts appeared on their screen, and some sounds began broadcasting over the network.

Then, the Shi’ar Empire commanders seemed as if struck by some invisible force, clutching their heads, rolling painfully on the ground. Blood started to pour from their eyes and ears. Some people’s eyeballs exploded, while others had brain matter oozing directly from their ears, and some screamed wildly in madness. Before long, they all fell to the ground.

Even though the Skrull Emperor had seen many grand scenes, this bizarre sight made him feel a bit uneasy. But when he glanced at the two communicators, he noticed nothing unusual about them. He suspected this might be some kind of Curse aimed at the Shi’ar Empire.

He rewound the video a little, then carefully watched the content on the screen. He discovered it was actually written in Human text. From the actions of several commanders, it was clear they were also translating it.

The Skrull Emperor also did some translating. Most of it was mad gibberish, but the one phrase he could understand was "Soul Transmission."

The Supreme Wisdom clearly also received this signal. He looked even more bewildered. After all, the Skrull Emperor is still something of a carbon-based lifeform. The Supreme Wisdom is purely electronic. As it goes, electronic life and chaos-like entities are completely opposite and naturally antagonistic.

However, the Supreme Wisdom evidently also realized that this was some kind of Curse. Just as he was about to warn Lilandra, he saw a ship on the Shi’ar Empire’s side, and its main cannon began charging. Then, it fired at its own kind nearby. Another two escort ships seemed to collide with the main ship suicidally. Meanwhile, two battleships on the periphery went madly rampaging across the cosmos.

Apparently, the Shi’ar Empire had also intercepted this signal.

"It’s a trap," the Skrull Emperor said, his tone somewhat heavy. "They deliberately released this signal to spread a Curse. However, I still feel it cannot be that simple. The Shi’ar Empire can resurrect, so this poses little threat to them. The disruption effect is there, but it’s not enough to cause significant harm. Humans must have another agenda."

Everyone turned their attention to the situation with the Shi’ar Empire. By the time they noticed something was amiss with the Moon, it was too late.

If there were no craters, the Moon would just be a bland grey planet. But the undulating Ring Mountains give the moon’s surface a variegated color. It looks both more beautiful and more eerie.

The observer watching the Moon quietly admired the small satellite, recalling the textbook descriptions of the Earth-Moon System. He sighed regretfully; perhaps he would never see such a beautiful satellite again.

He stared at the Ring Mountain a bit longer. Just as he was about to leave the telescope, he suddenly noticed, did the Ring Mountain on the left move?

He looked closely and instantly felt his scalp tingle. Not just that one; all the undulating craters began to twist and writhe like masses of grey sludge. He zoomed in further to see what exactly was moving. But he found the writhing grey-black mass was a sea of disembodied heads.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!"

"Shut up, what’s all the yelling for!" a big guy in armor impatiently knocked on the door of the observation station, "What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you got shocked again?... Agri, Agri??"

Realizing something was wrong, the big guy quickly pulled the emergency lever and opened the door. Then, he saw that his former colleague’s head was gone, leaving behind a bloody corpse and a vertebra stained with blood.

He slowly stepped forward, seemingly seeing his colleague still looking through the telescope at something. Compelled by some unknown force, he approached it. On the telescope’s screen, he beheld the Moon’s surging muddy sea. Among countless drifting heads, Agri’s head slowly rose, its hollow and numb gaze fixed on him.

"Ugh!!!!"

When the Supreme Wisdom and the Skrull Emperor discovered the issue, their two nations had already accumulated dozens of headless corpses each. The Skrull Emperor couldn’t help but curse, "What the hell are you guys doing?! Such a small satellite shows anomalies, and you can’t even report it in time?"

"Sorry, Your Majesty..." a researcher stepped forward and said, "It seems the Shi’ar Empire’s Curse summoned something. It somewhat resembles a Demon God and appears to hunt sentient beings’ heads. We temporarily call it the ’Headhunter.’ We are preparing to use global coverage weapons to try and eliminate it..."

"Hurry up!" the Skrull Emperor said, "Since it’s a Demon God, use the traditional methods we’ve used before. Get rid of that thing first!"

Soon, a triangular bomb emitting a faint blue light was dropped on the Moon’s surface. A powerful electromagnetic storm covered the entire satellite, sweeping over it a dozen times before finally stopping. Under extreme temperatures, the Moon’s surface nearly crystallized. However, the sea of heads did not disappear.

It was as if it didn’t exist in reality but was merely a collective illusion instead. Subsequent physical measures proved ineffective. Even when the Shi’ar Empire sent people to use Magic, they had no way of removing it.

At this time, there was also unrest emerging on Earth’s side.

"I suppose you’re all very curious," a line of large text appeared on the surface of the Magical Defense Network, "Please allow me to formally introduce—The Thousand-faced Moon Hydra. An Outer God residing in the depths of the Stars. You might think it’s one of the Cosmic Sorcerers. But no, it’s entirely different. If you were to ask which one of our cosmos’s Demon Gods is most closely related to it, I would say the infamous ’Eye Demon.’ You may better understand its Unique nature."

The Skrull Emperor looked at the text on Earth’s surface and immediately had someone retrieve the materials about the Eye Demon. Then, he discovered that the Eye Demon was indeed different from usual Demon Gods, as if they existed in another dimension, and this place was just their projection. This didn’t hinder them from exerting power, but any counterattack couldn’t impact their true form.

Next, another line appeared on Earth: "You surely want to know how to deal with Hydra. I’m sorry to inform you that once enough sacrifices are gathered, Hydra will appear. Without hunting enough heads, it will never leave. Enjoy the game ^_^"
