Chapter 39: 0039 help, please, someone going to kill me!

Michael obtained the initial police report from the officer handling the case, which was the case Lynch reported about a burglary at his residence. The report not only included Lynch’s address and the reason for the report but also some on-site records.

It must be said that the Federal Tax Bureau is quite a coveted department. Michael paid a small favor and not only got to see this report but also saw important evidence that should have been sealed away—the engraved gold ring.

Michael swore on his old head that he had never seen this ring, let alone taken it from Lynch’s room.

This ring was worth at most two or three hundred dollars, so there was no reason to take such a risk for such a small sum. Yet, it not only appeared on his "territory" but was also seized by young Michael at the scene of the crime.

This fool, who didn’t even master the proper way to fence stolen goods, how could he have stolen this ring?

So Michael was even more certain that the nature of the case was a setup, and he immediately went to find Lynch.

He intended to have a good talk with Lynch, but when he saw the guy, an inexplicable rage flared up, almost shattering his reason.

This was the fourth time he had stumbled on the same person, and all within a month, something that had never happened in Michael’s life before.

Not only did it make him angry, but it also made him fearful.

His temperament and character were very bad, but he could still be favored by his superiors not because he was "evil" enough, but because of his capability. Despite many shortcomings, he was definitely a key player at work.

Yet such a proud person had been beaten by a kid who hadn’t even made a name for himself.

Oh no, now Lynch had already become famous, though he himself didn’t know it yet. The "Lynch Method" was officially recognized as a sort of gray area process by more than a dozen departments such as the Federal Tax Bureau, Federal Police Station, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and the Federation itself...

It was more sophisticated, more covert, more uncontrollable, faster, more harmful, and harder to eliminate than the tactics played by previous people.

This was certainly not just some simple trick like exchanging coins. On Lynch’s suggestion, Mr. Fox’s launderette underwent a massive transformation, offering dozens of options categorized by type.

Depending on the type and number of clothes washed, different detergents, fragrances, whether to spin dry or tumble dry, and numerous other options, washing a piece of clothing could cost tens of dollars. If manual intervention was added, it would be even more expensive.

No matter how they achieved such complex options with a non-custom washing machine or whether the clothes inside would be ruined, they managed it and solved some drawbacks without violating any laws, allowing their laundering speed to increase rapidly.

In some sense, Lynch was indeed a talent, albeit a somewhat unconventional one.

Michael couldn’t suppress his fiery temper when facing the guy again. This time, he didn’t back down, glaring fiercely into Lynch’s eyes, "Tell me the truth and the process, or you won’t have a good night tonight."

Lynch smiled, and Michael punched him in the area just above his abdomen, like the last time. The hit caused Lynch’s abdominal and thoracic junction to spasm, and he bent over slightly, taking deep breaths to ease the diaphragm’s twitching.

He spat a mouthful of saliva, and his gaping mouth was filled with saliva caused by diaphragm spasms leading to nausea.

"You better speak up, don’t force me!" Michael was unmoved, his eyeballs turning red.

His son was about to be imprisoned, and his life would be ruined because of this—a child’s whole life was over!

No government department would want someone with a history of burglary for any role, and neither would major groups and consortia, leaving him to struggle at the bottom for life.

His wife was also severely frightened, and he learned more detailed incidents from his wife and doctor. The newspaper boss constantly humiliated her, beat her, and even nearly assaulted her.

Michael found it unimaginable how his treasured wife could withstand all this, let alone remain strong.

Everything was ruined by some people!

The smile disappeared from Lynch’s face as well. The spasm could be deadly painful, and he kept taking heavy, deep breaths to ease the physical pain, his voice changing somewhat as he spoke.

"You could kill me, and they may cover up your small offenses, but they won’t condone or help conceal your deliberate murder," his corner of his mouth slightly lifted with a trace of ridicule, which made Michael even more displeased.

He punched Lynch’s abdomen again, the pain causing Lynch’s entire body to lean against the wall, struggling to stand firm, "Where is the newspaper boss? Were you together that night?"

Lynch froze for a moment, watching the newspaper boss die on the road out of town. He even anticipated that some do-gooder might report it. Didn’t Michael know the newspaper boss was in trouble, or did something else happen?

He guessed right; in fact, not many people are willing to stir up trouble. This wasn’t like seeing an old lady fall but a very obvious murder case with a huge pool of blood on the scene and a thoroughly looted body. No one would want to be targeted for surveillance by the police for someone else’s matter.

The body’s exposure in the wilderness was unlikely because, at this point, the newspaper boss’s body was in a classroom at Sabin City’s medical school.

Someone discovered the body and, not fearing trouble, sold it for $1,500 to Sabin City’s medical school for research.

Eighty-seven percent of Bail Federal people believe in the Lord and that the dead will enter another world. The remaining 13 percent, though not believing in the Lord, believe in other things.

These beliefs have roughly similar doctrines and rules, each with different reasons for maintaining burials, but the goal is the same: to rest in peace before ascending to various ideal worlds.

In such a context, it’s essentially very difficult for medical schools to obtain fresh corpses for research. Sometimes a teaching item could be used for several years without replacement.

It’s not that the medical school doesn’t have the funds to replace, but even with money, there’s nothing to be found. Of course, this also fostered the birth of another profession, which was once popular for a while before disappearing quickly.

This led to the newspaper boss’s death not being officially listed in the death registry across the Federation. In other words, in the eyes of the Sabin City Police Station and other law enforcement departments, the newspaper boss had already fled.

At this moment, neither Lynch nor Michael was aware of this information.

Lynch’s silence fueled Michael’s anger further. Just as he was about to act again, Lynch suddenly cried out for help.

This sudden call for help caught the second-floor pub off guard. It was already nighttime, and the pub was full of those stubborn drunks and trouble-seeking drinkers. They were immediately intrigued while Lynch instead grabbed onto Michael, continuing to shout for help. With footsteps sounding on the stairs and the distant sound of police sirens, Michael was stunned!

He had never experienced anything like this before. Whether it was the newspaper boss in the past or anyone else, the level of force he used was much harsher than that applied to Lynch. The newspaper boss had even vomited blood after being beaten by him.

They had all silently endured it, with none ever shouting for help like Lynch did.

In truth, he had a cognitive barrier. He always thought Lynch was like everyone else, all criminals, who wouldn’t dare call the police, let alone shout for help. But he overestimated his judgment and underestimated Lynch’s decisiveness.

Soon, Lynch was sent to the hospital while he sat in a police car, his face dark and sent to the Police Station.
