Daily life of a cultivation judge
Chapter 1187 - 1187: The silver haired enigma

"If only it had been the Thousand Battle Hall or the Medical Saint Garden, then I wouldn't have to maneuver as much, I could just walk in through the front door," Yang Qing mumbled with a sigh.

Those two organizations had excellent relationships with the Order, so getting through their doors wouldn't require much consideration. Not to mention, even without relying on the Order's name, Yang Qing could just as easily get in there relying on his personal connections, since he had friends in both organizations.

"I wonder if Ren Shu knows anybody there," Yang Qing thoughtfully murmured, already thinking of using the deputy valley master as his go-between.

Given Ren Shu's abilities both as a soul formation expert and as a purple-grade healer, it was a given that he would be acquainted with a lot of people. But even expecting that, Yang Qing still found himself awed by how many organizations and cultivators Ren Shu had relationships with.

"Weirdly enough, even Old Fiend Lei is like that," Yang Qing muttered as his eyes shifted between confusion, fear, and indignation, before finally settling into defiant will as he thought of his silver-haired nemesis.

Given how taciturn and stern Lei Weiyuan looked, Yang Qing had assumed him to be a sadistic and monastic cultivator who, other than his duties and tormenting Yang Qing, had little to no other cares in life.

Yang Qing had pegged him to be an unsociable person with little to no friends, except for his shadow that he liked to lurk under, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

The man had friends, and it wasn't a small number either, and neither was it just people from the Order. That old fiend had friends from all corners of the continent. It wouldn't even surprise him if he discovered Lei Weiyuan had friends from other continents.

There were many a time Yang Qing found himself up at night, stuck in serious thought, wondering how someone like Lei Weiyuan and his personality grew to have so many friends.

Did he threaten them? He often wondered, thinking that to be the only plausible way a man like him could have so many friends.

After all, whatever else he might think of the person, even Yang Qing had to admit few people could match him in terms of intimidation. Not even the instructors, as scary as they were, could come close.

Otherwise, why would Yang Qing consistently have nightmares about him every single day without fail? Or have involuntary heart palpitations the instant he saw the silver-haired supervisor, even when he had done nothing wrong?

Even just thinking about how nervous old fiend Lei made him feel instantly made him nervous. Yang Qing immediately counteracted that feeling as he repetitively mumbled to himself that his day under the moon would come, when it would be his turn to torment Lei Weiyuan with his mere presence.

That mantra quickly calmed him. Since breaking through to the palace realm and subsequently being promoted to the palace courts, he'd noticed the mantra's effects had become more and more pronounced.

Maybe I could try and ask him if he knows anybody there before I try Ren Shu. He's bound to be lurking about within these hallways, said Yang Qing as he cast a suspicious and mildly apprehensive glance at his doors.

The way he looked at them, he bore the expression of someone fearfully expecting those doors to suddenly fling open, and the object of his greatest fears to walk through them.

Luckily for him, despite staring at his office doors for nearly two minutes, nobody walked through, which left him sighing in relief—

Though for a brief, brief, very brief second, his eyes seemed to flash with a glint of disappointment.

Pushing his wandering musings aside, Yang Qing cleared his mind and moved on to the talisman containing the updated information about the Azure Sapphire Kingdom.

There wasn't much added to what he already had, with the only real addition being that the Wan noble household—the family Bai Chen had done jobs for—and the Yao family, which was the royal family of the kingdom, were well on their way to producing domain experts.

The former had one person attempting, which was the Wan family patriarch, while the latter had three experts on the verge.

One of the Yao family members was making the attempt at their own grounds within Azure Sapphire Mountain, at least, what was left of it, while the remaining two were in different locations.

The report hinted that one of them was doing so in the Millionsfold Treasure Ocean, though her exact whereabouts were unknown. That wasn't surprising, given the esoteric and mysterious nature of the place.

As for the final member, their location was unknown, with the only information being that they were not at Azure Sapphire Mountain.

Other than that, the report also contained a timeline of when they were likely to undergo their tribulation, along with the likelihood of success.

Of course, that information was restricted purely to the Yao royal clan member attempting their breakthrough within the mountain, and the Wan family patriarch.

The timeline for both inviting their tribulations was within the same window: three to five years. And when it came to their degree of success, they were both given the same odds, which was: high chances of success.

Of course, that meant little, given the notoriously lethal nature of domain tribulations that could kill even the well-prepared.

What the report did mean, though, was that in terms of foundation and accumulation, they were already domain-worthy.

Which also meant that whoever compiled the report was very likely a Flying Shadow Hawk member who was already in the domain realm, and if Yang Qing was willing to bet, they were likely to be in the middle stages, for them to give such an evaluation and have the confidence to spy on the two clans without being discovered.

The report also contained the cultivation realms of the other noble clans, but it more or less matched the information Yang Qing had earlier. There were no surprises there.

"That timeline should work for me," Yang Qing murmured pensively as he added the breakthrough timeline to his schedule. He had already planned to go there the instant he was done with the Silver Crane Sect, given that it was the last known place for Jiang Hao and the ferry—and later Bai Chen. A three-year time window to work with was more than he could ask for.

"I will still need to give them a courtesy visit," Yang Qing added as he moved to the last talisman.
