Chapter 221: 0219 Reality First

"I truly am a merciful person!"

Lynch flipped through the materials in his hands, feeling a genuine sense of relief at his merciful heart.

In this era, good men like him are rare; most people are lost in the endless pursuit of money, power, fame, and beauty. There are very few who can find their true selves and reach such a level of thought.

He glanced up at Asir, who quickly lowered his head, "You are indeed a merciful gentleman, Mr. Lynch."

Lynch was very pleased with the recognition from others. Sometimes, even when you know someone is flattering your looks, you still enjoy hearing it; Lynch was the same.

The materials in his hands came from the clients of the factory where Nell had once worked. It took less than fifty thousand for Lynch to get these orders from them.

He felt that if he pushed a bit harder, maybe he could get them for thirty or forty thousand, but he is a merciful person. His reasoning was that he couldn’t bear to see those workers and their families fall into ruin. He was a capitalist with boundaries.

"If they can’t fulfill the contracts...," Lynch flipped through the materials in his hand, "how much would they have to compensate me?"

Asir, already well aware of these materials, had consulted a lawyer, "Mr. Lynch, you have the right to claim compensation at full contract value. If you demand more, it might take several lawsuits to accomplish, but for full value, the judge will support you."

If the demand is too high, the judge will consider whether such a verdict is appropriate, referencing the arguments between the plaintiff and defendant to ultimately provide a result the judge deems reasonable.

However, if the demand is for full compensation, even if the other side appeals, there isn’t much that can be done because the contract is right there and everything is being conducted according to it.

Lynch nodded with satisfaction, placing the documents back on the table, "How is Nell’s situation going?" He looked up at Asir, "Lately, I’ve been busy and haven’t been paying attention to his matters."

After the large strike, Richard came to see Lynch, asking how to handle the auction in the capital.

Due to the strike, the auction initially scheduled for mid-November was postponed all the way to December and hasn’t taken place yet, which made Richard somewhat anxious.

Although indulging in food, drink, and entertainment was enjoyable during these two months, he was still uneasy.

A person like him must have a tightly packed schedule to find enjoyment in stealing time amidst busyness, which is what he needs.

Various trivial matters were sapping Lynch’s energy, causing him not to pay much attention to Nell’s situation.

Speaking of Nell, a smile appeared on Asir’s face, "Nell is a very talented person; he is good at dealing with workers and getting them to trust him..."

Sure, because Nell himself was a worker, he knows how to interact with his class, making everything appear natural if he simply follows his previous work methods.

Through Asir’s description, Lynch quickly understood that Nell was getting along well with the workers, occasionally lending a hand on the construction site.

This phenomenon is quite normal. Many believe that by putting themselves in others’ shoes and experiencing their emotions, they can gain others’ approval.

But actually, they cannot, because the difference in classes means that even though Nell not long ago truly had no difference from them, there is now an insurmountable gap between them.

Their current display of closeness to Nell is merely because Nell can offer them a job; the moment Nell makes a decision that causes them losses, these people will immediately turn against him.

However, Lynch does not intend to remind Nell; everyone must grow, and Nell is no exception.

Later, Lynch brought Adam the lawyer back to his office. For a boss like Lynch who pays handsomely, Adam was naturally delighted.

Lynch tossed the duplicate documents over to him, "Help me with two things: First, sue all the workers who sold stolen goods to me..." Adam wanted to say something, but before he could open his mouth, Lynch cut him off, "Second, how to legally and rightfully make him pay us compensation without him noticing."

Adam initially wanted to discuss his fees, but facing Lynch’s strong demeanor, he could only first look at his work.

After ten minutes spent reading these documents, he slightly furrowed his brow and thought for a moment, having a clear idea in his mind.

"Mr. Lynch, if I may ask boldly, where did you obtain these?" He raised the contracts in his hand.

Adam patiently explained, "If you obtained these through particular means, we might face issues defending in court and even risk a countersuit."

He spoke solemnly. These orders essentially identified the parties involved in the transaction. Without notifying one party that the other participant has changed, the other side might not acknowledge these order transfers as valid.

Lynch quickly gave him an answer, "I am a creditor, and these were collateralized and given to me."

The process was easily completed through Dyson Asset Management Company and Gaitenau Financial Company, and Lynch had his justification.

"They inherently have value; their original owners paid more than one hundred fifty thousand as a deposit for these orders. To repay their debts, they collateralized these orders at a value of fifty thousand to me. I plan to fulfill the subsequent rights of these orders completely, even if I cannot waive any remaining costs, I still release around a hundred thousand in profit space. Do you think my statement is reasonable?"

Adam thought for a moment, nodded, "Very reasonable, I have no other issues."

"As for what you mentioned before, triggering the compensation clause without alerting the other side is difficult, as you first need to fulfill your obligations to potentially activate the compensation clause."

"May I ask how this company’s operations are going?"

Lynch quickly informed the lawyer of the company’s situation, which made the lawyer realize it was related to Lynch’s previous legal consultation, where a nearly bankrupt company suddenly had the opportunity to thrive due to a group of thieving workers.

But it’s merely an opportunity; without other interference, they no longer have such a chance.

Adam quickly provided his opinion. Lynch could directly notify the other side that the rights to these orders have transferred, and as long as he deposits the second payment into the designated account, they must continue to fulfill their following obligations, i.e., production.

If they fail to produce enough goods and complete the final settlement and delivery within the specified time, Lynch could sue them and demand full compensation.

"According to these orders, the production time starts counting from when you pay the production costs, and within one hundred days, they must deliver the goods to you."

"During this time, as long as you ensure they cannot fund the production, then..."

Adam shrugged, "Mr. Lynch, if you don’t mind, could you hear about my fee structure?"

After obtaining Lynch’s permission, Adam breathed a sigh of relief, "Regarding contract-related cases, my agency fee is twelve percent of the case value, which is for winning cases. If it’s lost, you only pay three percent of the case value!"

In other words, if Lynch wins, and he claims a hundred thousand from someone, twelve thousand goes to the lawyer’s agency fee; even if he loses and gets nothing, he still has to pay three thousand in agency fees.

In the Federation, three professions are most coveted and quickest to earn money.

They are community dentists for middle-class communities and above, psychologists with relevant certifications, and... lawyers.

The Federation once had a very famous case where an ordinary elderly man sued the company employing him. This seemingly trivial case drew attention from the top legal team in the Federation.

They provided free judicial assistance to the elderly man and won the case, with their agency fee at ninety-five percent of the case’s value!

Many thought it was the legal team’s merciful heart, or perhaps the more cynical would think it was the legal team purposely finding a small case likely to win to boost their win rate.

But in reality, it wasn’t. From this lawsuit, they gained wealth astonishing enough that many won’t get in several lifetimes!

They succeeded in convincing the judge and public opinion to impose a punitive huge fine on the employing unit, turning a small matter worth hundreds into a case of jaw-dropping value, with the majority taken by the legal team.

More outrageous are the divorce cases involving wealthy individuals, where the wives of the wealthy don’t get even a penny, but lawyers effortlessly take a large portion. They prefer paying lawyers over their wives; this is indeed a colossal joke.

If capitalists are vampires, then lawyers who serve them are leeches sucking blood from vampires!

"Too much. I can give you two thousand a month to become a legal consultant for my company, or I can give you..." Lynch glanced at the clock, "fifty bucks, then spend five hundred outside to find a lawyer on the brink of starvation to do this work."

Adam couldn’t help but scratch his temple, feeling as though he was sweating, though he wasn’t, "That’s not ethical; I’ll be laughed at, Mr. Lynch."

"But you can feed your family, Mr. Adam!"
