Date a Witch: Reborn as the Witch of Lust! (GL)
Chapter 49: Here, Greed Spoke... (As I was stroking Lila’s Thigh)

Chapter 49: Here, Greed Spoke... (As I was stroking Lila’s Thigh)

The morning arrived with Mel greeting an expected, yet a momentous sight.

She sat on the edge of the bed, clutching the bedsheet as she stared at Lila, who fidgeted under her gaze.

"How... how do I look?"

Mel gulped, before glancing down at the academy uniform. Lila was dressed in a tailored suit with a green buttoned tunic that matched her emerald eyes.

The large red ribbon sat at her collar, amplifying the high-school feel reminiscent of her old times.

She took a deep breath, before uttering. "It is way, way too cute."

Especially the way the uniform tightened across your chest. Mel almost said it, but held back: saying it out loud would ruin the moment.

A familiar blush spread across Lila’s cheek. "Th-thanks... you should be dressed too."

"Of course!" Mel lept up from the bed, before smirking mischievously. "Hey. Should I switch clothes here or-"

"In the bathroom, please."

"Aw..." Mel hunched her shoulders in ’regret’. "Don’t be dishonest... you have never once seen me naked ever since childhood..."

A muffled gasp escaped Lila’s lips. "Tha-that..."

The Witch of Envy hung her head, casting a conflicted glance over Mel’s figure before darting her eyes away.

"That can be... arranged tonight, can’t it?"

Mel’s golden eyes widened slightly, before chuckling. "Alright. I’m looking forward to it as well, my Lila."

"...mm."

[ Envy’s Imagination ran wild! ]

[ Envy favourability: 98 -> 99 ]

The Witch of Lust glimpsed over the panel, recalling how the favourability bursted out of control last time during their heated kiss.

Let’s hope it won’t incite any incident. A slight yet welcomed unease welled up in Mel’s chest as she stepped into the bathroom.

After switching to her own uniform, she and Lila left the room, this time not hand-in-hand in Lila’s perculiar request.

Mel felt a twinge of disappointment and confusion. Even back in the three-exam, Lila was unafraid to hold her hand. What prompted the change now?

At that, she merely received a grumbily glare from Lila, before she stated. "You’ll see when we arrived."

Mel blinked, then her lips curled into a curious smile.

She could ask the System now, but where would the fun be in that? Academy Life was built on wonder and surprise.

And like everyone else, Mel couldn’t help but pray for a little of both.

---------------

In the central area across from the dormitory building stood the central hall - the large, stadium-like structure that once held every examinee for the third exam. Sunlight spilled over the broad wooden floor, casting long shadows on the ground.

Mel stretched her arms in exhaustion as she stared up at the stage. Sitting upright was three rows of teachers, some with battle scars across their face, and some with outfit so tailored they would have been mistaken as royals instead.

At the left end of the first row was her dear Samantha, with eyes closed, her arms and legs crossed as she took a nap, ever the diligent teacher she was.

Mel stifled a mischievous giggle as she pulled Lila toward the center seats. The academy, although strictly embedded in tradition, did not like nobles standing for ceremony they found boring, after all.

"Whew..." Mel plopped on the seat, scanning the crowds of classmates and seniors entering. "Say, Lila. What’s the surprise?"

Her Lila was keeping secrets from her. How naughty. Maybe she should punish her a little in the anticipated shower session tonight?

Licking her lips at the idly thought, Lila who settled besides her clentched her lips. "It is... well, I would rather you witness and ask yourself later."

She peeked at Lila. Her face was flushed, yet there wasn’t a hint of hurt in her expression.

Satisfied it was nothing that harmed them, Mel once again took in her surroundings. Some students glanced over with fearful eyes, yet there were some stares she could judge as... curious? Excited even?

"Feels like we’re the hidden celebrities." Mel mused. She knew her reputation as the ’Pink Demon’ from the Third Princess earlier, but she attracted less fear than she imagined.

Lila murmured, voice barely above a breath. "Because we kinda are now. Kinda..."

The Witch of Envy contemplated telling Mel, but the situation was too bizarre, too goosebump-inducing that she wished to dig her head into a hole.

Mel watched as Lila covered her burning cheeks with both palms as if to hide herself, before sighing.

Partner, come on...reveal the mystery! Is it what I think it is?

[ ...I only have one answer. ]

Hm?

[ Congratulation on Host and Envy setting the first example in this World! I know my Policy change is worth the effort! ]

Ah... Mel exclaimed in her heart. She had already stirred up more trouble than expected on her first day.

By the time the seats were filled, the headmaster finally came to start the Entrance Ceremony with a long speech.

The Witch of Lust yawned, idly stroking Lila’s shuddering yet willing thigh, her golden eyes drifting to the Principal’s stern silver gaze, long white beard, and grey wizard robe.

He looked surprisingly ordinary and typical. Mel pondered this as one of the ten Archon-ranked figures stepped down from the stage.

Then came the much anticipated Freshman speech. But to Mel’s surprise, the ceremony’s host, a girl with short-bob, violet hair, announced.

"Due to an unexpected health issue, Calina Forgevein will not be able to attend the speech. Instead, Rosana Winterscourge shall deliver it in her place."

Mel’s eyes darted left and right, guilt flickering across her face as she as she struggled not to burst out laughing. She wondered if she should discreetly offer her some diarrhea medicine later.

But before her anticipation ran wild, a majesty figure strode onto the stage, cladded in a crimson red dress that glid over the ground. Gossips echoed in the silent room as she faced the crowd with a smug, piercing gaze.

And as if unbothered by those who wore uniforms unlike hers, she merely stated. "In the upcoming academy life, there will be three semesters, with six core subjects in total."

Everyone’s murmur was silenced at Rosana’s authoritive voice, the red eyes above them exuding a pressure that pressed against their biased thoughts.

They have all assumed everything about Rosana. ’False Dragoness’. ’Undeserving Heiress’, at least once in their lifetime.

"Naturally, I’ll earn my place at the top of every single subject, in every semester."

Yet now, as Rosana’s voice boomed in the room, no one dared to voice their doubt.

Mel, however, was a bit preoccupied. Lila’s angry fists were raining down. Apparently, her teasing hand had gone a little too far up the skirt.

The students nearby were clearly shifting in their seats, unsure whether to look away or pretend nothing was happening.

As if unaware of their unserious fight, however, Rosana stared at Mel, her eyes curving like an eager predator as Mel chuckled at another grumble from Lila.

"I will own my losses—those from before I was born, and every one since that led me here. So."

Her fist clenched tightly.

For a promise kept.

For a promise forgotten.

For a promise crumbling to ash, like bondust in the wind.

"One more round."

The final declaration was a whisper, too quiet for anyone to hear.

After the unorthodox freshman speech that incited more excited voices than annoyance, the ceremony came to a close after some more formalities.

Afterward, the teachers directed everyone back to their classrooms.

Yet at this moment, Mel and Lila were swarmed, too swarmed with curious students. Some hunching over their chairs, while others blocking their way to the exits.

Mel shifted comfortably at the seats, facing the eyes that glimmered with eagerness. "So, what do you want to know?"

Idly patting the blushing Lila on the head beside her, the one hunching over the seat spoke.

Mel’s eyes widened. She recognised the mushy blue hair and freckles underneath. Wasn’t he the first swordsman she hypnotised right as she entered the exam?

She paused, half-expecting the question that followed.

"Were you two girls dating?"

She chuckled a little as Lila let out a hiccup. It seems a little explanation was needed.
