Chapter 33: 31. Battle of the Genders in the Sports Equipment Room (1)
The time was around 4 p.m. on a Monday in May when the sports equipment room would normally see people coming in and out.
It might be the soccer team, the track and field club, or the basketball team—members from any sports club might be around.
Boys and girls together lifted a basket filled with basketballs; a female manager checked the soccer ball inventory with a male team member; members of the track and field club horsed around with a starter pistol...
No such scenes took place today; this was the stage where Dubian Che was getting a beating.
"Actually, I’m quite the fighter," said the handsome young man lying on the ground.
"How so?" asked the noble girl looking down at him with a dismissive smile.
The boy looked at the "female robot" in a suit standing beside the girl, "Beating her wouldn’t be a problem."
This remark appeared so ridiculous that the sports equipment room fell silent in an instant. Sunlight streamed in through the narrow windows, with dust floating in the column of light.
Jiutiao Meijie, with the back of her right hand covering her mouth, burst into loud laughter.
She took a deep sigh, suppressed her amusement, and said, "Alright then, I’ll let you fight her. If you lose, you’ll be beaten to death; if you win, Miss Jiutiao will reluctantly spare your life for a few days."
"It’s a deal."
"You’re quite confident, aren’t you?" Jiutiao Meijie stepped back a few paces, and her subordinates brought over a stool.
She sat down on the stool, stretching out her long legs, "Shizuru, no need to hold back."
"Understood."
Shizuru put medicine into a box and tucked it into the breast pocket of her suit, eyeing Dubian Che who was lying on the ground.
Dubian Che, bracing himself with one hand on his knee and pressing the other on his still-aching stomach, got up.
"Miss Jiutiao, may I also not hold back?" he asked.
"As you wish."
Dubian Che looked at Shizuru, the "female robot" who, since the beginning, had been utterly expressionless and hadn’t paid him any mind.
"I know you look down on me, but don’t think you are the only one; I look down on myself too," Dubian Che said as he took off his school blazer and threw it onto a box used for the high jump.
He had been training diligently lately and his physical fitness had improved a bit, yet his power level had not increased to 4, still at 3.
If a Saiyan like Raditz landed on Earth and the first person he encountered was him, Dubian Che, he’d have to apologize to all of humanity—for singlehandedly bringing down the average power level by two whole points.
"However, let me warn everyone," he loosened his tie and unfastened the buttons, revealing his gaunt collarbone, "you may look down on the Dubian Che of the past, but you absolutely cannot underestimate me now. ’Tokyo’s Handsome Guy’ stands at the summit."
’Exchange for Grandmaster Level "Free Combat"’
[Consuming 100,000 points]
[Player has acquired ’Free Combat (Grandmaster Level)’]
"Are you trying to die laughing?" Jiutiao Meijie yawned, "Let’s begin, I’m getting sleepy."
Shizuru walked over leisurely; she stood so straight that it was as if she had a washboard strapped to her back.
The dust particles in the beam of light were stirred up by the air currents caused by her walk, spreading and then coalescing like the sea.
Dubian Che was fully focused.
The fight started with Shizuru’s strike—a straight punch so quick it was ridiculous.
In the past, Dubian Che would have been knocked down immediately, but now a slight tilt of the head allowed him to dodge it easily, and he countered with an uppercut.
Shizuru didn’t dodge; her other hand caught Dubian Che’s fist as if about to twist it into a "pretzel."
Dubian Che turned his body, his leg whip kicking up the dust in the air as it aimed for his opponent’s lower body.
Shizuru’s expression shifted slightly as she lifted her foot to block the dirty kick, and the two of them took the opportunity to back away a few steps.
She had underestimated Dubian Che, never expecting him to fight back.
If she had her mindset straight, Dubian Che’s roundhouse kick wouldn’t have forced her back—no, from the beginning, she wouldn’t have used a simple straight punch.
"What’s going on?" Shizuru frowned.
"What do you mean, ’what’s going on’?" Dubian Che felt an intense pain in his foot.
Her physical strength was far superior to his. He estimated he would be knocked down in just two or three hits—he had to think of a strategy.
"You shouldn’t have been able to dodge my punch, let alone have such agility."
"Since we met, you’ve thrown five punches. As a man of the Jiutiaos, I wouldn’t be defeated by the same move five times." Dubian Che glanced at the chalk powder in the corner, which was used for lining the field and track.
The phrase "a man of the Jiutiaos" made everyone, except for Jiutiao Meijie, raise an eyebrow.
"No one has such natural talent. The first time I met you, you were nothing but trash. What’s going on?" More than killing Dubian Che, Shizuru cared about this.
"That’s really rude!"
Dubian Che darted forward, grabbing a handful of chalk powder and tossing it at Shizuru.
Shizuru’s face changed, and she quickly raised her arms to shield her eyes while her body swiftly moved, leaving her original spot without delay.
Her decision was the right one.
Because right after that, basketballs, soccer balls, shot puts, table tennis paddles, iron buckets, and more arced through the air like a rainbow between them.
Although Shizuru was annoyed, she wasn’t hurt. In contrast, Jiutiao Meijie frowned at the cloudy air, displeased.
"I’ll kill you with chalk directly."
Dubian Che didn’t cry out about the unfairness.
The situation was dire; he could only view this as them using dishonorable means to limit his strength.
He tossed the chalk he had just grabbed aside and hid behind a pile of equipment, taking a stance that if Shizuru didn’t charge at him, he wouldn’t make a move.
Shizuru walked over slowly; in her eyes, Dubian Che was nothing but trash, similar to a suckling pig stuck in a pigpen.
She only needed to walk over slowly and a casual kick would do the job.
Five seconds later, they stood face to face.
Although Jiutiao Meijie had said there was no need for mercy, Shizuru wondered whether she should really kick Dubian Che to death.
At that moment, Dubian Che suddenly smiled.
It was a magical smile, one that brought joy and fascination.
People would fall for the boy’s lips because of this smile, for his nose, for his eyes, and eventually for the boy himself.
It was inconceivable, illogical, like the person you love showing an irresistible preference for you.
[Smile·Charming·Gentle]
No woman could resist that smile; if any could, a little more charm should be added; if any still could, disregard my previous statement.
Fortunately, Shizuru was an exception. The smile, enhanced with a double dose of charm, made her space out.
In that moment, Dubian Che swung his fist at her temple.
By then, Raditz’s power level detector would have soared from three points to six—surely she would be greatly shocked?
Scaring a Saiyan, Dubian Che felt he was really something!
Unfortunately, Shizuru didn’t have a power level detector, and she showed no surprise as a professional assassin and bodyguard coming back to her senses at the last moment.
Although she couldn’t dodge the strike, which had a remarkable power of six points, she managed to avoid the temple. Her gum bled from the punch, and her face swelled up a bit.
Angry, she didn’t think twice before kicking full force at Dubian Che’s waist.
