Chapter 243: Mario is Shocked

Andrew and Mel arrived at the W Mansion just as the sky turned darker. Grandpa and Andrew’s parents were already standing at the main door welcoming them enthusiastically. She feels a warmth in her heart.

"Granddaughter... come here with grandpa inside," Grandpa called Mel when he saw her getting out of the car.

Mel quickly walked over to Grandpa, leaving Andrew, who was taking out the gifts from the trunk with the help of his father and the butler. Although Andrew has a high position in the company, he still considers himself a son and young man at Will Mansion. He doesn’t like being spoiled and prefers to do something in Will Mansion by himself. Andrew is grateful that his father and the Mansion staff understand that.

It is also a tradition and culture of William’s family. When at home, the position in the office will not apply. They will act as an ordinary family. The sons and daughters must behave like average families, such as helping parents lift luggage, which he does now.

Mel was fascinated by the William family philosophy. She also agreed, because after all, family is more important than wealth and throne. And the way they address each other makes their family bonding so close and intimate. Although sometimes her husband seems annoyed with his family, he loves them deep inside and far outside his heart. For the Williams, family comes first.

When Mel entered the living room, he saw Mario had just emerged from the kitchen. His face has healed much. Only a few scars remain on his forehead, and there are some scars on his forearms. His nails also have appeared to be growing normally. He looks healthy and fit, much different from the ailings Mario she saw a few months ago.

Mel smiled at him. But Mario’s reaction made Mel laugh. His face looked so shocked when their eyes met. He looked stupify in his place, staring at her.

After a few seconds, they are staring at each other. Finally, Mario could gain his sense back, "Sh*t!! So Andrew’s brother’s lover is you...Mel? How could it be?" Mario shouted. His eyes narrowed at Mel, but a moment later, a slap landed on his head.

He was shocked and saw his mother was staring at him intently. "Ouch! M-mom....why did you hit me? It hurts!" He cried like a spoiled little boy to his mother. Mario was then stroking his head which was slapped by his mother.

"Brat. Why are you cursing at your sister-in-law? Where’s your manners?" Lilly scolded him.

"So you are my older brother’s girlfriend? Seriously? What did you see in him?" He teased Mel by putting on a comically confused face. "OK, joking aside. So, you are seriously my brother’s girlfriend?"

Mel shook her head before saying, "Your brother is not my boyfriend, but my husband. So from now on, you should call me sister-in-law." Mel smiled and giggled at him, who had just been scolded and beaten by his mother.

Mario closed his mouth with his hands. Now he is in genuine disbelief. He glanced at his grandfather standing by Mel’s side, wanting to ask him what he heard was true? But, to his surprise, his grandpa’s reaction said Mel was right.

"What are you all doing just standing? Why don’t you sit down?" Suddenly Andrew had joined them in the living room. He immediately pulled his wife into his arms and kissed the hair on top of her head affectionately.

Mario’s eyes jolted out. He couldn’t believe what he saw. Mel, his friend at XTeam, is now his sister-in-law? Since when did this happen? Why didn’t he ever find out? How could Mom didn’t tell him this huge news? But as a special-force soldier, Mario quickly gets over himself and calms himself down.

With a calm voice, Mario then said, "Sister-in-law...." But his brother had dragged her away from him. And so did the rest of his family. They are now sitting on the sofa. He quickly joined them and sat in front of Mel, next to his father.

"Brat, why are you two bring so many gifts?" Grandpa Will asked Andrew.

"Those are all gifts from my wife..." He said proudly.

Grandpa Will glanced at Mel. With a smile, he said, "My lovely granddaughter, don’t bother to bring any gift...."

"Yes, daughter, next time, don’t give us any more gifts... don’t waste your money." Lilly, who sat beside Mel, took her hand and tapped it gently.

"Grandpa, Mom, it’s OK... it’s a gift as my first visit as the daughter-in-law of the William family. And the gift I bought was not an expensive item, but I bought something that can be used for all of you....." She said softly. In her heart, she felt bad because the one who chose the gift was her husband.

"Alright, we will accept this time... but next time, don’t do that again, huh? We’re the ones who should be giving you gifts, not the other way around..."

Mel nods.

While the others talk with Mel. Arnold William sat next to Mario, curious about his younger son’s behavior when he saw Mel came. "You’ve met Mel before, haven’t you?" asked Arnold William to Mario.

He knew Mel was also friends with Mario as a child, but as adults, they didn’t have the chance to see each other. Because his son is busy in the military and Mel’s identity was only recently discovered by Tanner. So, he was sure they would never meet.

Mario didn’t answer his father right away, but he watched Mel in front of him carefully. After a while, he looked at his father before saying, "This is a kind of secret, Father. So don’t let anybody else outside this room knows. Sister-in-law is my comrades in the special force," Mario said to his father.

"WHAT!?" Arnold William was surprised to hear his son’s words. Army Special Force? His daughter-in-law also joined the Army? Still, in a state of shock, he looked at Mel... "Daughter, are you on the same team as Mario in the army?" Arnold asked Mel.

Arnold William’s words made everyone in the room who were chatting stop suddenly. Their gazes were fixed on Mel.

Mario, who just realized that he had told his family a piece of top-secret military information, instantly froze. He wished he could turn back time and undo what he had said to Father and also disappear from the room.

Mel almost choked on hearing her father-in-law’s words. She immediately looked at him with a surprised-looking face.
